GWAR

I don't know how Lady Gaga is going to make it to her shows with Scissor Sisters at Madison Square Garden tonight (2/21) and tomorrow (2/22) - not because of the snow, but because I watched Gwar kill her with my own eyes at Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn last night (2/20).

More pictures from the Gwar show coming, but in the meantime more from the Lady Gaga skit (NSFW?) (and videos from past shows where they did the same thing), below...

this is such a cheap post, headline should read 'Gwar (and Lady Gaga)'

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 11:11 AM

I like that they killed Lady Gaga. However, I really did not like the jokes they made about Lara Logan. I understand Gwar is supposed to be "shocking" and all that stuff. The Logan comments were really just stupid and sort of bummed me out. I think they should apologize and admit it was stupid.
Aside from that, I love everything else about them.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 11:12 AM

I agree. The rape jokes were really, really offensive.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 11:17 AM

Lady gaga is really really offensive

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 11:22 AM

what jokes did they make about lara logan? that's definitely crossing the line...

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 11:40 AM

Eeeek! Gaga is really looking horrible!

Posted by Josh | February 21, 2011 11:44 AM

LADY MANSON !

Posted by Kazukovox | February 21, 2011 11:51 AM

This whole thing looks pretty stupid.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 11:53 AM

so.....was it actually lady gaga?

it seems like if they've done this in the past it was probably just an actor. kind of a misleading post.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 11:56 AM

Ive lost all respect for Gwar and their absurdity due to Oderus and his propagation of Fox News.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 11:58 AM

GWAR are supposed to be offensive and to cross lines. nevertheless, it was just not funny as 11:12 had perfectly put it.
i would've been impressed if any of the kids, especially the females ones, in that huge moshing pit would've called them on that.

Posted by me | February 21, 2011 12:04 PM

How do I not get a blurb?! Come on

Posted by Jay Porks | February 21, 2011 12:07 PM

I lost all respect for gear when they stoppedshootinghummus into the crowd.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 12:23 PM

I was GWAR in Williamsburg, of all places. Should've been more than just Fake LG there getting the purge.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 12:27 PM

Where is Marilyn these days? Isn't it comeback time?

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 12:36 PM

Wow, you guys are all missing the fucking point of a Gwar show. As for Oderus going on Red Eye at 3am to exchange jokes with liberals and libertarians I think it's fantastic. Stewart and Colbert have run their schtick into the ground.

Posted by Brett | February 21, 2011 1:49 PM

@12:04

Do you really think GWAR gives a fuck about fans, male or female "calling them out?!"

They have been an ulta-offensive band for 25 years. They do not give a shit about offending anyone.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 2:48 PM

Brett, I lean more towards the left but I have to agree with you. Especially on the last part.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 2:57 PM

"Wow, you guys are all missing the fucking point of a Gwar show"

I made the comment @ 11:12am. Since I first started going to Gwar shows in 1990, I do believe I have a good idea of the "point" of a Gwar show. I'm not easily offended... however, the Logan jokes pressed my buttons. After seeing Gwar for over 20 years... this was the first time. I don't need you to tell me I "don't get it".

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 3:10 PM

anyone want to actually say what the lara logan 'joke' was?

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 3:13 PM

From an idiot blogger named Jay Porks:

"It was even entertaining when the music wasn't playing and they were cracking jokes about Lara Logan, the CBS reporter that from what I'm told was slightly fondled during the celebrations in Egypt(for anyone else it would be “too soon”, but not GWAR because they'll destroy you)."

Yeah, she was slightly fondled...

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 3:15 PM

Actually Oderus didn't say fondled he said Lara was fucked by hundreds of Egyptians and that he thought Lara needed a new vagina.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 3:20 PM

oh and then oderus went into a tirade about how america goes and bombs nagasaki, hiroshima, iraq, kaboomistan, etc.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 3:33 PM

Leave it to a blog with commenters like these to bitch about PC shit at a GWAR (!) show.

Thus, reinforcing the comment at 12:27.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 3:40 PM

there is a BIG difference between "politically incorrect" and STUPID! If you don't get that that there is no point in having a discussion with you. Because you are STUPID.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 3:44 PM

@340 it's not as much about being PC as being completely messed up. you don't joke about someone who was just gang-raped in front of a crowd of people in a terrible tragedy. there is a difference between 'politically incorrect' and 'f-ed up beyond feelings'

example - your nonexistent wife/girlfriend was just raped. gwar goes onstage, having just read about it in the local news, and laughs about her - by name - talking about how she got it from a bunch of strangers and needs a new vagina. can you see the difference between saying something like this, and killing a fake lady gaga?

