Ugh, MSG? Going to be miserable seeing them in such a huge place.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 11:05 AM

I was there!

...so I don't need to be at MSG...

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 11:11 AM

I would love to see Liquid Liquid. Hopefully they will do more dates.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 11:14 AM

LCD Soundsystem will be playing their own aftershow.

Posted by Cap'n Tripps | February 5, 2011 11:14 AM

That MHOW show last year was epic. So wish I didn't sully the experience by dealing with the bullshit that was Terminal 5. I think I'll pass on this....

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 11:21 AM

don't pass on this

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 11:23 AM

Special guests: The Rapture and The Faint

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 11:27 AM

mhow was incredible

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 11:30 AM

@11:11...you were where? dumb fuck.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 11:31 AM

This will be a shit show of course and you all should stick it to the dicks at Bowery Presents by not buying tickets

That being said, good for James and crew to go out with a money grab show like this(although i do not believe for a second that LCD is done)

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 11:34 AM

"I was there" is a reference to their first single, you dumb fuck.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 11:39 AM

ugh

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 11:39 AM

tixxxx?

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 11:40 AM

Maybe I should go just to get the bad taste of the Terminal 5 show out of my mouth

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 11:41 AM

MSG is going to sound great.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 11:42 AM

YESSSSSSSSSSS

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 11:43 AM

"MSG is going to sound great."

Said the

-clueless person

-Bowery Presents employee

Take your pick

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 11:46 AM

happy for Liquid Liquid.. Don't know if it was on their list of what they wanted in their career (to play at MSG).. but it is certainly an ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of what they have provided to all those that love and have been influenced by their sound. I'll be there..

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 11:48 AM

Damn it! It's the same
night of
cut copy!

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 11:48 AM

this show will cost like $60

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 11:52 AM

tix will go on sale two minutes after the msg/ticketmaster employees "buy" all of the lower seats

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 11:53 AM

Yea...

LCD at seated venue.....

no fun!

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 11:54 AM

MSG Has great sound for an arena. People who immediately jump in and say it sucks has either never seen a show there or is a complete fucking idiot who immediately equates "large venue" with "bad sound".

I've seen Radiohead, Coldplay, Bjork, Roger Waters, and a zillion other shows there and they ALL sounded great.

And no, I don't work there.

Whommus?

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 11:56 AM

Ach, I will be out of the country, CRAP!

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 11:57 AM

Gonna be like, really good.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 12:08 PM

most overrated of all the overrated bands that are overrated on this site (not overrated despite all the overrating).

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 12:11 PM

i trust LCD soundsystem to rise to whatever venue they play. especially if this is they're last show, i expect James Murphy has a plan to transcend the apparent drawbacks of that massive place.
i wonder how well the tickets will sell though.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 12:12 PM

Why couldn't this be on April 1st????

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 12:22 PM

i honestly think this will sell out. they sold out what, five (four?) nights at the horrendous t5, then wellmont - that's got to be close to 20,000 tickets.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 12:24 PM

^ cause god hates you.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 12:26 PM

this will sell out in a matter of days if not hours.

haters go back to the wavves post and worry bout mumford and sons

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 12:30 PM

they should move this to t5

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 12:32 PM

This will not sell out at all. Yeah, they sold out a bunch of nights at T5, but I know people who went to multiple nights. This will definitely be undersold.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 12:36 PM

MSG is a great venue, if you can hold it down there and put on a strong show it can be very special. No reasons to hate on it, I think people just say that because it's big, but I'd rather see a band kill it at MSG than at Terminal 5. It's the world's most famous arena!

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 12:41 PM

1) If Daft Punk hasn't even played MSG yet (no that Phoenix show doesn't count), how do you think LCD can sell out this place?
2) Will it be seats and GA on the floor?
3) I can already see people complaining they got crappy seats through Ticketmaster
4) They should have waited to have this outside GA venue...Randall's Island, Summerstage, Prospect Park, and etc.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 12:42 PM

Laughable and clueless statement at best. Dude you are the idiot. MSG is a large vacuous cavern. Ask sound engineers what they think it dummy. But please enjoy sitting in the rafters, watching the band on video screens and the next day saying they "killed" it

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 12:43 PM

For the love of God don't make Tickets too expensive. $25-45 is reasonable.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 12:43 PM

12:36: People were saying that about Arcade Fire, yet they pretty much filled MSG TWO nights...doubt LCD will do two nights but they can sell out one at MSG.

