KOL? Kanye? Strokes? And no Daft Punk?

Can pigeons shit on Kings of Leon again? Better yet, can people just throw shit from the porta potties at them?

Also, this lineup is shit

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 12:22 PM

a bunch of bands that no one cares about anymore

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 12:22 PM

Predictable, a little boring, but there's still a lot of bands I'd like to say. Not enough for me to go all the way out there, though. I dunno, lineup could have been a little more inventive.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 12:22 PM

Lame. Headliners suck except for AF.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 12:23 PM

was dfa 79 ever big enough to be a headliner for something like this? little confused here. maybe this is a joke and the real line up has daft punk headlining all three nights.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 12:24 PM

I think the lineup doesn't matter... Do you know how amazing coachella hummus is?

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 12:25 PM

yeah underwhelming!

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 12:26 PM

I remember one time Aphex Twin played Coachella. That's the only way I know Coachella exists because he hasn't done any other shows in the states recently beyond that. I can't say anything mean about any of those bands simply because I'm not intersted in them. Yawn.

Posted by Nate | January 19, 2011 12:26 PM

Big names include everyone who played Lollapalooza last year. Oh, and Kings of Leon! What a treat for anybody who has been in a coma for the last 5 years and somehow didn't see them when they played every festival ever.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 12:27 PM

sausage fest! bam! blew your mind?

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 12:27 PM

Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks this lineup is a little lame, with the exception of a few.

For the fools are actually paying to see Kanye at Coachella, think Bonnaroo'08 and save yourself some cash.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 12:28 PM

Decent lineup for a festival. What more can you expect?

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 12:28 PM

Lauryn Hill is actually going on after Kings of Leon

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 12:29 PM

wow what crap this festival is. what a fucking shame. take away gogol bordello and you got nothing.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 12:33 PM

12:29 Exactly what I was thinking.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 12:34 PM

Lightning Bolt + desert = melt yr face off!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 12:34 PM

There's gonna be dessert?

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 12:36 PM

Caifanes? Latin Rock...really?

They really just want to escape the Drug War violence, fair enough.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 12:36 PM

I think it's saying something that the band I'm most excited to see on the line-up is Scala & Kolacny Bros. I assumed it was their U.S. debut, but then I realized that they are doing a U.S. tour this spring. So...

Posted by M | January 19, 2011 12:37 PM

"Decent lineup for a festival. What more can you expect?"

coachella is known for having stand out acts/reunions that most other fests don't have. aside from DFA i don't see anything that other fests won't have. and these headliners are just a mix of the past two lollapaloozas. this will still be a good time, just a very predictable lineup..kind of a shame

Posted by bobby the rookie | January 19, 2011 12:38 PM

Is Kanye going to do an intimate after party?
I only want to see him in an intimate setting

OH, and Duran Duran return,
everyone BOW DOWN BITCHES!!!

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 12:39 PM

DFA179 basically co-headlined Pitchfork's Intonation fest back in 2005, so their placement on the lineup's not that surprising. Plus they went gold in Canada!

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 12:41 PM

Being that most of us reading this site are from NY, it is hard for us to get worked up about many of these festival lineups. We're spoiled. Pretty much any band we want to see, we can see.
If you are from a flyover state, you rarely get to see anyone come through town other than Creed and Hinder. This lineup (or any lineup) is going to be a treat for a lot of people.

Posted by Kurt C. | January 19, 2011 12:44 PM

Duran Duran toured 2 years ago bro!

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 12:45 PM

wow this is just awful.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 12:46 PM

About time this was posted! I've been dying to complain about it all morning!

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 12:47 PM

this town needs an enema!

Posted by jack napier | January 19, 2011 12:48 PM

so rad that SUEDE is playing!!!

Posted by zither | January 19, 2011 12:49 PM

Worst coachella lineup ever

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 12:51 PM

"About time this was posted! I've been dying to complain about it all morning!"

that makes two of us!

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 12:54 PM

Happy about Suede as well - hopefully they will do a NYC date while they are over. Seriously good live band.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 12:55 PM

I agree that the line-up is a little boring and predicatable, and basically just Lolla last year again, even though i like all the headliners (yes, even the hated KOL!). BUT, if you are putting on a massive festival, you've gotta have big names, and sadly, I don't see a lot of acts out there who can bring enough people out to warrant booking them? It's a bummer, but it IS a business!

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 12:58 PM

They should have snagged R.E.M.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 1:00 PM

they did, just look at the headliner for Saturday

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 1:02 PM

Will Bernard Butler ever rejoin Suede?

