Deacon

Dan Deacon has been tapped by Francis Ford Coppola to score his next film, Twixt Now and Sunrise, due later this year. The gothic romance stars Val Kilmer, Bruce Dern, Ben Chaplin & Elle Fanning. In addition to scoring the film, Mr. Coppola and Mr. Deacon are collaborating on a larger level, details of which will be announced soon.

The announcement comes on the cusp of Deacon's concert of new music for So Percussion on Jan. 20th at the Merkin Concert Hall in NYC and his first performance of new orchestral work Feb 3rd and 4th with the Kitchner-Waterloo Symphony in Kitchner, Ontario.
In not really related news, Dan's old touring partner Girl Talk was the topic of a much-talked-about article in the NY Times (again) this past Sunday. Girl Talk is on tour now. Max Tundra and Junk Culture are both opening the sold out Terminal 5 show. Penguin Prison opens the sold out Wellmont Theatre show.

The new Francis Ford Coppola movie is a horror movie, as the video below points out...

D. Deacon might also be curating both Carnegie and Alice Tully Hall for the rest of time.

When will this asshole go away? Seriously, that's enough, Dan Deacon. The novelty is gone. No one cares.

More importantly why haven't any dates been added between NJ and Ternm 5 for Girl Talk?

Dan Deacon ate way too many containers of hummus. I can imagine Francis Ford Coppola at home listening to Daft Punk on repeat. He's probably like its a pita that I can't find more hummus.

People shocked at Coppola's selection of Deacon should realize that he has always been a follower of indie rock bands , if you even consider Deacon's random shit that. Coppola used to be about the music but today he is just about the hummus.

the very first indie rock band formed centuries ago in Lebanon and were known as the Hummus Queens. they have gone through numerous lineup changes but still exist today and played a bitchin' set this morning at market hotel

It's not like dude hasn't worked hard for his musical success. He has two composition degrees, and chooses to use humor in his music, like Michael Daugherty's "What's that spell?". If you want more astringent electronic music, Tristan Perich (who i also love) is also presenting at the festival.
