hipsters & Die Antwoord in the Village Halloween Parade
Halloween 2010
Halloween 2010

"President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama opened up the White House doors to the local children and military families to the North Portico of the White House [on Halloween]. Always willing to open the doors to the White House the first family had some trick or treaters getting their candy game on track.

Michelle Obama didn't dress up this year, last year she went as a p*ssy cat, this year she kept it simple and rocked an orange sweater with black trousers. The President was on hand taking in all the festivities cheering on the little trick or treaters and hugging it out with Abraham Lincoln." [Peace FM]

Today, election day, Obama is busy supporting candidates. Go out and vote, even you undead hipsters! (The Rent is Too Damn High!)

Back to Sunday: you already saw ONE, TWO, THREE sets of NYC Halloween Parade pictures. A fourth set continues, ending with a grand finale video, below...

Ahahahahahahahahaha, those Die Antwoord guys walked into Vanessa's Dumplings around 10:30pm after the parade when I was there.

Shit has to stop with this fucking holiday..Enough already. Time for these losers to get a job

Posted by Anonymous | November 2, 2010 12:11 PM

Hipsters are people two? hhahhhahahah

more like hipsters are worst living people on the planet.

Go back to wherever you came from trust fund babies.

12:11, you should learn to have fun once in a while

Posted by Anonymous | November 2, 2010 12:45 PM

I enjoy the halloween pictures

Posted by Anonymous | November 2, 2010 12:56 PM

Those Halloween hipsters just look like grunge shitheads from the 90's. Overweight dudes in flannel with bowl haircuts does not a hipster make.

going out on halloween is way cooler than bitching on this blog.

if you hate hipsters stay the fackoutta brooklyn and brooklynvegan, okayyyy

Thanks for all the photos, BV, but next year you've got to edit these batches down. There are a lot of good shots, but also many repeats. Also-and this is nitpicking-a bunch of the photos (daylight especially) from this batch were terribly underexposed-something that could have been prevented/corrected relatively easilyquickly. I know these photographers aren't getting paid, but still.

Posted by dinosaur | November 2, 2010 1:36 PM

terribly underexposed? i just looked through this batch again and don't see anything that looks "underexposed". if you're a regular reader you'd know a) photo galleries in the 50-100 range are the norm and b) amanda's photos are always top notch and these are no exception.

i was out with my camera that night too and couldn't get anything near as good as what the 4 or 5 photogs on BV sent in... perhaps you should try shooting at night handheld w/o a flash and see what kind of results you get, i'd love to see them actually.

I say we have a photograph-off. That's the only way to settle this once and for all.

Posted by Anonymous | November 2, 2010 2:06 PM

totally down, how may we do this?

Posted by chris | November 2, 2010 2:09 PM

its not really bv's job to edit photos. photographers should learn to edit their own sets

Posted by Anonymous | November 2, 2010 2:22 PM

i personally like seeing large sets of any given event, and that's sort of what BV is known for

Posted by Anonymous | November 2, 2010 2:28 PM

Ooh, me too! I want to lose. :)

Posted by lori | November 2, 2010 3:49 PM

you'd whoop my ass lori :)

The winner of the photo contest gets a free hummus platter.

Posted by Anonymous | November 2, 2010 4:47 PM

time for xmas music.

Posted by Anonymous | November 2, 2010 4:52 PM

perhaps the contest should be who can take the best hummus platter photo on a dark unlit street with no flash or ISO adjustments. if submissions were uploaded on flickr we could tell if anyone cheated by the EXIF data...

BV would you partake in such a contest?

Posted by Anonymous | November 2, 2010 5:00 PM

dinosaur - These look fine on my laptop, a little darker on my iPhone, and I tend to like my daytime photos on the darker side anyway, but I'm really not seeing terribly underexposed on a bunch of them. I welcome the criticism, though!

Also I'm totally down for (losing) a photograph-off.

Posted by Amanda | November 3, 2010 7:27 AM

2:28, BV is actually know for the witless comments made by its readers. For confirmation check any post!

You got some great photos of the event. What a good time.

it was fun to enjoy the smiles and good weirdos of this city. i got to dance with a Haitian dance troupe and the Hungry March Band - all at once? too bad that video didn't make it (oh, ps, naysayers, i have a job - dancing is a hobby of mine and being expressive is something this city used to value)

You have some awesome photos!! I love the NYC Village Halloween Parade!!! It's so amazing to see the different types of costumes. I filmed the whole halloween parade 2011 ( I used a sony cam with a 5 hour battery 1080p ). I'll be there this year!
