Darwin Deez

One of NME's coolest artists in 2010, (#10 to be exact) Darwin Deez, releases his debut self-titled LP to the USA on February 22 via Lucky Number. The NYC artist will hit the road in the new year for a US tour that will take him from coast to coast and come to a close at Bowery Ballroom on February 19th. Tickets are on sale as of noon (12/10).

Along the way, Darwin Deez will link up with S.Carey (who plays Highline on 12/13), Sea of Bees, Fol Chen, and Friends who will provide support at the Bowery date and also supported Darwin Deez at a recent Mercury Lounge show. Friends indeed.

Darwin Deez recently dropped a video for "DNA", which is viewable below along with the video for "Constellations" and all tour dates.

This (the photo, the hair, the glasses, the pedophile mustache, the music, etc) is the epitome of everything that's wrong with the Indie Rock music scene. Kudos.

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2010 11:44 AM

when are men going to realize that unless you're a very masculine looking dude (think tom selleck) that mustaches make you look like a pedo?

musn'tache, my friend. musn'tache.

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2010 11:45 AM

None more douchey.

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2010 11:52 AM

Who?

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2010 11:54 AM

While I wanted to instantly hate this fool based solely on appearance, I gave his songs a chance. Now I have a solid foundation to judge this ridiculously uninspired f--kwad. Boring bland music, awful lisp-fringing voice, and talentless lyrics. Hey Darwin, you're trying TOO hard....and you're doing it ALL wrong!

LATFH

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2010 11:56 AM

he's huge in the UK....because they have no fucking taste! (see: The Drums, Hurts etc. etc.)

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2010 12:02 PM

The UK is where buzzbands that are too shitty for even Brooklyn hipsters to care about go to live out their flash in the pan careers. God bless 'em.

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2010 12:05 PM

and their women are far from appealing as well.

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2010 12:07 PM

This guy does not look lame at all!

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2010 12:17 PM

This is Weird Al's Cousin right? Please tell me it is.

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2010 12:17 PM

Wasn't this guy in Creaky Boards? He's actually a really nice guy if he's who I think he is. Music kinda sucks, though.

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2010 12:18 PM

dude was in creaky boards, new album is really catchy

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2010 12:18 PM

I just feel bad for photographer Pieter M. Van Hattem. Dude probably takes his job seriously, went to school for photography, keeps up on new photo techniques and equipment. And then this douche-tastrophe rolls into his studio one morning, ready for his close-up.

Sorry, Pieter. We all know it's not your fault. You're just trying to get that paper.

bravo my friend. bravo.

it's sad too, much of the state of music. "musicians" seem to forget the fact that constant touring and gigs are what will make you good. maybe even famous. not chasing every fucking little trend and trying to look good. fail.

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2010 12:32 PM

Oh hell. Serious? What, did your label give you a fucking gift certificate at American Apparel? How's this-stop spending your time trying to look some part, and just fucking that funky music white boy.

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2010 12:35 PM

DARWIN DEEZ FOR PRESIDENT.

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2010 12:36 PM

Maybe I'm just in a sour mood right now but come the F--K on...F--k you Darwin Deez, f--k whoever signed you and f--k your friends for telling you to pursue your career! From your stupid name to the smallest detail of your appearance, I think I f--king hate everything about your existence!!

Posted by Anonymous | December 10, 2010 1:04 PM

You'd think "Evolution" when you heard "Darwin", but you'd have it reversed.

Posted by bing crosby | December 11, 2010 10:16 PM

this guy is a stupid piece of shit who doesn't know what dna is and why he cant use it as a metaphor for his girlfriend getting bored with him.

Posted by Anonymous | December 12, 2010 3:31 PM

this guy loves his own face - check out his myspace, album cover, videos, every promo photo, 7" cover, probably t-shirts, tour flyers, etc.

i, on the other hand, hate it.

Posted by Anonymous | December 15, 2010 12:42 PM

hes funny looking but theyre actually really good

Posted by Anonymous | December 28, 2010 3:13 AM

Being old childhood friends with dear Darwin, I was on one hand appalled by all these hateful comments, but then quickly amused. I have to agree with 4:40, my guess is you will all be paying good money to see my sweet friend one day, and if the stars ever align to grant you the rare opportunity in the height of his John Lennon-level fame, to actually sit down with him for a cup of coffee, you will be more disarmed then a quadriplegic with a baby puppy on his lap.

Darwin Deez is a fine artist. You're all just too bitter.
