According to (de)vices, "For New Years Eve 2010, The Roots played 3 sets from 11:00PM to 4:00AM, with DJ'd interludes by ?uestlove. This man just doesn't quit." It's true (the man doesn't quit) and you can see the Prince fan and friend DJ again at Brooklyn Bowl on January 6th, January 13th, January 20th, January 27th, February 3rd, February 10th, February 17th, and February 24th (and probably after that too). Tickets are on sale for all of the dates. He'll also honor Martin Luther King with a show at Cielo on January 16th.
The Roots play live again on January 15th at Showcase Live in Foxboro, MA (and constantly on Fallon).
At midnight on New Year's Eve, the band literally came marching in. Watch the videos below...

worst crowd ever.

The crowd at this show was AWFUL. Everyone was more concerned with taking pictures for their Facebook page rather than chilling out and enjoying the show. Left after the 1st set and didn't look back.

Seriously, what's the approximate ratio for brothers to dorky white dudes at Roots' shows?
Posted by Anonymous | January 3, 2011 3:42 PM
way too crowded. they were letting in people without tickets if they payed a "$100 cover" at the door.

You paid $75 and left after the first set because people were taking pictures for their Facebook? What a dipshit.
But yeah, I showed up after midnight about halfway through the last set and paid $20 to get in. Band sounded great, but I was surprised how few people were still there.

Was originally disappointed we didn't get tix for this show....now I couldn't be happier we missed it.
The Rock Shop had Mr. Brownstone and it was..as the Facebook lovers from this Roots show would say "off the hook".

The Roots are better on record than live. PLAY THE SONGS, I DONT WANT A BUNCH OF 70's/80's COVERS AND EXTENDED JAMS OF RAP SONGS
Posted by Anonymous | January 3, 2011 11:10 PM
Dude, they played 3 fucking sets over 4 hours. There's gonna be some "extended jams" and covers. Sheesh.
Posted by Anonymous | January 3, 2011 11:20 PM
i meant more during their regular shows.
Posted by Anonymous | January 3, 2011 11:31 PM
yeah, they've been playing smells like teen spirit for years. once you've seen the roots, youve seen them.
