"Now it's cool to have 14 people in your band doing everything but contributing musically, running around with a helmet on your head, hitting it with a drumstick. You gotta look at what you're in this for: the love of music? The fame? You can have all that if you're smart and play your cards right and don't become a dick."
- Kings of Leon's Nathan Followill

"We regret to inform you that Kings of Leon's concert scheduled for Nov 18 at the IZOD Center will be rescheduled for mid to late2011, so that the band can accommodate a video production deadline. Refunds will be given at point of purchase. Credit card purchases (online and telephone) will be credited back to the cards used. Details on are scheduled date will be announced soon. Please note, tickets for Nov 18will not be valid for the rescheduled show. We apologize for the inconvenience."
A who what when where? Apparently it's been cancelled for at least a week already. Kings of Leon still headline Madison Square Garden in NYC tonight though.

Manchester Orchestra, whose new side project with Kevin Devine called Bad Books made their debut at Bowery Ballroom during CMJ, open the show. Right after Bowery, Bad Books played an in-store at Looney Tunes in Long Island. Kurt was there and took the pictures you see below...

I know a place where no brains go

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 2:18 PM

rumor has it that their tour bus pulled up to the IZOD center and they freaked out when they saw a flock of pigeons on a telephone pole

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 2:20 PM

they are the worst (kings of MEHon)

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 2:20 PM

That quote is hilarious.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 2:26 PM

Gotta say, that Bad Books album is great. It reminds me a lot of Elliott Smith at times.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 2:27 PM

This band cares more about finishing up video production than playing for their fans?

Wow, I'm shocked.

Posted by Venkman | November 16, 2010 2:28 PM

That crowd at MSG to see Kings of Leon tonight is gonna be packed with some real thinkers.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 2:32 PM

yeah, all you bashers were admirers 3 years ago.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 2:40 PM

the hate on these guys is just so lame. are they reinventing the wheel, no? but they make good rock records. they're huge, they won't be your indie band anymore, get over it!

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 2:54 PM

God, KOL, go and die!

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 2:57 PM

A lot can go wrong in 3 years and 2 albums, dumbshits.

BUT U LIKED THEM BEFORE HOW COME U STILL DONT LIKE THEM BECAUSE THEY STILL ARE PLAYING U SHOULD LIKE THEM FOREVER AND EVER!!!

Fart.

these clowns were never any good in the first place. it's not like we suddenly don't like them because they got big. i don't like them because they suck unequivocally.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 3:06 PM

This band has absolutly no integrity. That's why I don't like them.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 3:07 PM

There's lots of people who like their first couple of albums, which of course don't sound anything like their new "bro anthem" shit.

But obviously everyone hates on them now because they're popular, not because they don't sound like the same band that people liked back then.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 3:11 PM

the band doesnt care about their fans by canceling shows to make videos, or because they got pigeon shit in their mouth.. thats why i dont like them

plus the singer does the most annoying HAWYA AH YA HONKYA OHEH things with his voice

plus they are a shitty reashed CCR

plus they had pigeon shit in their mouths

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 3:23 PM

Hey 2:40: Well said, but tack on three more years and make it six years I was a fan. The first LP was great - a great take on the garage revival, but they fell flat soon after. They walked off stage at the Bowery in 2004? after people were heckling them. They should have given up then...

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 3:26 PM

plus they had pigeon shit in their mouths

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 3:27 PM

I had the displeasure of seeing these philistines open for Ben Kweller (I know, right?) in 2002. They sucked then when they were being hailed as "The Southern Strokes". Now they simply suck on a more colossal scale.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 3:35 PM

people didn't hate on teh strokes (maybe not the best example) when they got big.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 3:36 PM

@3:26 they almost pulled the same move when I saw them in providence in 05 or 06, but I'm not gonna like it was a feckin rocking gig. All went down hill after first couple of albums.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 3:38 PM

Getting big and selling out are two different things. The strokes don't have their own lame ass clothing line where they sell belts for like 350 dollars each.

KOL shreds! lol

nitrous mafia!

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 3:41 PM

where's the manchester orch / kevdev / LI hate? okay, i'll go.

manchester orchestra is the most worthless band that i've ever heard. discounting their cred-destroying tour w/ brand new (lol), their lofty ambitions and attempts to be "indie" with long modest mouse-y album titles and neutral milk hotel covers are embarrassing. the only satisfying thing about them is that i know in my heart that issac brock and jeff mangum fucking hate them as much as i do.

oh, and kevin devine whines.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 3:44 PM

plus they had pigeon shit in their mouths.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 3:48 PM

Decent band then-decend band now, nothin special but most of the hate simply comes from them blowing up, dont kid yourselves kids....if they were still playing bowery then all the yuppie hipster bandwagon bailers would be all over them. Go listen to alberta cross if you want to be the guy that heard the band before they were big guy.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 4:16 PM

....plus they had-

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 4:25 PM

Anyone have any idea who he is referring to in the quote?

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 4:26 PM

PIGEON SHIT MAFIA!

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 4:30 PM

Arcade Fire. Hence, 2:18.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 4:31 PM

Thanks, 4:31. I thought so. Never got KoL. Not surprised that their lowest-common-denominator crap is popular, though.
Those 4 bozos combined couldn't carry Win Butler's jockstrap.

4:26 GOBBLE GOBBLE

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 5:00 PM

These guys are the worst. A fucking clothing line?

Posted by anonymous | November 16, 2010 6:24 PM

@ 4:16 hell yeh ALBERTA CROSS!! but i dont think these guys will suck when they get the success they deserve because they are just as rock music should be ROCKIN!

as for KOL . . . meh. new music video = cringe

Posted by kevin | November 17, 2010 12:38 AM

Whether you like or not, dicking over your fans for a video shoot is a cunt move. Fucking wankers.

True true... fans need to come first. This is obviously a result of a bad financial situation... they chose the bigger commission. I guess at this point they don't expect their fans will take much part in their revenue stream.
