UPDATE: Here is the official press release:

February 15, 2011, New York, NY -- Superfly Productions and A.C. Entertainment are excited to announce the initial lineup for the 2011 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. The 10th annual four-day camping and music festival will be held on June 9 - 12 on the same beautiful 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee, 60 miles south of Nashville. A full list of confirmed acts follows, and more will be announced in the coming weeks. The final Bonnaroo 2011 lineup will total over 125 bands and over 20 comedians performing on 13 stages over four days.Tickets for the event will go on sale on this Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 12noon eastern exclusively at bonnaroo.com.

The 2011 event marks the 10th year for the legendary festival, which began in 2002 as a remarkable idea to serve a passionate yet underappreciated and overlooked fanbase, and ended up becoming the premier multi-day concert destination of the summer whose dynamic and eclectic programming paved the way for the age of the great American music festival. This year's lineup is yet another fine example of the incomparable eclecticism for which Bonnaroo has become famous. Featured acts include: Eminem, Arcade Fire, Widespread Panic, The Black Keys, My Morning Jacket and Lil' Wayne, String Cheese Incident, Robert Plant & Band of Joy, Mumford & Sons, The Strokes, The Decemberists, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Florence + the Machine, Girl Talk, Primus, Big Boi, Gregg Allman, Robyn, Deerhunter, Sleigh Bells, Amos Lee, Opeth, Del McCoury and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Wanda Jackson, The Walkmen and an exclusive festival performance by Buffalo Springfield featuring Richie Furay, Stephen Stills, Neil Young, Rick Rosas and Joe Vitale. This year's lineup will again cement Bonnaroo as a force in music discovery, exposing its fans to legendary artists, current favorites, as well as breaking acts.

As one of the special programming highlights of its 10th year, Bonnaroo is excited to announce a rare joint appearance by Dr. John and The Original Meters recreating, in its entirety, the legendary 1974 album Desitively Bonnaroo, the source of the festival's moniker. Another celebratory aspect to the programming, organizers have confirmed Eugene Hutz as the curator of this year's specialty venue, dubbed "Global Gypsy Punk Revue." Continuing Bonnaroo's tradition as a platform for historic collaborations, the festival is announcing the return of the SuperJam featuring Dr. John, the Black Key's Dan Auerbach and more to be announced soon.

As the only round-the-clock major U.S. music festival, Bonnaroo packs an unparalleled amount of entertainment options into its four days. The event has offered its attendees the amenities and community spirit of a small city, with 24 hours of activities including a comedy theater, cinema festival, broo'ers festival, silent disco, salon, sustainable gardening lessons, arcade, Internet cafés, restaurants, yoga classes and hundreds of high quality craft vendors. About the 2010 event, Rolling Stone hailed, "In its ninth year, Bonnaroo has done an impressive job of hanging on to its reputation as one of the most eclectic music and arts festivals," while the Wall Street Journal called it "one of rock's best festivals," and MTV claimed, "If you're angling for a road trip - there's no better destination."

In celebration of Bonnaroo's 10th year and in recognition of the festival's iconic status, Ben & Jerry's will be making Bonnaroo Buzz available for purchase in pints in frozen foods freezers across the country as the company has selected it to be one of its prestigious flavors for 2011. Bonnaroo Buzz is the flavor Ben & Jerry's designed in 2010 specifically in honor of the festival. Until now, it was only available in Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shops.

Man these fetivals are worse than usual.

Wow, Buffalo Springfield really are doing dates! Maybe we'll get an MSG night.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 12:03 PM

WHAT THE FUCK

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 12:05 PM

what crap.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 12:06 PM

this is really gross/exactly what I would expect

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 12:08 PM

About time My Morning Jacket played again!

Also, Opeth. WTF?...well, sure!

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 12:09 PM

Great lineup as it is usual with Bonnaroo. Don't expect it to get love from BV readers with narrow taste range.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 12:09 PM

Who knew the 22-20's still even existed

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 12:12 PM

NEIL YOUG LIL WAYNE BOOTSY SUPERJAM!!!!

Posted by Doing in Right | February 15, 2011 12:12 PM

It is a good line up, but I am still holding out for Lolla and the rest of ATP, a lot of these groups I can still see in NYC, and as much as I love Buffalo, the video of them performing at Bridge School sounded awful. As it is always with Bonnaroo, a lot of things I'd love to see, but I know I don't have enough time to see them all.

Posted by BLG | February 15, 2011 12:14 PM

Daft punk?