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 3:45 PM

that's fucked up... i mean, desecrate lady gaga, show a gigantic wolf fucking her, spray her with a bottle of fake semen, but joking about a reporter who was recently raped in egypt... sorry, that's not funny.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 4:07 PM

^----- yes, exactly

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 4:08 PM

This is GWAR we're talking about. Their whole act is breaking the limits of good taste. The fact that they provoke these types of reactions is what they aim for, regardless of degree. Sort of like GG Allin except there isn't any REAL violence taking place at that moment.

Enlighten me once you wipe the foam from your mouth, 3:44.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 4:09 PM

dude if you can't see how joking about rape is crossing the line then there's something wrong with you

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 4:12 PM

like I said... I'm not easily offended. But poking fun at a rape victim is not something that I can support. If you can, you have a right to, I just wouldn't have anything to do with it.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 4:13 PM

Are any of you George Carlin fans? Remember what he said about joking about rape?

Devil's Advocate, if you will.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 4:20 PM

i am a carlin fan but i don't remember him joking about rape, enlighten me

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 4:21 PM

"that's fucked up... i mean, desecrate lady gaga, show a gigantic wolf fucking her, spray her with a bottle of fake semen, but joking about a reporter who was recently raped in egypt... sorry, that's not funny"

If Lady Gaga had actually been raped by a gigantic wolf, then this would not be ok. Otherwise, I'm fine with it.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 4:24 PM

I'm done with Gwar

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 4:26 PM

GWAR was done with you long ago!

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 4:27 PM

Carlin joked abstractly about rape in his "rape can be funny" skit, but it was in no way talking about specific, recent, real-life instances of rape. GWAR, on the other hand, laughed about someone who had been gang-raped days earlier.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 4:28 PM

I can't believe people are defending GWAR on here. Their reaction to a recent rape was that it was worth laughing over, and that the rape victim probably "needs a new vagina."

That's the kind of thing a rapist would say about a rape. It's wrong, and displays a lack of human emotional connection that borders on the sociopathy.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 4:32 PM

GWAR loves that you people are bellyaching about this. They do not care about right and wrong.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 4:40 PM

This discussion is pointless.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 4:42 PM

It really IS pointless. Nobody is going to budge on their opinion anyway.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 4:51 PM

If a rapper did a bit about Lara Logan, it would sell five million downloads in the first week.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 5:08 PM

Black rapper 'says' "gun" = Congressional Hearing!

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 5:33 PM

If it was funny then it might be okay. But GWAR is simply stupid, not funny.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 7:07 PM

Wow, you folks don't get it. GWAR has always been tasteless and offensive. They wrote a song about raping a baby, "BDF (Baby Dick Fuck)," and one about lost kids on milk cartons, "Have You Seen Me." They even got dropped from Metal Blade, distributed by Time Warner at some point I believe, for "BDF."

They do not give a shit. They are offensive and over-the-top. Always have been. Always will be. They are not a cartoon joke band like Green Jelly. They are an offensive, somewhat underground (although less so than years ago) heavy metal band. This is what they do. If you don't want to be offended, don't go to a GWAR show.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 7:23 PM

no YOU don't get it. i honestly don't care if they joke about raping my own grandmother, i could find humor in that. it's when they joke about an ACTUAL incident (a vicious rape) that very recently took place is when they're crossing the line. open your eyes.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 8:28 PM

There is a certain place in our culture for exactly this type of 'entertainment,' regardless of how offensive it is to some people. GWAR seems to fit that niche. I guess it's a sad truth.

It's ridiculous that anyone would say they've gone too far. One should expect that from this band. DON'T GO SEE THEM if you don't want to be offended. They aren't hurting anyone. With ultimate freedom of speech, nothing is taboo.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 9:07 PM

GWAR used to be funny, creative, somewhat clever, different, inventive and interesting. Nowadays they are repetitive, stupid and glaringly un-clever. They basically do the same thing over and over again although with slightly updated characters. Their stage show is also much more cheap and low rent than it used to be. They used to put way more effort into their stage show, props, etc, now they just coast on the music (which isn't really the point of the act), and bare bones character puppets. Their audience has also deteriorated to lowest common denominator adolescent imbeciles. An audience full of Bevis and Buttheads. The joke has become a reality.

Anyone can be offensive. It's really easy. The hard part is to be offensive and funny and clever. Oderous is not funny or clever, he's just basic offensive.

