Florence & The Machine at Terminal 5 (more by Chris La Putt)
Florence & The Machine

"ARETHA TRIBUTE
Enough to put Aretha six feet under.
Note to Christina... SUBTLETY! And just because you're in the public eye that doesn't mean anybody wants to pay to see you. What planet are you living on? AND LOSE THE HAND!
As to why Florence and Martina were there...can you say DEMOGRAPHICS?
At least Jennifer Hudson can sing, even if she does look like a completely different person."
[Bob Lefsetz]
It's finally warmer out, so what a perfect time to be thinking about Central Park Summerstage. Fresh off the Grammy Awards, Florence and the Machine have announced a show happening at Central Park Summerstage on June 24th (if you count The Script, that's two announced 2011 Rumsey Playfield shows in total so far). Tickets go on AmEx presale Wednesday at noon and general sale Friday.

The NYC show comes during a run of summer shows that include other headlining performances and some gigs with U2 as part of their 360 Tour. All dates are listed below.

In the meantime, you can catch Florence Welch on the Oscars in a couple of weeks. She'll perform "If I Rise" from the 127 Hours soundtrack with composer AR Rahman . Video of last night's Grammys performance is below.

Speaking of U2 (who's Spiderman Broadway musical is getting hammered right now), tickets are still available for their show at the Meadowlands on Jul 20th with Interpol who also open a bunch other dates on the rescheduled tour.

Interpol are now on tour with School of Seven Bells and will play their headlining show at Radio City Music Hall this week (on 2/17). Tickets are still available. In March they head to Europe with Matthew Dear before returning to tour even more leading up to their run with U2. All dates for everyone and a video from the Grammys below...

This morning GILT CITY NYC (part of Gilt Groupe) was selling presale tickets on their site for $75, even though they are only $35 face-value. And the tickets sold out. Someone send some hate-mail.

Okay, I'm just gonna say it - am I the only one who thinks Florence and the machine is seriously a dude?

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 3:40 PM

In celebration of the success of the "do you like my seven and a half inches? do you like my seven and a half inches?" comment meme, we're doing a formal study of sizes here of all male BV commentators. Feel free to submit yours or your loved ones below.

nice picture, she look sexy.

Posted by Linda | February 14, 2011 3:42 PM

School of Seven Bells are opening for Interpol in Austin

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 3:50 PM

In regards to both 3:40 and 3:40s comments, I'm willing to guess Florence is sporting a nine incher down there.

"Jennifer Hudson can sing, even if she does look like a completely different person."

leaving your mom and family to die in the ghetto does slim you down.

Maybe JHud's been working out with that rassler boyfriend of her's and shedding some weight the natural way.

liking the new seat map for ticketmaster @ RCMH. though still not going to see them. can't top the MHOW show last year.

Mumford and his sons > Florence and her machines

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 4:28 PM

i really hate florence AND mumford. both terrible imports. we'll take radiohead and that's it thank you very much. Keep that XX bullshit on your shores.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 4:29 PM

This girl is only like 25 but she looks about 45. Gross.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 4:41 PM

What about Portishead, 4:29?

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 5:07 PM

I have no confirmation and no inside knowledge but, for some reason, I get the feeling Mumford & Sons will play a Summerstage show (or Radio City). They'll use the Bowery Presents and that will be the only logical place to put them.

On another note, could The Black Keys play MSG with some decent support?

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 5:28 PM

Mr. Black and his Keys cannot play MSG. the Hummus Bowl, however, may be at capacity for a concert of theirs.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 5:51 PM

4:41 the reason she looks much older than 24 is because... she is.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 9:05 PM

Hey, 9:05, she is 24. You are stupid.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 9:32 PM

say what u want about xtina, she's still pretty hot to me, and u know she's a filthy pig in bed from her image a decade ago. nice big fake tits too. id come all over her, and so would the dude puttin her down in the quote.

"summer" doesnt work :(

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 10:23 AM

Is summer working for anyone else?

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 10:24 AM

C'mon people- what's the password?!

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 12:01 PM

WTF is going on with tickets these days? That "summer" password didn't work (thanks Bowery!) GiltCity is selling tickets for $75?! And tomorrow the tix will be sold out 2 seconds BEFORE they go on sale. Same sh*t as LCD and Adele. If you're keeping score this week: Bowery Presents/Ticketmaster/Stub Hub - 3, Fans - 0.

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 12:06 PM

summer worked, it was for the "promoter presale" which didn't appear until like 20 minutes past 10:00 or so, I was able to get anyone else?

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 2:29 PM

Seriously wtf is going on with ticket sales these days. It's extremely unfair that fans aren't able to pay face to see the bands they like.

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 10:39 PM

Thanks Bowery / Ticketmaster for updating your page late....so people who gave up after 20 min aren't able to get tickets.

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 10:41 PM

no tickets avail for public release.

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2011 12:06 PM

There's 500 of them on Sub Hub. Some fans huh?

Posted by Anonymous | February 18, 2011 1:04 PM