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 1:04 PM

I'm amazed that any festival would have Lauryn Hill there. What are they going to do when she's 3 hours late?

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 1:04 PM

I pity the person stuck with the job of telling Ms. Hill when she has to take the stage. On second thought, can someone get that on tape?

Or maybe they tell her she's going on three hours before she's actually supposed to take the stage.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 1:06 PM

Can I get a Suede/Big Audio Dynamite double bill at Roseland?

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 1:07 PM

the horses are on the track

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 1:15 PM

Erykah Badu pulled that shit last year at Lollapalooza. Her DJ ended up spinning for like 25 minutes and she did a 15 minute set before getting drowned out by Wolfmother or some shit. That's what happens when you're late.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 1:16 PM

No Pulp? Does this mean they are officially NOT playing the US festival circuit? They would be the only thing to get me to fly out for this thing

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 1:18 PM

Elbow...nice hopefully US tour around this date!

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 1:20 PM

coachmehlla

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 1:24 PM

lets hope bonnaroo makes things a little more interesting...

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 1:33 PM

this just made my yeast infection ten times worse.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 1:34 PM

1:18 I'm surprised Pulp isn't doing this as their big coming out party as well.

But we do know they are planning US shows so as long as they do a sweep of a few big cities I'm fine.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 1:38 PM

Gellato is perfect dessert after eating a hummus platter.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 1:44 PM

Friday tickets shouldn't be difficult to get.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 1:54 PM

yawn.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 2:06 PM

best coast no wavves?

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 2:08 PM

1:04p - same thing they did with Sly when he was 3 hours late & incoherent

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 2:08 PM

No Kid Rock?!

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 2:18 PM

Or Axl Rose. But I could at least take Axl somewhat seriously, as opposed to Sly Stone or Lauryn Hill.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 2:20 PM

Great. Now I have to sift through the BS on that list to pick out the good stuff. I do that enough at work as it is.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 2:24 PM

To get back to the warning that I received. You may take it with however many grains of salt that you wish. That the brown HUMMUS that is circulating around us isn't too good. It is suggested that you stay away from that. Of course it's your own trip. So be my guest, but please be advised that there is a warning on that one, ok

Posted by wavy gravy | January 19, 2011 2:27 PM

I really hope BAD comes around these parts...

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 2:27 PM

"Friday tickets shouldn't be difficult to get."

friday tickets? i'm pretty sure they did away with single day tix last year. or am i wrong?

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 2:28 PM

^ Color Me Badd?

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 2:28 PM

^ They wanna sex you up! Don't deny, man!

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 2:37 PM

One of the anonymous commenters pinned it well, us NYC area residents are spoiled with a great music scene. This lineup is definitely one of the more predictable ones they've had, but it has some great groups. I was happy to see that One Day as a Lion rumor pan out. Wouldn't be surprised if they added another reunion act last minute.

Posted by JP | January 19, 2011 2:52 PM

"Plus they went gold in Canada!"

Baaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 3:00 PM

I find it extremely depressing to attend festivals, unless I’m in a state of complete altered perception. Then they’re okay. But still too much moneyz for my shallowz pocketz.
I don’t even have my own computer, which is bullshit. So much for my public trolling. Fuck. I guess I could hitchhike to Indio. It’s not as hard as you might think. If you do choose this means of transportation, I recommend Russian truck drivers, or maybe just Russians in general. Very kind folk.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 3:11 PM

I'm waiting for the illustrious maestros Kid 'n Play to make the surprise appearance of the decade here.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 3:12 PM

Green Velvet is an interesting component to the lineup

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 3:18 PM

Haha, funny that you mention Green Velvet. I heard some samples of him a few years back, and just these past few days I've been listening to more of his stuff. Genedefekt mothatruckas!

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 3:31 PM

12:47 is 12:54

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 3:35 PM

how does 3:35 know?

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 3:37 PM

Because 3:35 thinks its clever.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 3:40 PM

The best thing about coachella is seeing so many fellow hummus eaters all in one place. :)

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 3:49 PM

3:35 is a disseminates vicious rumors.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 3:53 PM

i want some sour patch kids right now

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 3:59 PM

def worst lineup in yrs. its just getting worse and worse. there are huge empty spots on the electronic side. the sahara tent will suck. so many DJs that deserve a chance and the electronic music scene has never been more prevalent than today. seems that golden voice didnt make an effort to look into to book great talent. weak sauce.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 4:19 PM

stay home and watch the webcast.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 4:29 PM

