i liked the social network score, but was it really all that original? ever since american beauty was released, there have been hundreds of movies/tv shows that just imitate that vibe.

that said, the inception score was great

BV - Please lose this Cold War Kids banner wrapping on both sides of the screen. Looks messy and confusing.

^ I think that must be randomly generated...

really liked the 127 Hours score.

Yes, of course, the American Beauty soundtrack was where that vibe originated.

Is no one else surprised that Daft Punk didn't get nominated for the Tron: Legacy score?

Posted by Blackraptor. | January 25, 2011 10:48 AM

The movie I most enjoyed in 2010 was Scott Pilgrim....obviously not the best film by far, but def most entertaining IMO

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2011 10:58 AM

Good list. No Nolan for direction is sorta retarted. But there has to be snubs I suppose (Very few this year).

Not surprised Tron's Score was not nominated. Very boilerplate. Rezonor and Ross are the obvious picks here. And I am sure reznor would list Thomas Newman as a primary influance...NOT! Nonsence.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2011 11:08 AM

yeah really... Nolan is this generation's most ambitious director. WTF?

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2011 11:18 AM

Nolan is overrated. If I want a film to confuse the hell out of me I'll watch something by David Lynch.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2011 11:26 AM

Just glad Randy Newman is not on this list.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2011 11:56 AM

Sadly Randy Newman is a lock for the award this year for best song. You see the other nominees for that?

inception was terrible. is this an example of the academy nominating a dumb movie that sold well to generate interest?

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2011 1:44 PM

@144, druming up interest was the point of going to 10 best picture nominees. And inception was nominated for best pic, just not director. Which further amplifies it's exclusion.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2011 1:47 PM

ahh..I see what you asked now @144. Short answer = yes. Still a snub for best director though.

Oscar wins for Hip-Hop acts, by region:

East Coast = 0

West Coast = 0

Dirty South = 1

"Nolan is overrated"

stupidest thing i've read all day

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2011 2:47 PM

randy newman is amazing, shut it

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2011 4:47 PM

nolan's best film is 'the prestige.'

::crosses fingers for Trent and Atticus::

also, how do you nominate Michelle Williams for Best Actress, but leave out Ryan Gosling for Best Actor? Gosling had a much better performance. The movie itself was not worthy of a Best Picture nod though.

^^ there arent as many good roles written for female actresses. therefore it is easier to be nominated for an actress than actor.

cool man thank you ^^
