DOWNLOAD: Imbroglio - "Cement Shoes" (MP3)

Imbroglio

Black metal, hardcore, noise rock, punk rock and sometimes even the most lilting of all twee pop... comes from the same place: frustration and anger. Ironically, it's the key ingredient missing from a lot of metal today. It's been replaced by abhorrent things like drum triggers, screaming lessons, and ironed hair. So when a band is able to harness that fury and anger and redirect it, it's a rare and frightening thing; Converge has done it, Nasum did, Today is The Day, Kill The Client and many others have all turned that venom into vinyl (or CD if you prefer) gold.

Imbroglio has it too. Hailing from Syracuse, home of headcases like Engineer & Ed Gein, the band is prepping to release their new album Sleep Deprivation via The Path Less Traveled Records on January 18th, 2011. The nine-track effort furiously explores noisecore and grind on burners like "Cement Shoes" available for download above.

So far the band has no dates in the near future, so until then, check out a live video of the band in action as well a stream of "Cement Shoes" below.

Why is this here?

Today Is the Day were not metal to begin with.

This over done trend of metal\doom\hardcore has been done for the last 15 years. The beard, key chain hanging, black and white band t shirts, and the music formula is from a scene with identical bands unfortunately. Theres about five original groups out of that whole music genre.

You obviously just don't get it:( the talent is there that's why it's here ;) If it's not your thing move along! We all hate haters!

Dayton? Yeah, that's a real garden spot.

Posted by Anonymous | December 16, 2010 8:12 PM

I never understood why Today is the Day isn't concidered a metal band. Listen to "The Man who loves to hurt himself" and tell me that's not a metal song! Steve Austin sounds/plays like the goddamn devil. I'm sorry, but their METAL!

Their metal what?

Or is it THEY'RE metal?

Posted by Anonymous | December 16, 2010 8:30 PM

Whoever mixed this should be looking for a new job because its so out of whack that its hard to even tell if the songs are good.

Is he playing a toy drum set wtf?

Theyd be better if they ripped off ABC Diabolo but theyve probably never heard of them.

great picture guys... no really, looks awesome. assholes

"metal" bands all dress and sound the same but the current "indie" bands covered here don't look or sound anything alike. this post should be replaced with some band of over-reverbed, low-fi urban outfitters wearing fake glasses.

This shit is angry as fuck. Glad to see bands out there that actually get it. Definitely buying this when it comes out! Hopefully they'll post some dates soon.

i think the only thing they are suffering is from is "hummus 'depravation'"

Posted by Anonymous | December 17, 2010 3:32 AM

^ *deprivation

I heard that if you want to win a Brooklyn Vegan contest, you're going to have to place either your nipples or hummus nipples in tin foil...microwave until you hear God Bless America...then check your gmail, nigga!

Is that the guy from Taxmasters?

Posted by Anonymous | December 17, 2010 8:48 AM

agreed the mixes are pretty bad. spend a little money on fixing it up and it might be worth a new listen.

They should get a female australian singer in the band and they could be Natalie Imbroglio.

Posted by john | December 17, 2010 10:03 AM

Natalie Imbruglia is a fox.

Bite your tongue!!!! I wasn't born in Ohio but I know alot of people in the business that would put you in your place and they include renowned writers, actors, comedians, artist, musicians etc. Just type in famous people from Ohio, you'll be amazed. It doen't matter where you come from, it's the passion you have for your craft and these boys definintely seem to have it. What have you done lately that I could read about? The name of your band, one of your CD's come on anything, anything that would make me think you might have a clue on what this band is all about!!! And stop correcting grammar what are you an English teacher? I hope these guys blow you away with the new CD in January and are signed by a bigger lable and you can eat well let's just say your words!

No let them speak their minds as infantile as they may be. The negativity is like candy for a band like this! Let them feed on it and they will create more great music for us to listen to. For those who can't handle the sound and the lyrics that tell you how this world really is. Crawl back into your bubble and get back to that Jonas Boys video and **** yourself!

I'm all out of faith
This is how I feel
I'm cold and I am shamed lying naked on the floor.

Posted by Anonymous | December 17, 2010 2:30 PM

i'm into this band...seem like a lot of comments for something not all that important.

Posted by Anonymous | December 17, 2010 2:58 PM

who?

Posted by Anonymous | December 17, 2010 3:03 PM

"agreed the mixes are pretty bad. spend a little money on fixing it up and it might be worth a new listen."

good mixes don't make shitty sludge tunes into good tunes.

Posted by Anonymous | December 17, 2010 5:50 PM

i love when the band posts a response anonymously and plays it off like they are someone else who actually gives a turd. lolz

there are 1000 bands who sound exactly like this and do it better.

Posted by Anonymous | December 17, 2010 8:01 PM

And they are not being talked about, why?

Posted by Anonymous | December 20, 2010 1:28 PM

I guarantee that if a member of this band were to post a response, it wouldn't be anonymous and it sure as heck would contain a lot more profanity.

I'm trying to figure out why people feel it necessary to go out of their way to make a judgment. If you don't like the music, then go listen to something you do like. Most bands in every genre sound similar; it's not just in metal or hardcore or emo or whatever else. They're all influenced by many of the same bands. It happens.

And as far as criticizing the band photo - who cares? What else are they supposed to do? Of course standing around, getting your photo taken isn't original. Every band has one. Should they be sitting on ponies or dressed up in fancy attire? What's next? Are you going to get pissed because you see a picture of them in the middle of playing a set? HOW ORIGINAL WOULD THAT BE?! GOSH!

You know what else is original? Absolutely fucking NOTHING. So get over it. These guys are doing what they love, and they're PASSIONATE about it. And they're struggling in their lives to do it because it's that important to them. So sit there and troll articles on random bands you dislike for whatever reason, hiding behind your computer monitor, and acting like you "don't care" when you obviously give a shit enough to make snide, general comments.

Oh, and I'm willing to bet, these gnarly dudes would just laugh at all of these negative comments. So really, you all are just making yourselves sound like pathetic idiots who have nothing better to do with your lives.
