Posted by Anonymous | October 9, 2010 12:05 PM

they almost for certain shut the AC off in the venue (as had been reported earlier.

There was a 20 minute drone that led into the swans set

I had to leave the room at one point i was getting nauseous from the volume

Amazing set.

One of the best "reunions" i've seen (in that the new material fit in seamlessly with the old)

Posted by Anonymous | October 9, 2010 1:49 PM

@1:49, You were the only person in the room who was not impressed with Swans.

Posted by Anonymous | October 9, 2010 1:55 PM

Young kid posting with his head up his ass.

Posted by Anonymous | October 9, 2010 7:57 PM

I hate it when bands play with their back to the crowd. I guess them geezers had stage fright.

Posted by Anonymous | October 9, 2010 9:11 PM

"I hate it when bands play with their back to the crowd. I guess them geezers had stage fright. "

Yeah it could be that. Or its because they really didn't want to have to smell disgusting dirty NY hipster B.O.

Posted by Anonymous | October 9, 2010 9:19 PM

swans 10 ish, before 10:30

Posted by Anonymous | October 9, 2010 9:21 PM

Swans just destroyed the Bowery.

Posted by Anonymous | October 10, 2010 12:35 AM

swans were fucking great tonight, although I've been to of montreal shows that were louder

Posted by Anonymous | October 10, 2010 2:20 AM

^Tell that to the crying hipsters that stood next to me the whole show without earplugs on.

Posted by Anonymous | October 10, 2010 3:05 AM

If you didn't see Swans you really blew it. Incredibly powerful but not the loudest show I've seen at the Temple. The after party was really lame but there was, amazingly, a small line of people waiting to get in that didn't go to swans. uh, hello?

@3:05> Michael Gira didn't wear ear plugs.

Posted by Anonymous | October 10, 2010 3:30 AM

^He didn't cry either.

Posted by Anonymous | October 10, 2010 3:44 AM

I started with ear plugs but took them out ... the volume was enjoyable, even meditative. I wanted to feel the full force of the SWANS. Gira was a combo of preacher and shaman. Phil Puleo from the late, lamented Cop Shoot Cop was a revelation on the drums. SWANS are like no other band on earth.

BUBBA YAM likes NASCAR instead.

Posted by Anonymous | October 10, 2010 9:29 AM

Don't be a BUBBA YAM.

Posted by Anonymous | October 10, 2010 9:30 AM

Swans were absolutely amazing. It was loud... but did you seriously think it was really *that* loud? I thought it was pretty much "normal loud concert" level -- am I just going deaf?

Posted by Anonymous | October 10, 2010 9:41 AM

BTW - none of them had their back to the audience.

Posted by Anonymous | October 10, 2010 9:42 AM

9:41 -- you are correct, it wasn't *that" loud. I found it pleasurable. People's heavy anticipation of it being eardrum-bleeding loud made them think it was louder than it was. It was just right - SWANS' music is majestic.

Posted by Anonymous | October 10, 2010 10:09 AM

it was loud but not in an "ear shattering" way.

It's one thing to crank the PA up to the point that it's hurting your ears and everything turns into a wash

you felt every hit through your body, and it could make you uneasy, but they were smart about it to have it reasonable enough that the vocals cut through clear as day.

Posted by Anonymous | October 10, 2010 11:02 AM

I was at Bowery Ballroom last night and don't remember SWANS doing "Your Property" of the COP LP, which I thought they were doing every show on this tour. Can someone please confirm or post a setlist. Also, speaking of the BMT afterparty, what made it feel like a prom as others have posted. Did the porno star spin "Hey Mickey" or something?

Posted by Anonymous | October 10, 2010 11:17 AM

at BMT it was the second song.right before Sex God Sex

it's a totally different arrangement than on cop.

Posted by Anonymous | October 10, 2010 12:15 PM

was Masonic louder than bowery?

Posted by Anonymous | October 10, 2010 2:11 PM

"Stop looking at me Swan."

The line is actually "Stop staring at me, Swan!" Always good to see "Billy Madison" referenced in the same breath as Michael Gira.

Das Racist is obviously pandering to the lowest common denominator with the word "Racist," but if they're keeping in line with their pronunciation of "That's" as "Das," they should spell "Racist" as "Raciss."

Half-listening to reactionary blacks talk is worse than not listening at all.

Posted by Crosseyed Sniper | October 10, 2010 4:19 PM

So I read these here comments, and I was wondering what's the consensus? Which show did you people like better? BMT? Bowery show? I can't decide myself.

Posted by Anonymous | October 10, 2010 5:51 PM

They did play Your Property at Bowery. The arrangement's a bit different though. I recognized the lyric and saw the title when M. Gira threw the lyric sheet after the song ended.

Posted by Anonymous | October 10, 2010 7:46 PM

In a perfect world, all bands would be as well rehearsed and also able to improvise and feed off each others energy like this lineup of Swans. It was really inspirational to see their interaction and musicianship. Also, I'd like to say the audiences at both shows were really polite and fun to spend time with, except for the fuckers who talked through Baby Dee at BMT. People - you don't have to like the bands Swans pick to open for them but you should at least respect them.

Posted by lori | October 10, 2010 8:15 PM

No it is "stop looking at me swan"

Posted by Anonymous | October 10, 2010 9:16 PM

You don't have to respect any band that sucks. That said, Swans at the Bowery Ballroom last night melted my face.
