Dawes @ Webster Hall
Dawes are on a headlining tour in support of their well received debut North Hills. Vetiver and Peter Wolf Crier are currently both opening that tour, and both opened for the band in NYC at Webster Hall on Friday (11/12. Pictures from that show adorn this post.
If Dawes wasn't still on tour, I might expect frontman Taylor Goldsmith (the G in MG&V) to stop by the sold out Deer Tick show at Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn tonight. If you're not sure which one Taylor is in these Webster Hall pictures, just look for the person wearing the leather guitar strap that reads "Goldsmith" which was designed by my favorite non-vegan master leather worker and musician Jonny Corndawg, who is not opening for Deer Tick tonight (Jason Anderson strangely is though), but who just released a split 7" with the band...
"Since the inception of Partisan Records, the label has had the intention of creating a 7" series to showcase new and talented musicians. These may be artists who are beginning on the road to a long and fruitful career or artists who have remained on the radar but have never had the opportunity to have their music showcased to larger audiences in a physical format.Look for one at the merch table at Music Hall tonight, or at one of the other upcoming Tick shows (dates listed below). Grab one of the Corndawg songs now, above.
With that in mind, the label is pleased to announce the Partisan Records Co. 7" series. These will be vinyl-only releases on high quality vinyl which will be a showcase of new songs from these bands, or doing a split with current artists on the Partisan Records roster.
Officially, this is the second release in the series, with Deer Tick sharing the wax with long time tour companion Jonny Corndawg. A limited pressing of 1000, on two color variations of white and sky blue at 500 per color.
Deer Tick offers the fan-favorite ZZ Top cover "Cheap Sunglasses" while Corndawg gives fans a taste of his upcoming studio album with "Chevy Beretta" and "Nightrider". These will only be available on the bands respective tours and in the Partisan webstore.
And speaking of Partisan Records, Deer Tick isn't their only artist playing in NYC tonight and tomorrow. Mountain Man opens for Jonsi at Hammerstein Ballroom tonight, and Partisan's latest signing (it was announced like today), Warm Ghost plays tomorrow/Thursday (11/11) at Glasslands with Grandchildren and a DJ set by The Antlers (Valleys and Foxes In Fiction were both also on the Glasslands bill, but had to cancel).
More pictures from Webster Hall (2 of the bands only), and all Dawes and Deer Tick and Warm Ghost (not to be confused with Glass Ghost) tour dates, below...
