Pulp

Is this a hoax? Is this just what the doctor ordered? Is this the final straw? Is this too good to be true? These are all questions asked by Pulp's website who announced that the UK band is back in business. So far just a handful of European festival dates (Primavera Sound and Wireless) and no word on any new US shows, but fingers crossed.

And, "The show will involve original members of the band (Nick Banks, Jarvis Cocker, Candida Doyle, Steve Mackey, Russell Senior & Mark Webber) and they will be playing songs from all periods of their career (Yes, that means they'll be playing your favourites)."

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 12:11 PM

I don't think anyone cares.

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 12:18 PM

noone in the U.S. cares or even likes this band. I know they have their cred, but seriously ... we all know they suck. It's like telling us Manic Street Preachers are reuniting and playing shows in the U.S.. The person would be like: 'huh..?!'

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 12:18 PM

Hummus!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 12:19 PM

maybe if they were the American hack version of Pulp people would care

Americans really do think theyre the center of the universe dont they?

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 12:22 PM

yeah no one in the US likes this band. i'm sure when and if they come around they'll be doing huge venues. if jarvis cocker can play T5 on his own pretty sure pulp can.

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 12:22 PM

Well think this is lovely news.

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 12:23 PM

I want either....
1) 5 nights at Bowery and/or MHOW
2) 2 night stand at Webster Hall
3) 2 night stand at Irving Plaza

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 12:25 PM

They'll be playing larger venues than that 12:25.....

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 12:28 PM

2 nights at Terminal 5, most likely?

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 12:32 PM

12:22pm: That's not true, we don't think that. We know that.

Massive yawn. Phish reunion > Pulp reunion

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 12:38 PM

If they even decide to come to the U.S. (Blur reunion?)they'll probably play Roseland.

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 12:45 PM

2x RCMH

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 12:45 PM

damn, they were mad jealous of pavement's success.

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 1:09 PM

Wait so 2011 can be an epic year for shows....
1) Pulp
2) Godspeed You Black Emperor!
3) Radiohead
4) Daft Punk
5) The White Stripes

Am I missing any?

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 1:19 PM

This reunion wave of crap bands is getting boring. Who cares about Pulp!

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 1:24 PM

What are you on about, 1:09?

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 1:25 PM

Pulp RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 1:35 PM

they should play at town hall

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 1:41 PM

They should play Cake Shop. Who cares about this???

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 1:57 PM

LOL at everyone who doesn't think people care about Pulp. Watch them sell out multiple nights at T5/Roseland if they decide to tour the US.

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 2:06 PM

Seductive Barry

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 2:17 PM

Fuck anyone that thinks PULPs insignificant. They will sell out multiple nights anywhere. Why? Because they rule.

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 2:18 PM

They already booked Glasslands. hhahaha

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 2:23 PM

Hummus yawn.

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 2:35 PM

Hummus usually wakes me up.
The phyto-nutrients really give me a boost!
I don't understand your "hummus yawn" comment.

Pulp is gonna be a sold out show too. I wonder if they play the shank?

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 2:38 PM

I saw them at Hammerstein in the olden days and the amount that I was a fan changed from "a little" to "die hard" over the course of the concert. To this day one of the maybe ten best shows I've ever seen.

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 2:58 PM

8/14/2011 show at Roseland already sold out. Tickets going for $500 on stub hub. Anyone know if they'll add a show?

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 2:59 PM

Coachella?

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 3:00 PM

Oh. My. Fucking. God.

Jarvis slays when he's playing his solo material, I can only imagine how phenomenal this will be. Probably my favorite, non-Pavement reunion news.

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 3:01 PM

Haters, go choke on your Pearl Jam....

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 3:02 PM

3:02 I agree -Pulp will end up playing the Waterfront. Pearl Jam really needs to go away...

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 3:27 PM

Pulp at Glasslands- 2011

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 3:31 PM

Pulp was a very influential band. They were before Radiohead, and you can tell how much Radiohead ripped off from Pulp. Half the Radiohead catalog is revamped Pulp songs.

Screw anyone that hates on Pulp.

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 3:34 PM

Pulp influenced American bands as well. Pavement have ripped them off too. Many people don't know about Pulp, but they will in time. They are one of those bands, like Sonic Youth, that no one cares about till they reunite and sell out multiple nights at large venues.

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 3:40 PM

Sonic Youth is reuniting? Oh lord...

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 3:41 PM

Sonic Youth never quit!! (But they should have after Daydream Nation)

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 3:44 PM

Pulp will destory any club they choose to play. Take it from someone who has seen them countless times. They will RULE.

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 3:52 PM

I hope Pulp plays Bowery Ballroom. That would be proper and fucking awesome!

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 4:07 PM

this band just sucks

Posted by nygrump | November 8, 2010 4:09 PM

why do they suck, grump? explain in detail why Pulp sucks?

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 4:11 PM

They just suck! Listen to their music! Do I need a diagram explaining why for you?

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 4:13 PM

4:13 At the very least, try to be a little more precise in your language.

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 4:16 PM

PULP SUCKS. Clear enough?

Posted by 4:13 | November 8, 2010 4:23 PM

I hope they do what Pavement did- 1 night at Waterfront, 4 at Central Park.

I bet they won't play Terminal 5 after Jarvis' solo debacle there in 2009, which had to get moved to MHOW because Jarvis fans (understandably) wouldn't buy tix for T5.

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 4:25 PM

Jarvis Cockers cock is minuscule.

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 4:27 PM

Speaking as one of the bowery presents bookers. Jarvis Cocker's show was not moved because of lack of interest. Don't spread rumors about something you know nothing about and are false.

Posted by BP | November 8, 2010 4:31 PM

Was it moved cause T5 looks like a setpiece from THX1138?

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 4:47 PM

This is great news!!! Pulp!!!

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 5:01 PM

Since when are the White Stripes playing?

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 5:13 PM

B-o-r-i-n-g!

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 5:14 PM

Love this. Cannot believe Vegan did not announce the Suede reunion that is going on now. I would love to see Suede and Pulp come together across the pond to play a couple of shows.

Posted by citybug | November 8, 2010 5:39 PM

Someone please name 10 great Pulp songs, I am having a hard time.

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 5:43 PM

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 5:50 PM

"Sure, they're from just 3 albums, but they're you go."

Meant to write "there you go"

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 5:51 PM

Posted by Anonymous | November 8, 2010 5:55 PM

Screw Pulp and Suede. When is Gaydad reforming? Or Menswear?
You guys take this as a good news, like you have the cash to go to Europe on those dates. Bet none of you ever been to that Pavement show. The closest thing you're gonna get Pulp is from a carton of orange juice.
