DOWNLOAD: Northless - "Flesh & Ghost" (MP3)

Northless
Northless

Northless hails from the frozen tundra known as Milwaukee, and this band must believe in warming themselves with glowing amplifier tubes. From the first stuttering doom-riff to the dueling tectonic shifts that follow, Northless's Clandestine Abuse (out now) is a series of battering rams disguised as songs, and just plain pummeling. Check out "Flesh & Ghost" from the LP above/streaming below, the title track at NPR, and "Damnation" at OMGVinyl... for fans of High on Fire (doy), Unearthly Trance, Kowloon-Walled City. Save some bones and pick up Clandestine Abuse with the two Fell Voices LPs as a combo pack.

In other heavy news, Lake of Blood have released their newest LP via Human Jigsaw, As Time And Tide Erodes Stone. Stream the record below, preorder the CD, or by the digital at their bandcamp. It's an impressive piece of work, especially if you are a fan of Krallice, Fell Voices, Dispirit, and modern USBM sans the corpsepaint.

Crusty thrashers Dödsfälla will team up with Oiltanker and Praetura (mem-Defeatist, ex-ASRA) to play Silent Barn on April 23rd. $8 gets you into the 8PM show and more info is available at the facebook invite.

Nunslaughter
Nunslaughter

And last, but certainly not least, Nunslaughter will play NYC for the first time in ten years (!) unleashing hellfire with support from Disma (!), Panzerbastard (!), Mutant Supremacy, and more TBA at Acheron on March 26th. Fans of brutal death metal and the depths of depravity, this is a must see. The Brooklyn show is one of a few dates laid out for the Pittsburgh death-dealers, including a shwing at Maryland Deathfest. All Nunslaughter dates are below.

That Lake of Blood Stream, those Northless streams, and all suggested upcoming NYC shows are below...

Swans have nothing to do with metal and Gira would chuckle at that shirt on these "doom" indie metal bands.

the three northless tracks I've heard from the new album are truly disturbing. can't wait to hear 'em live.

@7:39 really, would Gira chuckle? Enlighten us.

Will there ever be a metal band where the dudes something different?

Posted by Anonymous | February 26, 2011 9:51 AM

Swans are a HUGE influence on many, many metal bands, whether 'indie' fans like it or not! No, they're not metal, but you can hear their influence everywhere!

Posted by Anonymous | February 26, 2011 10:08 AM

For $12 bucks, it would be worth it to see this: "NunSlaughter is 23 years old and still metal as fuck. Continuing on the journey that is the underground there are many new black masses planned."

Posted by BLG | February 26, 2011 11:19 AM

Harvey Weinstein is in Northless?

Posted by Anonymous | February 26, 2011 2:10 PM

Poor little puppy! All wet and cold waiting to see NunSlaughter.

"Swans have nothing to do with metal and Gira would chuckle at that shirt on these "doom" indie metal bands."

Haha, first thought I had upon seeing those pictures. Never mind the dissenters bitching.

Nunslaughter and SOIA's 25th Anniv show on the same night = SUCKS for me.

Posted by Anonymous | February 26, 2011 8:35 PM

More doom sludge copycat bands sounding a like.

Posted by Anonymous | February 26, 2011 9:53 PM

These doom metal indie kids sure like to tell us they are cool by their t shirts from the band they discovered maybe five years ago.

Posted by Anonymous | February 26, 2011 9:56 PM

Doom Hummus.

Posted by Anonymous | February 26, 2011 11:15 PM

Northless is sweeeettt.

Posted by john | February 27, 2011 5:50 PM

SWANS were and always will be a metal band!
Ask my mother! She reacts the same way to them as she does to TESTAMENT. If you want, argue with her . . . you'll lose. Swans are metal to everyone except for you . . . loser.

Posted by SWANS = WHITE ZOMBIE | February 27, 2011 8:04 PM

When's that Disma CD coming out? Swans are a "hot" band right now even though they used to be just for goth art fags.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2011 12:56 PM

stop talking about which band tees warrant cred and start talking about the music.
