Best Coast is headlning?!

Wavves > Best Coast

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 11:36 AM

^ agreed, but Best Coast is much more popular than Wavves these days.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 11:43 AM

about to? full dates were released yesterday. there are two NYC shows.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 11:44 AM

so when this falls apart, who gets the cat and bongs and bad lyrics?

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 11:48 AM

tour of our generation yall

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 11:48 AM

@11:48 hopefully me

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 11:49 AM

11:44--what's the other nyc date?

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 11:55 AM

@ 11:48 #2 hopefully not

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 11:55 AM

Saw Best Coast when they opened for Japandroids at Bowery earlier this year and it was most most mediocre and mind-numbingly dull thing I have ever seen. How did they get big? You're fucking up, music buying public.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 11:56 AM

I think they are co-headlining

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 12:00 PM

You know what? We deserve this. We deserve this for allowing mind-numbingly boring and vapid bands like these two get popular. We have reaped what we have sown. Now we just have to suck it up and hope no one involved gets any farther in their musical careers.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 12:00 PM

Ahhh the "Will you be my mongoloid?" tour.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 12:03 PM

This will be possible the douchiest tour of the year. Both are so incredibly awful and full of themselves. You're all being duped. You'll realize it one day.

Posted by anonymous | November 16, 2010 12:10 PM

they'll make out onstage and shit and duet and all that and play each other's songs and blahblahblah ITLL BE AWEZ

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 12:12 PM

if it was just wavves i would go.
if it was just best coast i would go.

when you combine them... holy crap.

i mean this with all seriousness. years from now on we might look upon this tour the way a 1990 nirvana/hole tour would be looked upon today.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 12:13 PM

I have to agree with 12:00pm and 12:10pm. I try not to have negative feelings towards people making music but man...these two bands/people just kind of bother me.

Posted by Derek | November 16, 2010 12:14 PM

re: 12:13 wow seriously?

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 12:24 PM

at first I thought 12:13 was quoting Best Coast lyrics

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 12:30 PM

The people who like this music are the people who don't listen to Nirvana ironically. They actually like distorted noisy grunge rock. I know it may not seem like "music" to many of you, but neither did Nirvana to most of the nation until they released the radio-friendly 'Nevermind.' Just wait until three years from now when Wavves decide to release a similar type of record, and everyone hops on board.

"i mean this with all seriousness. years from now on we might look upon this tour the way a 1990 nirvana/hole tour would be looked upon today."

^ obviously not old enough to go to shows in 1990.

whats the other nyc date/venue?

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 12:40 PM

yes 12:24 seriously.
songs like these remind me of hole:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Sj5_WITMpA
and wavves really remind me of nirvana.
though wavves and best coast both have less screaming/harsh vocals than nirvana/hole.
that's my honest opinion though i know people here hate both bands for some reason.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 12:40 PM

12:35, correction:

The people who like this music are the people who don't listen to Nirvana carefully.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 12:44 PM

personally, when i hear Waavves i hear Blink 182, not Nirvana, but hey, everybody's different...

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 12:54 PM

wonder what the Nirvana/Hole christmas song duet for Target would have sounded like.. oh wait, that would have NEVER happened

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 12:56 PM

this is depressing!

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 1:02 PM

terrible pap

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 1:12 PM

The nirvana comparison has made my day. I literally laughed out loud. The only similarites between the bands are that there are people playing instruments.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 1:16 PM

^

...also, I forgot to express my opinon...

I would not....at least not going by that picture.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 1:19 PM

what capacity will this show reach....1/2?...1/3?

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 1:21 PM

12:35 sounds a bit out of touch, and I agree, Wavves are nothing more than a copy of Blink 182. The only difference between them in New Found Glory is the decade of separation. There's no ground being broken, just being retread (and it's a ground that's been done so by bands for way too long). Wavves offer nothing.

Nirvana took from the Meat Puppets and the Pixies and brought it to the next level of song and lyric writing. Your comparison couldn't be more wrong.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 1:24 PM

im 100 and cranky!
turn down yr music!
bahhhhhh i hate wavves and bestcoast!
~all of you

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 1:29 PM

NITROUS MAFIA!

