He got a few things wrong there. There will be a ton of free downloads!! And well...no twitter? He wrote that on Twitter. No tabloid pictures? Whats the pic above?

Amen. Take note, Brooklyn.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 10:24 AM

so does this mean a new album?

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 10:24 AM

Well, thank god for that.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 10:32 AM

That missive occurred as a breath of fresh air

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 10:34 AM

via Twitter: "There will be NO twitter"

- ummm ok?

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 10:35 AM

There will be NO fans.
There will be NO new ideas.

In attempting to be "real", he has written pretentious nonsense.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 10:45 AM

@10:45 and your point?

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 10:55 AM

Wow Portished sounds a lot like a library. Too many rules and boring!

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 10:55 AM

There will be NO fun!!!

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 11:00 AM

I wish he had wrote, "There will be no Terminal 5"

Posted by Dan | January 10, 2011 11:08 AM

what Dan said FTW

Posted by janelle | January 10, 2011 11:11 AM

"There will be none of the necessary promotional strategies any up-and-coming band might need to implement to get noticed, because we are a well-established band who already has a devoted following."

Wait until no one buys your compact disc because we all downloaded it for free because your last record was dated and boring, and we know better than to get burned twice.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 11:16 AM

@11:08 - That just made me laugh. Nice one.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 11:18 AM

library? boring? no way!

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 11:18 AM

i'm sure they'll have merch for sale at their shows.
what a liar.

hah.

but really, geoff is a year or two shy from yelling at kids to get off his lawn it seems.

stay off twitter and release your record already!
(or unintentionally leak it)

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 11:29 AM

and i will NOT be listening to this pretentious bs.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 11:30 AM

pretty sure no fashion lines mean exactly that and not as a reference to merch.

can't wait.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 11:31 AM

shut up dude.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 11:37 AM

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 11:52 AM

About fucking time

It's all about Anika

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 11:54 AM

More than half of these comments just makes me realize how pathetic hipsters really are......

this site used to have maybe 3 or 4 comments per post....

now we're getting more and more dumb hummus comments, daft punk comments....

I wish I could stop reading this site sometimes but I can't after following it for more than 6 years.

But hipsters and whoever likes to comment on hummus, please keep your comment to yourself.

Thank you.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 11:57 AM

^ fuck you.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 12:00 PM

will there be an ATP NY? that's all i want to know...

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 12:01 PM

@11:57 see you at titus at mercury lounge

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 12:15 PM

I think this guy just likes making music and hates being bothered with the business side of things. He probably had terrible meetings with the record company that releases his stuff and was sick of the whole thing.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 12:25 PM

It's elitist not to be a whore, apparently. "Paint A Vulgar Picture" indeed.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 12:46 PM

AMEN 11:08...set dates already!

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 12:50 PM

Anika>Portishead

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 1:10 PM

I love that the comments Geoff Barrow made. Portishead can do ^no wrong in my book and in this day and age of image savvy BS marketing campaigns, it's refreshing to see such a rebellion from the facebook style of gayness that pervades all of pop culture these days.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 1:34 PM

portishead rules. they are unvonventional in a brilliant way.

i hope the beak> record is better than the first :)

"There will be NO myspace"

(tumbleweed....silence)

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 1:53 PM

I wish bands would realize that the "business" side of what they do is necessary. The whole "I'm an artist and don't want to take part of the business side" argument is a total cop-out. Unless you don't accept a paycheck for what you do, you HAVE to be involved in the business side of your art. Unless you want it to be handled by other hacks who water down your own music.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 2:00 PM

beak> is awesome

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 2:20 PM

Portishead 3 is as good as their other albums. It just took a few more listens before it got me... But I think all 3 of their albums are 10/10

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 2:24 PM

I think it's great. We're here everyday talking about what sell-outs and corporate whores everyone is and when someone shows some integrity we shit on them too?

Posted by gxterm | January 10, 2011 2:57 PM

2:34 is making an excellent point.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 3:46 PM

2:34: Totally agree.

But just ignore these (most of them) trendy losers. Nobody truly cares what they say anyway (probably in real life also!).

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 3:49 PM

go 11:08 / 2:34

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 3:51 PM

For a long time I always hear how awful terminal 5 is, and also for years I have been having amazing times there.
I really don't understand why there is such a problem with T5. Perhaps it's only short people that have problems because if the sightline? I dunno... It's a decent venue in my book, not my favorite, but I would be thrilled to see portishead there.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 3:55 PM

2:34,

They're not showing any "integrity" of any kind. They use the same outlets to promote their music that most other artists use. Nothing against that, but this predictable bid for credibility (whatever that means these days) is not sincere in any way.

Posted by Anonymous | January 10, 2011 4:28 PM

Regardless of how they are marketing themselves, I have to admit that I hate Asian/European/Special/Remastered/Deluxe editions of albums. Just release one album.