Posted by still sad I'm missing it | February 5, 2011 12:44 PM

whatttt..NOOOOOO...

when do tix go on sale?

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 12:44 PM

How long do you think it will be until tickets go on sale? Must be soon, I'm thinking.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 12:45 PM

Happy Birthday James! No seriously today is his birthday....

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 12:45 PM

"12:36: People were saying that about Arcade Fire, yet they pretty much filled MSG TWO nights...doubt LCD will do two nights but they can sell out one at MSG."

Arcade Fire are way bigger than LCD Soundsystem.

Another clueless statement. Hilarious. It is a terrible place to see a show but you know these people saying it is great don't care about sound. The same types of people who go to coachella and stand miles back from the stage and say how amazing it was.

Fortunately i saw both the Music Hall and Angel Orensantz shows on this tour. Those were the special shows but yeah I am sure MSG will sound so much better HAHAHAHA

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 12:48 PM

"It is a terrible place to see a show but you know these people saying it is great don't care about sound. The same types of people who go to coachella and stand miles back from the stage and say how amazing it was."

This show will sell out because of these types of people. It is the same reason Terminal Shithouse stays open.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 12:52 PM

What's sad about this show is 90% of people who will attend this show knows nothing about Liquid Liquid

Liquid Liquid > LCD

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 12:52 PM

Are you people out of your fucking minds?!?!? This is going to be EPIC.

Jesus. What's wrong with you people??

This show will sell out because of these types of people. It is the same reason Terminal Shithouse stays open.

Shut up Dude 12:57pm...

1) You're probably some hipster
2) You live in Hipsterville
3) Your parents pay for everything
4) Go back to Iowa or Ohio or wherever you came from

5) LCD was fun before you fuckers started listening to them.....

yes fun fun shows at Studio B, Bowery Ballroom, and etc.

P.S. You probably think Terminal 5 is a great venue cause wherever you came from, bands only play in shitty bars hahahah

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 1:03 PM

Seeing them open for Arcade Fire at Randall's Island was a lot of fun. If they just make it all GA it would be fun, probably, but I still won't be going.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 1:08 PM

saw them at mhow and angel orensanz too; both were great shows, with mhow being one of the best shows of last year.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 1:11 PM

its only worth going if your on the floor. If your in a seat it's gonna suck. LCD were one of the best live shows in 07 opening for Arcade Fire, back when they were good. And they were great at Terminal 5 despite how bad the venue is. I'm sure this will be a a very fun night.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 1:14 PM

This is one ballsy-ass way to go out

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 1:16 PM

This won't have a problem selling out, likely quickly. A lot of people will travel for this.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 1:24 PM

Sound at a show is very important to me, like it really should be for everyone. We're talking about music here. I avoid shows at Terminal 5 and Roseland. I agree that if you have bad seats, sound at MSG can get pretty bad, but if you get a seat not too far from the stage, it is usually great. If you care about sound, as a rule of thumb, go to arena shows only if you can get close to the stage. Calling MSG's sound system bad because you are in the nosebleeds or the opposite side of the arena is just stupid. If you are happy only seeing bands in their early stages and bands who don't make it to bigger venues than Rock Shop for the rest of your life, then good for you.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 1:31 PM

@11:56 is right. MSG is great sounding large arena.