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 1:32 PM

they are only relevant because music blogs ::cough cough:: like them and then write about them. then, the people not smart enough to think for themselves like them because they think they "should."

yes, i'm calling waaves and best coast fans stupid.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 1:47 PM

@ 1:29 it's ok to like wavves.. do whatever you like... but an earnest comparison to Nirvana is absolutely ridiculous

i dont think it makes me cranky and old to call bullshit on that

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 1:49 PM

@1:49 dude i agree that that comparison is abso awful and terrible. but the avalanche of anonymous hate these two bands get is pretty stupid. they both put out two fun albums! give em a shot! if its not yr cup of tea, then surely its also not worth bitch about on the veg. geez.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 1:57 PM

if there's one band worse than best coast its wavves
have fun!

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 2:03 PM

I would say that the Nirvana/Hole comparisons are a bit our of touch.

The only other tour I can compare this to is when Joseph Haydn went on a 7 catherdrials tour with Mozart.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 2:04 PM

yeah the wavves = nirvana, best coast = hole comparison is stupid.

i think it's more like wavves = bob dylan, best coast = joan baez

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 2:05 PM

^my god i hope thats a joke

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 2:10 PM

what... no joke here. i feel as though "mickey mouse" is akin to "tangled up and blue"

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 2:12 PM

Baby Say Goodbye is clearly Nathan's Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 2:13 PM

the person who didnt get that joke probably thinks wavves = nirvana and best coast = hole

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 2:17 PM

If only we could cull all of our collective hatred and use it for good...

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 2:33 PM

@2:17 i think wavves = wavves and best coast = best coast

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 2:36 PM

What jackasses actually like this crap. And no, Im asking the random defenders who say they are "fun". Im not sure what that means anyway. How is being annoyed by derivitive, shittier (sp?) blank 182, any fun?

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 2:38 PM

Best Coast blows!

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 2:38 PM

i'm all about bands becoming successful, but if No Joy goes the way of Best Coast/wavves i'm gonna cry.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 2:44 PM

Of course he would tour with Best Coast....

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 3:00 PM

...and let's not forget that these 2 just did a track for Target. Yep the big box chain. so fucking lame!!!

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 3:03 PM

Guster was also on that compilation, and they're awesome. Right guys? Right?

Posted by anyone? | November 16, 2010 3:06 PM

when i say fun i mean that it's enjoyable to listen to in a non intellectual way. and that's what these two bands are.

ok, so they lack the sophistication and talent of sufjan stevens and radiohead (and many other bands) but both wavves and best coast are accessible and melodic.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 3:07 PM

For some reason I just couldn't get into Nirvana. I like Wavves and Best Coast. I think a Wavves/Nirvana comparison is just idiotic. The Blink 182/Wavves comparison makes much more sense. I hate Blink though. Yea...idk...I like Wavves and Best Coast.

Posted by E.T. | November 16, 2010 3:12 PM

if for some reason you could not get into nirvana, then that's just sad.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 3:13 PM

3:07, you could use that exact argument to justify Kesha, Kings of Leon, Fergie, etc...

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 3:15 PM

303 - big box chain? get your head out of p4ks ass plz

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 3:20 PM

everyone here commenting belongs in a jail cell. hop in. ive got room for yall.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 3:24 PM

Hey ya'll, who gives a fuck? I'm not goin', and I don't care if you do.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 3:25 PM

opinions are like assholes; if you've got one, you should be arrested

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 3:26 PM

YOU R ALL MISSING OUT ON THE MOST EPIC AND IMPORTANT SHOWS OF MAYBE ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 3:39 PM

oh good. i was just compiling my list of things I won't be doing and this jutted right to the top

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 4:28 PM

I love all the hate Wavves gets it's cute. If you don't enjoy the music then you don't understand...simple as that. Enjoy yourself and the emotion of the music if you can't do that well I guess you can just be a whiny little bitch... oh wait..

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 5:17 PM

ha
nirvana/hole -no big deal
wavves/Best Coast-no big deal either.
:p

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 5:34 PM

The Hate Wavves!!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 5:37 PM

re: 3:20
Have you ever been to one? really? fuck off. you are as dumb as you are misinformed.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 5:38 PM

I hear her vagina smells

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 6:32 PM

wavves is slightly weirded version of lame shit like Blink 182 and Green Day and Best Coast has shown that they basically have one song in them and it's not that good.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 6:55 PM

why is everyone bringing up blink 182. i agree that nirvana is much more accurate though they are certainly differences.

still the fact that we're debating between nirvana and blink 182, two of the most significant bands of the 1990s, tells you what a great band wavves are.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 6:58 PM

Nathan = The Voice of our generation. We deserve him.

Posted by Anonymous | November 16, 2010 7:21 PM