Those who forget about history are doomed to repeat it. Remember Lollapalooza in the 90s, after a few years, in '96, when the lineups really started to suck? I understand it's difficult to get a worthy reunion (THE REPLACEMENTS!!!) or a solid headliner, but this year's line up just screams downward trajectory. Cash in now, go find a lifeboat.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 5:41 PM

Pfhheww, thank goodness.
For a second I thought that was the williamsburg waterfront lineup.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 5:42 PM

worst lineup they've ever had. oh well, they couldn't all be amazing.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 8:47 PM

"Waaaaaaaaaaaahhh!" cried the whiny pretentious assholes.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 10:08 PM

Apw was better

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 10:48 PM

^ what, seriously? APW was AWFUL, both years. This is much better than APW.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2011 11:16 PM

archers of loaf are playing!!!

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2011 12:25 AM

clearly this lineup sucks because everyone has heard of these bands. coachella would be so much better if they strictly booked bands with a maximum fanbase of 30 people.

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2011 4:10 AM

This lineup needs the Hummus Queens.

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2011 4:52 AM

3:37 is 3:40

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2011 11:34 AM

agreed 4:40.

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2011 3:53 PM

I am 1134

Posted by Anonymous | January 20, 2011 4:05 PM

I've gone to this festival for the past 5 years but won't be going this year because last year's combination of a more mainstream indie lineup, a young commercialized hipster crowd who didn't even know who Pavement or Faith No More were and the brutal disorganization (which was something I had never experienced in the previous years of attending) signaled the death rattle to Coachella. When I was saw this lineup, there was no way in Hell I was going to put up with that again especially when the main acts most definitely will bring even more trendy, annoying music fans out to the desert. Is it the death of Coachella, though? Considering camping and VIP passes have already sold out in record time and 3-day passes will likely as well, I don't think so, but it depends who you're asking. Goldenvoice looks like they figured out a surefire formula to success by booking mainstream acts on the top lines of each day instead of opting for those hailed by niche audiences like they had in the past. I think the undercard is pretty terrible, too. They're making their money, though, so maybe it's just a matter of accepting that this festival has gone to a new, less discriminating generation of music fans while those who would go apeshit over the likes of Kraftwerk, My Bloody Valentine, Portishead, Pavement and Leonard Cohen are left scrambling to fill the void somewhere else.

Posted by Anonymous | January 23, 2011 2:59 PM

...and I say that knowing full well that Suede, PJ Harvey and Caifanes are there but when I see Black Keys, Mumford & Sons and Animal Collective billed above all those acts, its obvious to me who this lineup is being catered toward.

Posted by Anonymous | January 23, 2011 3:02 PM

ATP New York everyone.

Posted by Anonymous | January 23, 2011 3:44 PM

Totally agree with 2:59pm.....this year's line up was ehhh compared to the other years. I mean let's just book three most popular headliners and have fun with it!

I'm hoping for ATP NY and Bonnaroo will have better line up this year....

Posted by Anonymous | January 23, 2011 5:27 PM

SOLD OUT!!!!!!
SOLD OUT!!!!!!
SOLD OUT!!!!!!
SOLD OUT!!!!!!
SOLD OUT!!!!!!

I'm shocked...

Posted by Anonymous | January 26, 2011 6:10 PM

a bunch of bands that no one cares about anymore

YEAH, THAT IS WHY IT SOLD OUT HUH?

Posted by Anonymous | January 26, 2011 7:29 PM

ATP AP everyone

OFF!

Posted by Anonymous | January 26, 2011 7:49 PM

What time does Daft Punk go on?

Posted by Anonymous | January 26, 2011 8:10 PM

its not sold out

Posted by Anonymous | January 26, 2011 9:10 PM

You really don't need a pass unless you need to get a vehicle in. I've been the past 3 years and haven't paid a dime to get in. There are so many easy access points.

Posted by Anonymous | January 26, 2011 10:27 PM

Because all the frat bros are now hip to the old shit. Should be a kickass crowd.

Posted by Anonymous | January 26, 2011 11:04 PM

i think people are overthinking this lineup. honestly if they did this festival near NYC i would definitely go. festivals are fun. this would be fun. i just wouldnt stay for kings of leon.

Posted by Anonymous | January 26, 2011 11:34 PM

Did Liberty State Park ever recover from All Points West? That field was a disaster after the festival.

Posted by Anonymous | January 27, 2011 8:34 AM

Liberty State Park still hasn't recovered from having to endure Crystel Castles (in fact, neither have I).

Posted by Anonymous | January 27, 2011 4:52 PM

i've seen all those bands...