News flash kiddies...MSG is mecca as far as large venues goes....a career defining concert event for most bands. LCD, like others before them will be bringing it hot for MSG and the big crowd. Big crowd = big energy. Believe it or not, that is not the same case as MHOW or whatever other tiny rooms you all fetish. Be happy for the band going out on top.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 1:36 PM

YAWN

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 1:38 PM

at 1:03pm - you sound like an asshole. sorry, had to say it. I am on the fence about this show. I am sure it will be fun for the ones who go but to sit on a website and bitch about the old days type of shit. My Lord, shut up. You were the first LCD fan. ever. Shut it.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 1:43 PM

LET'S GET SOME SPECIAL GUESTS WUT WUT

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 1:53 PM

1:03 is the type of person that makes me ashamed of being from the tri-state area.

Anyone know when tickets go on sale?

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 1:55 PM

No you fuckin hipsters...its truly you that are fuckin putting me ashame to be in NY area...go away

and thank your Pitchfork fags

LCD Soundsystem have announced that they will play their final show on Saturday, April 2, at New York City's Madison Square Garden. LCD frontman James Murphy had promised before the release of their 2010 album This Is Happening that it would serve as their victory lap, and indeed it has. They'll go out with a bang, however: A marathon hometown set in which "for just one more night, we will be playing with friends and family for nearly 3 hours-- playing stuff we've never played before." Famed underground dance group Liquid Liquid will open the show.

The group has also requested that everyone who attends wear white, black, or black and white. General onsale tickets will begin Friday, February 11. Check back here at Pitchfork for further news about what should prove to be an extraordinary end to an extraordinary band.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 1:59 PM

This site used to be fun before hipsters invaded this site with dumbass Daft Punk comments, hummus comments and etc....

Damn I really really hate hipsters!

Go away

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 2:02 PM

Big fan, but no interest in MSG. When I was a teen back in the mid-1990s, I saw the Nine Inch Nails' Downward Spiral tour there and loved it. But seeing shows at MSG doesn't really interest/satisfy me anymore. That being said I hope LCD "kills it" for those that go.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 2:04 PM

Oh god you guys I don't know about this...

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 2:07 PM

I hope some hipster takes E and I hope LCD posts a video about it like this one...

skip to about 2:10....hilarious

I don't really see the issue with a band wanting to play to the largest audience possible in thier last show ever. I mean, sorry it cant't be super exclusive at Bowery Ballroom, where only people who paid 300 a ticket on craigslist can go. I for one will not miss one last chance to see a great live band, before they break up. And yes, I saw them at MHOW and it was great, I saw them at Randall's Island and it was great, and I saw them at Studio B and it was one of the best shows I ever saw.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 2:37 PM

@1:03

Wow. You really got him.

Dork.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 2:37 PM

I wouldn't normally attend a show at MSG, but I know that Murphy & Co are going to pull out all the stops for this one. I'm expecting that a shitload of bands on the DFA roster will be special guests.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 2:47 PM

1:03 speaks the truth. Thank you.

No what will hipsters listen to next.....

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 3:03 PM

Hipsters leaving ironic posts about hating fucking hipsters. Priceless end of an era.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 3:18 PM

Special guests are Mumford and Sons.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 3:20 PM

If you're going to anonymously flame someone on a music blog, do yourself a favor and don't sound like a complete idiot while doing it

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 3:28 PM

What time does Daft Punk go on?

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 3:29 PM

Wow. Hopefully lots of guests will be there, too. Maybe they'll even add Hot Chip to the bill? This is huge, but will be great. Good for them...who doesn't want to play MSG?? Wonder if there will be big GA floor section...

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 3:32 PM

"Maybe" they'll add Hot Chip? I'd be shocked if they weren't there as an opener.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 3:36 PM

Gonna be a fucking party, people. Party poopers: Stay home.

Posted by J | February 5, 2011 3:38 PM

Dear 1:03 - anyone still referring to people as hipsters is way fucking behind. get over it - this was an issue years ago and people should learn to cope.

if you have such an issue with it, and would like to get away from it all, i can offer you a pleasant retreat back at my old room in my parents' house in Ohio.

while there, you can relax from your 'real world' troubles and tell the locals all the things they can't wrap their heads around because they weren't privileged enough to have been born in Great Neck or Westchester, where truth and substance prevail.

dick.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 3:46 PM

Ok, last show on 4/2. But what about the whole month of March? Any possibility of west coast leading up to this?

