Max Fish

"Good news! Sort of. PAPERMAG has gotten the exclusive that legendary LES watering hole Max Fish will not be closing on January 30th (as we reported) and that owner Uli Rimkus has negotiated with the building's landlord to stay open for one more year. At which point Rimkus will have to find another location. In the meantime, everyone has a full year to say their last goodbyes to the scruffy and beloved downtown dive!" [PAPER] (thx Mike)
Video someone posted to YouTube of a recent fight at the bar, below...

Hey... what its going on?

It will ne a sad day when this place closes. The only thing that would ease the pain is if a hummus stand opens at that location.

Where?

Posted by Anonymous | January 11, 2011 8:36 PM

I've lived in NYC for over 10 years. I've never been there. Why would I bother now?

Posted by Anonymous | January 11, 2011 8:38 PM

This place has seriously always sucked.
Marz bar on the other hand...

Posted by Anonymous | January 11, 2011 8:59 PM

Mars bar smells like 20 dicks pissing, but it's got a lot of personality. Max Fish is for boners.

but we need another duane reade or starbux.

Posted by Anonymous | January 11, 2011 10:05 PM

To hell with Mars Bar. I'm convinced that place has two price lists.

bro

Posted by Anonymous | January 12, 2011 2:01 AM

Why all the "bro" talk. The crowd looks frat house, I thought this was a punk bar?

Posted by Anonymous | January 12, 2011 3:21 AM

I went there about 3 weeks ago, the bouncer started eating a really gross smelling sandwich, I left and never came back.

Posted by Anonymous | January 12, 2011 4:24 AM

Yea... I wish the bouncer would snack on hummus instead.

Posted by Anonymous | January 12, 2011 4:51 AM

"""""""""""PUNK""""""""""""

Posted by Anonymous | January 12, 2011 8:49 AM

You know 11:40 lives in Columbus, Ohio and never been to Max Fish.

Posted by Anonymous | January 12, 2011 10:17 AM

Max Fish a punk bar? That's... inaccurate.

Posted by Anonymous | January 12, 2011 12:30 PM

I used to go to Max Fish & Mars Bar in the early-mid 90's, & now live in Columbus. I'm old.

Posted by Wallis | January 12, 2011 3:26 PM

Max Fish is sooo 2000's and i mean anytime before 2005 and even still has always been madd pretentious. Its just an effin' bar.

Posted by Anonymous | January 12, 2011 10:43 PM

Anyone ever been to Hogs and Heifers? Such sweet, sweet bartenders there...

Posted by Anonymous | January 13, 2011 11:08 AM

Am veeeeeeeeery happy that this place is remaining open for at least another year. Set the standard for good jukeboxes in NYCbars.

I love this bar, and I would be very disappointed if it would close. The place this is a great place where you can encounter with friends, because it prints a jovial atmosphere, cheerful and fun.