How difficult is it to just take a victim of a current event and say something obnoxious about it? Pretty easy. That's why Gwar will not go beyond what they keep doing over and over, because the things that come out of his mouth aren't smart. They will continue to attract the new crop of idiot kids who thing being offensive for the sake of it is cool, and they will be at the same level forever, trying desperately to capture anyone's attention by saying something obnoxious to a crowd that's as stupid as they are.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 9:31 PM

The comment he made about John Lennon at the Best Buy theater was offensive also.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 9:33 PM

7:23 and 9:07 are right on.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 10:02 PM

@ 8:28

You STILL don't get it. GWAR has "crossed the line" from day one of their existence as a band! That's what they WANT to do: be offensive and cross that line. They are trying to be as offensive as possible. There is NO line they won't cross!

I am not saying I find humor in everything they do or say and agree they are offensive, but this discussion is just preposterous. They are supposed to cross the line, they are GWAR!

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 10:50 PM

rape is HILARIOUS. duh!

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 11:01 PM

Don't worry about it 10:50, you're good.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 11:25 PM

really, it's only offensive if the people that would be offended hear it.

GWAR are so under the radar of mass popular entertainment, that nobody outside of their small adolescent messed up fanbase is even paying attention to them, so when they say ridiculous and offensive stuff about larger mainstream topics and events, nobody outside of their audience hears it, so it basically is a non issue.

It's a perfect example of "if a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it does it make a sound?"

If Gwar says something offensive about a well known worldwide person/event/crime, and no one outside of the Music Hall of Williamsburg and this blog hears it, then does it even matter that it was offensive?

I think not.

Posted by Anonymous | February 21, 2011 11:41 PM

Alright! I noticed up there someone read my blog. Awesome

Posted by Jay Porks | February 22, 2011 9:59 PM

you people are dumb. gwar isn't for hipsters pretending offensive shit is cool until it crosses a line. gwar is for losers who have been shit on enough times that they honestly don't care when some drop dead sexy news reporter gets raped when she tries to cover a full scale riot in a third world middle eastern nation. on top of that she wasn't even actually raped, she was stripped naked and beaten with poles, which is kind of hilarious. us white folk had absolutely no business trying to exploit the revolution in cairo for television ratings. get your facts right before you start whining about something you don't understand. and if you really have been going to see gwar for 20 years and are just now getting offended, maybe you shouldn't have gone to rehab.

Posted by blahblahblah | February 23, 2011 4:28 PM

What little hope I had for the BV angry crowd is now gone.
Many folks here I hope never to encounter in real life. Ya'll are scary as hell.
Most people have a thread of decency in them but BV appears to draw a large crowd of people who are not just negative but subhuman...really! (not all but some)
If you can justify a harsh verbal assualt by way of minimizing the event.."she was only stripped naked", you need to check yourself.
Oh, I forgot..you just don't care.

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2011 9:01 PM

Rape is the commission of unlawful sexual intercourse or unlawful sexual intrusion.

CAN YOU CONTINUE TO WASTE YOUR TIME ON SEMANTICS??????

LARA WAS RAPED OR IF THAT WORD IS THE SOURCE OF JUSITFYING WHAT GWAR SAID, SHE WAS INVOLVED IN A CASE OF UNLAWFUL SEXUAL INTRUSION (UNIVITED/UNWELCOME PHYSICAL CONTACT)

WTF IS THE DIFFERENCE...GWAR CROSSED THE DAMN LINE. STOP DEFENDING THEM, IT IS DISGUSTING. ALMOST AS DISGUSTING AS GWAR THEMSELVES

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2011 9:12 PM

Who cares? Old news.

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2011 9:24 PM

Oh yes...the age of instant and distant attention span.

Old news is right

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2011 9:59 PM

not defending gwar, just telling it like it is. invoking the use of semantics solely to piss people off who take messageboards seriously. the point remains, who the fuck in their right mind would go to a nation where they are resented to exploit a riot for tv ratings. when you can justify that, i'll justify my comments.

Posted by blahblahblah | February 23, 2011 10:13 PM

10:13

who do you think you are? You think you know or can even logically assume that woman went there with an intent to exploit for ratings? This assumption is based on...?

My God, she is a journalist. A professional doing her job.

Would it matter of she were a service person sent by the US Army to support the cause?

You're lack of intelligent discourse is underwhelming. You are right...you should not be taken seriously.

didn't mean to come off as such. just sick of the western news outlets sending people into unstable regions for dollars. my bad.