Posted by anonymous | February 15, 2011 12:16 PM

We're still doing our BV shlong size survey. The current average rests at 8.255", and please feel free to contribute!

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 12:16 PM

MUMFORD & SONS SHOULD BE HEADLINING!!!

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 12:21 PM

eminem = angry/ boring

giant fest crowd to see eminem= annoying/ intolerable

eminem + giant fest crowd = horrible

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 12:21 PM

WHAT IS THIS ARCADE ON FIRE?

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 12:22 PM

They really fucked it up this time
Didn't they, my dear?

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 12:23 PM

Wait, Wavves AND Best Coast? I'm there.

But seriously, only interesting non-jam acts I see that Coachella doesn't have are Explosions in the Sky, Beirut and a reunited Man Man.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 12:24 PM

this is a very solid lineup.

Agreed, these festivals are sucking kinda hard this year.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 12:30 PM

Javanotti?

I don't know what is worse: the misspelling of his name (seriously? they can't get his name right?) or the fact that he is playing.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 12:30 PM

Merzbow to be announced at Midnight

Posted by Doing in Right | February 15, 2011 12:32 PM

THE BAD BEATS THE GOOD WITH THIS LINE UP,FUCK MAN I SO DOWN ABOUT THIS LINE UP ESPECIALLY SINCE ITS THE 10TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY FOR THE ROO,WHAT HAPPENED BONNAROO YOU USED TO BE COOL MAN?

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 12:33 PM

The suck that are these festival lineups are making me nervous about my ATP pass.

Also, been to Bonnarroo before, none of this makes me want to travel, camp in sweltering temps and deal with crowds.

Posted by BLG | February 15, 2011 12:33 PM

Eminem headliner ruins this for me.

Posted by Day Man | February 15, 2011 12:34 PM

Sick lineup.

For those that think it "sucks", offer up an argument on who you think should be included instead of just whining like a little bitch.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 12:43 PM

12:43 - eminem headlining frightens me

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 12:47 PM

You don't even need to replace Eminem. Just take him out of the lineup and festival as a whole will be better for it. Can you imagine the crowd he's going to draw?

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 12:47 PM

This is quite a hodge-podge. Who is the target audience?

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 12:53 PM

You think it's a hodge-podge? To me, it works perfectly. Stonerish indie types with a jam band edge who listened to Eminem when they were teenagers is what I get out of this lineup.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 12:56 PM

a veritable who's who of suck.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 12:57 PM

How easy is it to just not go to the Eminem stage..
Basically no Eminem fan is driving up to Bonnaroo just for him, he tours all the time

I bet Coachellan's are crying right now, they were hoping pretty hard for Neil Young for like forever

anyways solid lineup, fuck Eminem

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 12:59 PM

@12:53- hmm, i think they might have been going for music lovers this year, you know those people who listen to more than one genre.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 1:00 PM

@1:00pm is right
that's why Eminem, Mumford, Cold War Kids and Ratatat are so high up on the billing.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 1:03 PM

12:53, this is for people who don't know what they like or why they like it.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 1:04 PM

^Also is why Bonnaroo is putting chips into their wristbands to prevent resale - so the kids can't buy 2nd market tickets for reduced price.

Music lovers only plz. Also, bring Nitrous, Thx.

Regards,
Bonnaroo.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 1:05 PM

why would this lineup have anything at all to do with atp?

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 1:07 PM

The undercard seems pretty stacked to me. Also excited to see 3 of my favorite bands on the same bill (My Morning Jacket, The Strokes, The Black Keys)

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 1:07 PM

wavves!!

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 1:07 PM

aside from deerhunter, meh

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 1:09 PM

eh, certainly doesnt make me wanna run out and buy a ticket. a little too much on the country hippie jam side for me.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 1:09 PM

"Bonnaroo Buzz is the flavor Ben & Jerry's designed in 2010 specifically in honor of the festival. Until now, it was only available in Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shops"

public unveiling of ice cream flavor > Eminem

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 1:09 PM

The only festival that matters this summer is Phish.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 1:10 PM

JUST ADDED: The Hives!!!!

