Trish

We lost a great one today -- Broadcast's Trish Keenan. An official statement from Warp's website:

It is with great sadness we announce that Trish Keenan from Broadcast passed away at 9am this morning in hospital. She died from complications with pnuemonia after battling the illness for two weeks in intensive care.

Our thoughts go out to James, Martin, her friends and her family and we request that the public respect their wishes for privacy at this time.

This is an untimely tragic loss and we will miss Trish dearly - a unique voice, an extraordinary talent and a beautiful human being. Rest in Peace.

Broadcast were last here in October 2009 when they toured with Atlas Sound. Their 2000 debut The Noise Made by People is one of the great albums of the '00s, due in no small part to Keenan's icy coo. All their records are worth checking out. So sad, too soon, she'll be missed. Some Broadcast videos after the jump.

Depressing. The Southpaw show back in 2004 was pretty amazing. She came out after the show and hung out at the bar for a long time, signing autographs and chatting with fans. I'll never forget both how great that show was and how sweet of a person she was.

11:21 Yeah, that Southpaw show was unforgettable (one of my all time favorite shows) and getting to chat with her and finding her so friendly was wonderful too. So sad, such a loss.

when i met her at a show in boston, i thought she was the friendliest, sweetest person. i'm glad to hear that others felt that way as well. this is a terrible loss.

i remember when she sent a friend request on myspace during its heyday. as if i wouldn't have known who she was. seemed real normal and down to earth.
