"Great show. The Jayhawks went on at 8 PM and played for a little under two hours without a break. Hollywood Town Hall was fantastic from the first song to the last. Being one of my all time favorite albums, this was a real treat. They played a couple of new ones which sounded like your typical Jayhawks songs and played a few from Tomorrow the Green Grass including Blue, I'd Run Away and Miss Williams' Guitar.... between the complete HTH album and the few TTGG selections I heard most of the songs I would have liked to hear at any Jayhawks show. They seemed to be enjoying themselves and the crowd was very receptive. The venue was cozy. We managed to stand about four rows deep from mid stage. The sound was excellent. We stood near the back exit for the encore and could still see and hear everything pretty well" [How the Hell Should I Know]The Jayhawks performed Hollywood Town Hall (and more) last night, 1/20, at Webster Hall in NYC. They return to the venue tonight to perform Tomorrow the Green Grass. More pictures, a couple of videos and the setlist from last night below...

No Ten Little Kids... crazy

It must be weird for Mark to sing Mrs. Williams' Guitar. Victoria Williams is who he wrote the song for, and the reason he left the band. Now he's back in the band singing a song about her.
The show was awesome last night.

Does every band in the history of the 1990s have to play their "it-was-mediocre-then-its-not-a-classic-now" album start to finish in a sad attempt to reclaim some relevance? This is just sad.

Relevance? Chill out, counselor.
It’s music - it sound good and makes me happy. Why must this be position to defend? I loved that album when it came out and it was a good time to hear it live with others that also dig it.

5:16 can't wait for Animal Collective to play Merriweather Post Pavilion in 20 years. Preferably at Merriweather Post Pavilion. He'll probably move back to Maryland by then.

5:16... yes, most of these bands provide a more authentic live performance than the hipster garbage that you listen to.. the groups you speak of are established acts and this album is a classic... do yourself a favor and go see bands who have put in the time to evolve and solidify their sound...

I really wish they would add some West Coast dates.
Great post, seems like it was a fun night.

On to philly! Cuidado

5:16 You are stupid. Jayhawks have been around since 85 so they are from the 80's. They also are founders of a genre of alt-country so yes they do have to play the albums.

Always loved the Jayhawks, particularly Hollywood Town Hall, but this gig was mediocre at best.Sound was subpar, Mark Olsen's vocals were poor, little rapport with the audience, and a sense they were going through the motions. Totally uninspiring.

^ Doesn't sound like you were at the same show I was at!

It's true that they were a bit off Thurs night, but more than made up for it Friday night for TTGG. Regardless, seeing The Jayhawks together on stage playing just about anything was a treat.

sure would like that self-tiled disc