What do the dudes think of Bonnaroo? see now at

http://2dudes1musicblog.wordpress.com/

Posted by Aep22 | February 15, 2011 1:13 PM

Kylesa, Opeth, STS9, maybe a few other decent bands, and then a whole lot of nonsense.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 1:24 PM

Roo main stage with a jumbotron of James and the gang's last show at MSG (in the TN heat) > Eminem

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 1:28 PM

Holy shit that 2dudes1musicblog basically exemplifies the crowd I am expecting to swarm Coachella this year.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 1:28 PM

If I were a bonnaroo type of guy, I'd be worried about Em. There's gonna be about 1500 kids hitchhiking from their parents meth labs to catch this, that will disrupt a handful of other acts. It's like all the white trash fake punks that showed up to ATP last year for Iggy. Just because somebody's a draw doesn't mean they're a good fit, no matter how good Em could rap over a decade ago.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 1:29 PM

Solid lineup but still OH SO BORING. Same as Coachella....BORING.

It's great to live in NYC where we can see most of these acts solo.

Next disappointment will be Lolla.

Electric Zoo might well surprise all of us with Daft Punk. Odds?

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 1:44 PM

tell grandma that buffalo springfield are back

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 1:44 PM

Any idea when the Lolla lineup will be announced?

Posted by Dan | February 15, 2011 1:48 PM

What no LCD reunion?

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 1:51 PM

Lolla doesn't come out until April. The next big drop will probably be Pitchfork.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 2:12 PM

What, no Esperenza Spalding?!

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 2:17 PM

I hope that All Points West will be good this year.

i bought two tickets and reserved an RV during pre-sale

reserving the RV was only like a nonrefundable $100 deposit

even if something about these stupid RFID wristbands doesn't allow me to dump these tickets on craigslist i'm not going to this shit, OUT OF SPITE

at least i still have the lcd msg pit to look forward to

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 2:33 PM

whiz khalifa + chiddy bang = hipster rappp

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 2:40 PM

pitchfork is definitely gonna book LCD and the D plan.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 2:46 PM

2:46:

LCD headlined pitchfork last year. So no.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 2:54 PM

OH ALL OF A SUDDEN THIS BAND WINS AN UNDESERVED GRAMMY AND THE NEXT DAY THEY ARE HEADLINING FESTIVASL - REALLY AMERICA?

Posted by daftpunk040111 | February 15, 2011 3:01 PM

@1:29 that was the conventional wisdom in 2008 when metallica headlined but that was a terrific year, the crowd was fine.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 3:05 PM

why the hate?

there's something here for everyone
there's a lot here for everyone

bonnaroo rocks
everyone should go at least once

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 3:42 PM

no Jack Johnson no care

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 3:46 PM

3:42+3:46 = reason I will never attend Bonnaroo

If you want to be optimistic/dumb comment on another website

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 4:00 PM

crazy how this thing used to be a crazy hippy fest with insane acts one after another and now it's just another boring ol festival with too much hype around it's name.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 4:00 PM

i went to bonnaroo two years ago and only saw one act on the main stage the whole time (springsteen) and had an amazing time. definitely worth renting an RV with a bunch of friends. only cost like 200 each for the RV which is well worth it for the drive and the 4 nights.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 4:10 PM

I love reading all the comments you idiots make.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 4:14 PM

has anyone said "bonapoo" yet?

bonapoo.

Posted by stefan urquelle | February 15, 2011 4:15 PM

lame

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 4:19 PM

I see a lot of comments saying "quit bitching about Eminem." Well you will hear bitching all through bonnaroo. Specifically during these acts:

• Eminem
• Arcade Fire
• Widespread Panic
• The Black Keys
My Morning Jacket
• Lil Wayne

And the worst news is: MORE TO BE ANNOUNCED!!!

Posted by greg steff | February 15, 2011 4:25 PM

I love the eclectic nature of Bonnaroo! Where else can you see Merle Haggard, NIN, Beastie Boys, MGMT, Springsteen, Bon Iver, Elvis Costello, Al Green and Public Enemy in one weekend!

What makes it even better is the area is so beautiful and everyone is so chill! Plus, the music goes on until 3 or 4 in the morning...

You guys need to lighten up a bit and just enjoy yourself and maybe expand your horizons (musically).

FYI: If you want the newest of new music, you are not going to find it at most of the big festivals.

Music needs not be so serious. Try to enjoy it.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 4:27 PM

No daft punk- what the fuck?

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 4:53 PM

Yeah, of course people here are going to trash this. I say whoever's going to this will probably enjoy it. Some people need to get a life.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 4:54 PM

when the headliner is eminem and late night is girl talk i think people are justified in being slightly put off

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 5:14 PM

No MUSE or no Daft Punk no GO... Common Lolla and save the year! Bonnaroo has at least 10 acts on there preliminary list that they had last year. Not saying that whoever goes wont have an AMAZING time, but they could of done A LOT better..

