Red State

"The event is a screening of Kevin Smith's latest film, Red State. He will be screening the film and then be doing a Q&A about the film after the screening.

Ever since Clerks (co-winner of the Filmmakers Trophy at the 1994 Sundance Film Festival), Kevin Smith has been known for his sharp, subversive, comedic writing. He shifts from comedy to horror with Red State and aptly demonstrates that good writing transcends genre.

Instead of relying on archetypes and predictable formulas, Smith meticulously fashions all-too-real characters, utilizing exceptional performances (notably by Michael Parks) and an intelligent script. His realistic style gives the film an intimate feeling, heightening the terror to biblical proportions. Red State is a shocking new kind of horror film that aggressively confronts higher powers and extreme doctrines with a vengeance. "

Dude is such a greedy asshole, and the majority of his movies are total pieces of shit. He charges insane amounts of money for his Q&A sessions everywhere he plays.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2011 10:46 AM

charging for a Q&A session is the most conceited thing you can do

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2011 10:49 AM

First question I would ask is why are tickets so much?

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2011 10:52 AM

Motherfucker needs to eat. I mean, have you seen the size of him? I'm sure there will be plenty of hummus.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2011 10:56 AM

dude broke a toilet bowl off the wall

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2011 10:57 AM

Smith is way past his prime.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2011 10:58 AM

I don't get where the money goes. Dude wears the same fucking trenchcoat and capri pants every time I see him.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2011 11:00 AM

The best seat in the house at Radio City to watch a Kevin Smith film is 'obstructed view seating'. That way you won't have to be exposed to the horrible cinematography inherent in all his films.

Also, bring earplugs.

>>I don't get where the money goes. Dude wears the same fucking trenchcoat and capri pants every time I see him.

Apparently you have been missing the belly under that trenchcoat.

This guy is a douche bag for charging this much for a movie but the bigger douche will be the guy that actually pays for it.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2011 11:06 AM

Met him at a signing years ago - biggest douche. Everything after dogma was shit, he's just the biggest whore now.

$142.70 for a movie?
That's my yearly fund allocation for chickpeas.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2011 11:20 AM

OMG SUCH A CLEVER TITLE KEVIN OMG STOP MAKING MOVIES FOREVER THANK YOU JESUS CHRIST

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2011 11:27 AM

DO you know how much fuel is required to get his fat ass to NYC? That's why the tickets are so expensive

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2011 11:32 AM

Wow, so much hate for Kevin Smith. Sure his last few movies had much to be desired but I've seen much worse. And I may not pay over a hundy to see him but I sure as heck got my tickets for Indianapolis at $55. Dude sells out on his talks and is hilarious to listen to. Couple it with a movie, why not? Hell, some theaters are charging $15 just to see a movie nowadays by itself. How many directors are gonna go out and show up at the end to answer questions? Sounds like a fantastic time for any Smith fan, which there are still many of.

Could there be a worst filmmaker? He and M. Night should start a production company -- Craptastic Productions.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2011 11:57 AM

his movies blow now but he's still hilarious in person

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2011 12:00 PM

fat fuck - he needs all that money to buy Ho-Ho's and Twinkies

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2011 12:11 PM

the guy said himself that he's doing what he can to get $$ back - trying to recoup the 2 mil (or whatever) that investors put into the movie upfront so they can break even sooner and get their $$ back. and then something like "why spend 20 million marketing a movie that cost 2 million to make?"

or something like that. he said something like that. i read it somewhere.

Posted by imreadyforabeernow. | January 28, 2011 12:16 PM

oh and no, i wouldn't pay $10 to see that movie. or hear him talk about it. or sit next to a guy who would pay that much to hear that guy talk about that movie. nope. i'll be at the bar thanks.

Posted by imreadyforabeernow. | January 28, 2011 12:18 PM

He still hasn't apologized for "Cop Out"

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2011 12:20 PM

i'd pay that much to bed him all night long

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2011 12:21 PM

I once payed that much to an older Lebanese gentleman for an ancient hummus recipe. It was totally worth it.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2011 12:24 PM

^HAA! i once paid that to a hummus queen for a handjob!

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2011 12:46 PM

^did she use the chick pea oil for lube?

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2011 12:59 PM

This is for you, 11:14:

MEHvin sMEHth

Also, he's so rotund that he must buy at least 2 plane seats to fly (true story) so maybe that's why the tix are so much $.

Kevin Smith is textbook guy who made a movie with all the events that happened in his life up to that point. Hence why Clerks is completely amazing and everything after gradually goes down in story/dialogue quality.

Everyone in the world could make one great movie with their life story.

Posted by Cuse | January 28, 2011 1:45 PM

Dude dresses like a blind 12-year-old with glandular issues.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2011 1:45 PM

Dude wears shants

You ain't Fat, you ain't nuthin.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2011 1:56 PM

hey can we please try to be civil about this, people? Smith's weight has nothing to do with why his movies are horrid pieces of shit.

Posted by isfet | January 28, 2011 2:03 PM

Yeah, just look at Peter Jackson. He was better when he was fat, since he lost all that weight he's been sucky.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2011 2:09 PM

Already got my ticket. Kevin Smith Q&As are worth the price alone.

Posted by Cody Banks | January 28, 2011 3:37 PM

Posted by al | January 28, 2011 3:37 PM

In LA, he used to do free Q&A's after midnight screenings of his movies.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2011 4:20 PM

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2011 4:23 PM

"Kevin Smith Q&As are worth the price alone."

That just sounds insane! $70 - $140 for a bad movie & an hour and a half of Q&A with a rich-as-fuck raging narcissist who puts on an unconvincing faux-humble act has to be one of the worst ways you could spend ANY money EVER.

Also: the dude has about a dozen Q&A DVDs on the market already (not to mention the copious amount of DVD commentaries & various forms of online word-slinging he does). Isn't that enough to sate even the most die-hard Kevin Smith fan?

Such a Greedy Fuck...
