Summer Camp

UNDER THE RADAR MAG: Any plans for the rest of the year and 2011? Where will you be touring?

SUMMER CAMP: We just finished up the U.K. festival circuit, which was amazing. For the rest of the year, we're going to first take a little time off in the last of the summer sun and then we're going on tour in the UK with a great U.K. indie band, Frankie and the Heartstrings, which is really exciting. We'd love to tour the States, needless to say, and we'll hopefully make it over some time next year--Australia, Japan, Canada and Europe are all on our wish list too. Apart from that we're just going to carry on writing 'till our keyboards explode.

That interview was conducted in 2010 which means they got their wish. Tickets are on AmEx presale now (general sale starts Friday at noon) for a March 2nd Summer Camp show at Mercury Lounge in NYC, USA. More dates TBA, though those in the band's home UK can catch the band at shows on January 29th and February 2nd. Download "Ghost Train" above and listen to some more songs over HERE.

hey look another indie band with a prefabricated image and "summery" name that gets instant gigs and press because they pay a pr company what a surprise

Did all that start because of Animal Collective? Because it seems like it.

the 80's called- they want their glasses back.

Beware...the next guy I see dressed anything like this guy is getting punched in the face. Can anyone explain what would possess anyone to dress like this?

Posted by TheSloot | January 13, 2011 3:41 PM

That fellow is no stranger to the hummus platter... That much is certain.

Posted by Anonymous | January 13, 2011 3:47 PM

"Irony" is what possess people to dress like that.

Posted by Anonymous | January 13, 2011 3:49 PM

I hate that patriotism is ironic now.

Posted by Anonymous | January 13, 2011 4:02 PM

both their looks are montreal or paris or cobrasnake from 4 years ago. trickle-down music-nomics, and the cliched name and everything.

this is for people who have nylon subscriptions

Posted by Anonymous | January 13, 2011 4:09 PM

uhm yall love to hate.
their music is pretty good tho!

I feel this is ripping of Vampire Weekend's cover art somehow.

You know the look your parents get when they look at a pic of themselves taken in the 70's - all shaggy, hairy and velvety.

what's funny is until Summer Camp started (you know, less than a year ago), Jeremy Warmsley looked like this:

i like jeremy and summer camp but it is a bit contrived.

Yeah, I noticed that ever since Animal Collective got big in 2009 (also the year I got into a band like them), I've been seeing these types of groups by the dozens afterwards.

Posted by Anonymous | January 13, 2011 4:58 PM

I hope they break down in Arkansas dressed like that.

Posted by Anonymous | January 13, 2011 5:02 PM

@4:51- That is a great find...it's crazy to think that someone who could look like that strives to look like the above picture. All the more reason to get punched in the face. Also, the band Frankie and the Heartstrings made me think of the NY band Trick and the Heartstrings. They were great, whatever happened to them?

Posted by TheSloot | January 13, 2011 5:18 PM

it's funny because even for hipster douchebags this look is outdated. welcome to 2005, england

Posted by Anonymous | January 13, 2011 5:26 PM

what a douche and douchette

Posted by Anonymous | January 13, 2011 5:56 PM

Well, I don't see THAT much difference in those two pictures, but I see where you're getting at.

Posted by Anonymous | January 13, 2011 6:01 PM

One look is starter-level "Grizzly Bear" type hipster, the other is the ALL IN Napoleon Dynamite hipster.

The first look likely indicates the dude still had a job and needed to look presentable. The current look says "I'm in a touring band so I can look absolutely fucking ridiculous and I'm not going to be made fun of walking to my 9-5 job."

Posted by Anonymous | January 13, 2011 6:18 PM

fist = face

Posted by Anonymous | January 13, 2011 6:30 PM

6:18 nailed it

Posted by Anonymous | January 13, 2011 6:34 PM

Can you be ironic about USA patriotism if you are from the UK ?

You don't see dudes in Williamsburg walking around with ironic Union Jack shirts ? .... well actually.... i guess thats entirely possible in doucheberg..

Posted by Anonymous | January 13, 2011 7:47 PM

love all this hate

Posted by Anonymous | January 13, 2011 8:39 PM

Yeah. This guy is a douche. Wear your own damn flag ironically.

Posted by Anonymous | January 13, 2011 8:59 PM

just to play devil's advocate...could his look be doubly ironic, a comment on the irony? but that would only be relevant if irony 1.0 wasn't bullshit

Posted by Anonymous | January 13, 2011 11:18 PM

Sweet animal collective inspired ironic shirt. People need to realize that despite animal collective's ability to make good music those guys are fucking weird. My nick name is geologist, mine is deacon, and mine is some other weird fucking name. Noah Lennox take your head out of your ass you are in your thirties its not normal to call yourself panda bear on a normal fucking basis in conversations.

Posted by Anonymous | January 14, 2011 1:04 AM

alright! 90's rule. haven't heard this band since PURE JUICE.

By looking at their picture I can already tell what music they play. Synth heavy hipster pop, a vocal range of about 4 notes and devoid of any emotion or depth. Amiright?

Posted by Anonymous | January 14, 2011 1:40 AM

I think we've finally found something every bv poster can agree on - what a huge douche that guy is. Can someone e-mail this entire board to the band?

Posted by Anonymous | January 14, 2011 12:45 PM

If douche and douchette board a train leaving doucheburg at 7:45.....

Posted by Anonymous | January 14, 2011 2:33 PM

the second photo lookis like he is modeling for urban outfitters, and the one above lookis like he is shopping in a trift store in the wyoming circa 1977.

This is what happens when chickpeas make up 80% of your diet.

Posted by Anonymous | January 14, 2011 3:01 PM

Yeah the guys does look like a parody of an early noughties hipster