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 6:25 PM

5:14: Why's that? Seriously, I'm curious.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 6:55 PM

best act at boneroo was the naked wizard that got tasered.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 8:03 PM

jack white is teaming up with off!. they will be called jackoff!

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 8:36 PM

@1:07 Was just saying that the festival lineups have been underwhelming, hope it is not a theme for all festival lineups. No logic whatsoever.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 8:45 PM

@6:55 - because eminem does not create music or really anything of enjoyment and girl talk alienates people over 21

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 8:56 PM

niggaz like hummus? < what time does daft punk play?

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 8:59 PM

Lines up sucks!! I expected more or at least some for year 10! Bela fleck with victor is it for this year. If it doesn't change im out

Posted by omatty | February 15, 2011 9:16 PM

GREAT lineup. Way better than last years Bonnaroo lineup, and miles ahead of Coachella this year.

My main knock on the Coachella lineup is that even though they did obviously get a lot of really talented bands, it was nothing groundbreaking. at all. Kings of Leon must've been picked as a back up plan or something, I really fahkin doubt anyone at Coachella cares about Kings of Leon.Arcade Fire is great, but jeez they are playing all the time, and headlined Lollapalooza last year. It's not like it's such different crowds going to these festivals, Coachella has a reputation of booking legendary bands\reunions, and 2 of the 4 headliners are kinda underwhelming. (as well as Animal Collective and MUMFORD AND SONS being on the second billing, seriously wtf?)

Props to Bonnaroo for mixing it up. Eminem does NOT always play, thats a gross lie and its getting harder to get to see him, and one of the most popular rappers in the whole world of all time. Same with Lil Wayne (I absolutely despise Lil Wayne, whatever it just means I won't go to his stage, diversity people).

Festival obviously could be better (there's virtually no hip hop after those 2), pretty decent indie selection, pretty solid reunions, a little too much jammies, very solid electronic selection, and they're still gonna announce a ton more... definitely should be one of the best festivals in 11! Lighten up people stop being so fahkin jaded!

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 9:21 PM

9:21 has a boneroo for bonnaroo

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 9:32 PM

nah I'm just longwinded

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 9:36 PM

Daft Punk's on at 4:15am! I'm bringing the pita!

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 9:38 PM

Hard to judge this against last year's Roo until the rest of the lineup gets announced. Arcade Fire, the Strokes, MMJ, Primus (NOT just Claypool), Big Boi, the Black Keys, Opeth, Deerhunter, Ratatat, and Girl Talk on the same bill is insane. Yeah the crowd will probably be annoyingly bro-ish due to Eminem and Lil Wayne, but there's no way it can be worse than the people who came for Jay-Z and Dave Matthews Band last year. There were seriously frat dudes just sitting in their tents all weekend until those shows happened, which is just sad and ridiculous.

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 10:01 PM

it's like that sometimes
i mean ridiculous

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2011 1:27 AM

Wah! I’m nervous. 2 words: stay home.

Posted by Seerina | February 17, 2011 6:08 AM

why only mention the shitty bands, like little wayne over a solid jamband? this fear of good jambands needs to end, get over yourself

Posted by sage | February 19, 2011 8:49 AM

Who's going to headline or worth heading each night? Enimem makes sense cause if you don't appreciate his talent than you might want to stay home. Widespread, they're at Roo all the time. Aradic Fire, they have to earn a headliner first. Lil' Wayne, there goes the teens you mentioned, really, headliner, not for me. Not enough meat in the lineup for me throughtout the weekend like there was years past. 10 years? Not very exciting to spend the cash and traveling the distance.

Posted by Anonymous | February 19, 2011 9:04 AM

already sold out! I'll be there. willing to trade an extra bonnaroo ticket for an LCD SS MSG pit ticket

Posted by Anonymous | February 19, 2011 1:55 PM

What time is Daft Punk brining Eminem on?

Posted by Anonymous | February 19, 2011 1:58 PM

thank you a lot's man

Yeah, this years line up sucks. He is right to be concerned about the crowd, 2 years ago Bruce springstein was there and the roo was overcrowded with New Jersey Folk, even saw a snooki (jk, south park joke). So yeah, expect a large thug and wannabe thug crowd....The crowd is 50% of the roo really, 4 days of filth and joy.

TO me, it looks like they are unsuccessfully attempting to thin out the best acts to have a more even concert.... probably trying to boost up the lesser known bands with the extra money, but not enough.

Yeah, if they get too more real rockers like the Rolling stones and bob dylan.... I would be happy. I didnt notice any DJs of note.
