"Soul singer Aretha Franklin, who underwent surgery for an unspecified illness Thursday after canceling concert dates through May, has cancer, a Detroit TV station reports.WJBK Fox 2 in Detroit cites a family member in confirming a National Enquirer print-edition report Wednesday that specifically mentioned pancreatic cancer, the disease that claimed Patrick Swayze and Michael Landon. Franklin's rep had no comment for the Detroit News, which cited a source "familiar with the situation" in its cancer report." [LA Times]
