OMD

You can still catch Oh Land play a show this Wednesday at Hiro Ballroom, but if you had tickets to see Oh Land open for the reunited Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark at Webster Hall on March 8th, well you're probably not going to be happy to know that the show is now happening at the much larger Terminal 5 "due to overwhelming demand." Tickets are still on sale.

ha. Suscks major donkey dick for those with tickets. But at least more peeps can attend.

I already asked for a refund of my purchase. I hope all of the prior ticket holders do the same. It's the only way to send a message that T5 is an unacceptable venue.

FUCK.....

Classic bait-n-switch. Shame on Bowery Presents.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2011 4:58 PM

You just got Boweryed!

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2011 4:59 PM

That absolutely sucks. People bitch about Webster Hall, but holy shit Terminal 5 is so much worse. They should have added a second Webster show. End of story.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2011 5:03 PM

typical bowery cash-grab.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2011 5:04 PM

Who?

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2011 5:13 PM

you can blame the promoter but nothing happens with out the bands approval , you think OMD would say.. ok so we can sell twice as many tickets & make twice as much money... no thanks..

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2011 5:22 PM

anon 5:22 - you think OMD knows what the f Terminal 5 is? they see it as an opportunity to play in front of more people, which is great for them. they have NO idea what the venue is like.

Why can't bands play Roseland or Hammerstein?

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2011 5:43 PM

OMG!

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2011 6:07 PM

I hate T5!

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2011 6:13 PM

Bowery Bullshit Presents...cash grab, bait and switch.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2011 6:20 PM

just hope they don't pull more of this shit in the future

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2011 6:25 PM

this is nothing new , bands moving their shows to bigger venues, most of you are just new to these kinds of things.. happens all over the world & has been going on for as long as their have been concerts

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2011 6:31 PM

Thank you Bowery Presents employee for the explanation. We know this kind of stuff happens, but it doesn't make it right and doesn't change the fact that it sucks. I too have canceled my order. I don't want to eat the best food in the world if I have to eat it in a public bathroom.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2011 7:03 PM

Wow, what a seriously dick move by Bowery. So does this mean big bands won't EVER play small venues anymore in this city? Will The Mountain Goats' bowery shows be upgraded to T5 due to "overwhelming demand"?

Jesus fuck, torch that place to the ground already. Or dump hummus on it or something and then leave it to get all dry and crusty like when I forget to put my Sabra singles in the fridge.

OMD is the "How Bizarre" band, right? I can't believe so many people still like those guys.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2011 8:12 PM

its all about the $$$

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2011 8:58 PM

ORDER CANCELED! GIVE US THE MONEY LEBOWSKI!

"this is nothing new , bands moving their shows to bigger venues, most of you are just new to these kinds of things.. happens all over the world & has been going on for as long as their have been concerts"

Actually, most promoters would have some sort of integrity of the initial setting to keep it small and just add dates to the existing venue instead of moving it to T5 that even out of town people think "sucks". So, keep on douchin', and keep on grabbing that money.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2011 9:04 PM

this is actually a really mean thing for them to do, but i still love OMD. it can't be easy for them to make money these days, so i guess this is forgivable.

i've seen OMD talk in interviews and you can tell that they are nice people. The Human League on the other hand...fuck them. We should have a rally and steam roll over a pile of our human league records. joking aside, phil oakey is the the worst.

"Most promoters would have some sort of integrity of the initial setting to keep it small and just add dates to the existing venue instead of moving it to T5 that even out of town people think "sucks"."

It is not economically feasible for a touring band to add dates to a tour. It's not just the band, they have a whole entourage, the hotel bill gets expensive, especially in NYC.

Still, it's a dick move by Bowery Presents. As long as they offer refunds, it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2011 9:33 PM

Ok. Let's all take a deep breathe. First, OMD surely agreed to the switch of venue and SURELY has no idea people hate the fuckin' place. They want to play to as many people as possible based on the schedule they have in front of them (i.e. they can't add another date based on there travel itinerary). That being said, why the fuck wouldn't they allow more dates in their schedule for NYC when it's been 20 years since they last played there?!? Worst comes to worst you have an extra day in the city to promote the record and enjoy NYC...

Number two: the Human League rule. Phil Oakey is an amazing singer/frontman and a super nice guy in person. Long live THL! New album 'Credo' in March - can't wait! Since 1977...!

Posted by Anonymous | January 26, 2011 9:01 AM

Ouch, T5 - the worst venue in NYC.

Posted by Anonymous | January 26, 2011 11:58 AM

phil oakey still sucks

"It is not economically feasible for a touring band to add dates to a tour. It's not just the band, they have a whole entourage, the hotel bill gets expensive, especially in NYC."

actually, you're wrong. Case in point, godspeed added both church and Masonic temple dates as the other dates sold out. Although they did add a t5 date.

One data point does not invalidate the previous reasoning. That is what they call the exception to the rule.