Posted by Old Bro | February 5, 2011 4:10 PM

all you MSG haters are clueless.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 4:19 PM

If Mumford and Sons aren't going to be there....I ain't goin'!

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 5:07 PM

AS long as it's general admission and Free Energy isn't there, I'm IN.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 5:16 PM

@3:38pm - amen! i'm sure i will get hammered here for saying this but i really don't care - saw Linkin Park last night at MSG and had a great time - such whinners on this board

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 5:29 PM

More importantly, will Liquid Liquid play more shows after this?

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 5:49 PM

What's a whinner? Is that like a whining winner?

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 5:50 PM

all from 3 bored people.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 6:12 PM

"News flash kiddies...MSG is mecca as far as large venues goes....a career defining concert event for most bands.

Love the MSG praisers. Priceless idiots. Hey moron above, MSG being a mecca and career defining event for a band has nothing to do with sound. It is not cause it sounds so great in there that every band wants to play.
And yes that includes upfront as well.

MSG is the McDonalds of concert venues with Terminal 5 being Dennys. If you enjoy that kind of spectacle good for you. Have fun. Some of us are more discerning concert goers.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 6:44 PM

Oh and as for that big crowd/bigger energy nonsense.

Let me give one example to debunk that stupidity

Have seen Pearl Jam a number of times at MSG and have been right up front. Not one of those shows came even remotely close to the power, energy and sound of the Irving Plaza fan club show a few years ago.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 6:50 PM

Wait, will this be Mumford and Sons last show, too? PLEASE GOD NO!!!

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 7:05 PM

"MSG is the McDonalds of concert venues"

haha this is priceless. you should be a comedian

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 9:07 PM

Of course big venues are not the ideal space to see a band. Not every band could play the Bowery Ballroom. That said, the sound is not so band at MSG. Easily better than T5. Of course, don't get bad seat. I don't bother with MSG unless I get floor or 100 level.

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 10:06 PM

Posted by Anonymous | February 5, 2011 11:24 PM

I'm not going to defend MSG or bash Terminal 5 or suck MHOW's dick or whatever else nonsense goes on on this board.....but I'm going to this show. I don't care if you're not. I don't care if you think I'm a "priceless idiot" or don't "tr00ly" appreciate concert sound, or am automatically from New Jersey or Ohio if I can appreciate a show at MSG.

I'm sure you'll have more fun watching TV at home. I will be at MSG watching LCD Soundsystem play for 3 hours and end their career with the biggest bang imaginable.

Fuck the lot of you.

arenas arent great for shows of course, but MSG is the best ur gonna get in this area for sound AND sightlines. dont knock it till u try and watch Tool at Izod Center lol

reckless special guest speculation:

"new york, i love you.." with the "empire state of mind" section at the end fully blown out and jay-z/alicia keys come out to do the entire song.

The predictability of some of these comments makes it not as depressing as it probably should be. Let the naysayers wallow in their crap attitude cynicism. Who needs more lame shitheads at NYC shows? Stay the fuck home admiring your bullshit self-importance and enjoy looking down at people having fun. Fuck you and all your fucking bullshit. Because before you know it you'll be an old dried up ol' fuckhead like some old bowery punk clamoring for the bad ol days.

12:42, high five!

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2011 4:24 PM

8:27am is apparently the "clueless" one. James Murphy has pretty much said everything 3:51 wrote in interviews this year.

He's a smart guy, smart enough to realize that he can just OWN a label and let the bands on his label do the touring and make money for him. If he wants to put something out then great, but he doesn't need to go out and support it anymore, nor will he need "reunion" shows to make money in the future.

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2011 4:43 PM

come on, he's totally going to play another show or two in about 10 years

Posted by Anonymous | February 7, 2011 4:51 PM

Everyone chill, James Murphy is brilliant, this show will be amazing no matter were it's at. I can't wait to go and if The Rapture is going to be there that makes it so much better. New York I Love You!!!!!
