I used to think like you do, and then I saw them with Bejar. While Kurt does a pretty good approximation of Dan's voice... let's face it... nobody sings Bejar like Bejar. And personally I love Dan's on-stage antics.
It also seems to me that the band is better with him in it. Carl is in hog heaven when he's annoying Dan. And you're also more likely to hear a rare Bejar song when he is actually there.
