trying to figure out who the bigger pussies are...the queer boston straight-edge douches, or the trustfund hippies from Vermont. I think I'll head to Bowery Electric with my vodka and OJ and contemplate.

When a band is referred to as straightedge it's usually because a lot of their lyrics talk about it

I would go and help you do you contemplating on the subject, but NOT at Bowery Electric... That is where "THE MOM FROM HELL" works.
Everytime I go there she comes out of her chambers and starts yelling and screaming at everybody in attendance.

@8:52...I was curious myself, so I looked up some of their lyrics. There is a lot of talk about having a clear mind, and all of that bullshit. Plus a lot of mention of how they need to take to the streets and band together...the whole fighting against the "social norm". All of the lyrics I can find make Linkin Park look like Shakespeare. My favorite lyric..."A party's no fun if there's no brew,I can only feel sorry for you, 'Cause I've had a blast all my life. Never needed any puke-filled strife"
Right....neeeexxxxttt

Great straightedge bands that dont have corny lyrics:
Minor Threat
Indecision
Most Precious Blood
And newer ones:
Foundation
Mindset
Most hardcore lyrics are straight-forward. Thats the point. They dont hide behind faux-poetic nonsense, some bands do it better than others, but the ones I mentioned get their message across well, and they dont ONLY talk about not drinking/smoking. Mindset has some of the best socially conscious lyrics out there now.

Did DYS show up last night? If so, how was the show and how much material off of "Brotherhood" was played?
Posted by Anonymous | January 3, 2011 8:17 AM
indecision wasn't a straightedge band
