snowy Brooklyn (Nate Dorr)
snow

Tonight's sold out White Lies/Asobi Seksu show at Highline Ballroom has been cancelled due to the lovely weather we're having.

Charles Cave, in a note to their fans has said, "we're bitterly disappointed to cancel our NYC show. We've been excited about it for months but a freak snow storm has made it impossible for us to get there. We promise to reschedule the show as soon as possible and return to the big apple in style. We're all really sorry." Ticket refunds are available at point of purchase, stay tuned for news on an upcoming New York City show this spring.
You can however still catch Asobi Seksu at Mercury Lounge on February 17th with Family Band and Elika (and BRAHMS djing between sets). Tickets are still on sale.

Any other shows cancelled that you know about?

Too bad the new album is even more boring than the first one.

By more boring you mean better than the first one? Because it is better.

That's what happens when you have a SHIT tour manager I guess

Your Youth, ARMS, Naam & Liturgy (w/Shy Child DJ) is still happening at Union Pool. and it's FREE!

How is it a freak snow storm if it occurs in January?

Posted by Anonymous | January 27, 2011 2:57 PM

Well, considering the band is from the UK (where they don't really get much snow), I guess HE would consider it a freak snow storm.

Considering the UK got a lot of snow this year, I guess YOU don't know what you're talking about

Posted by Anonymous | January 27, 2011 3:27 PM

I know that they've gotten a lot THIS year, but not normally. So maybe this year would be a freak snow YEAR for the UK in general. But, nice try anyway.

The bottom line is, if their tour manager was even halfway decent, he would've checked the weather for NYC and tried to get them on an earlier flight as opposed to around 10pm LA time last night. If they left yesterday morning they would be here and the show would be no problem

Posted by Anonymous | January 27, 2011 3:39 PM

True.

Oh well, bummer for them and the fans though.

Eh, this is just a warm-up promo tour anyways. It's not like this band is going to "break" in the U.S. anyways.

Posted by Anonymous | January 27, 2011 4:28 PM

Hey 4:28--"Anyways" is not a word.

Posted by Anonymous | January 27, 2011 6:48 PM

Hey 6:48--There is really no formal setting here. There are really other things to worry about. Like if you've left the frying pan on the stovetop for too long.

why are people so obsessed with yuck and total slacker. Real Estate is the band of 2011

Posted by Anonymous | January 27, 2011 8:27 PM

@3:39

Perhaps they had other press and business to do whilst in LA? Do you know the whole story? Or do you just have some personal vendetta against said tour manager?

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2011 12:37 PM

@12:37 pm

Perhaps they realised they are shit and decided to give the good people of NY a break.

Posted by Harry's A Douche | January 28, 2011 8:27 PM

@12:37 Given that I spoke with the band about it and they told me they regret spending that day in LA just hanging out, I think it's a pretty safe bet that they didn't have any business in LA

@ 8:27 pm

LOL! Bit harsh, they're not that bad. New album blows but you win some, you lose some.

I've lived with active alcoholics for years, and if they wanted to succeed from the family I know a few family members that would hold the door for them on the way out

I'm laughing at the frowny baby in the picture and all of the people who take him and his band seriously.
