Kylesa

The Metalliance tour featuring Helmet (playing all of Meantime), Saint Vitus, Crowbar, Red Fang, Howl & The Atlas Moth has expanded, adding dates on the west coast and adding the great Kylesa to the bill as well. All dates are now on sale including tickets to March 25th at Irving Plaza.

Crowbar's killer new LP Sever The Wicked Hand is out now via E1. Order a copy, it's definitely highly recommended and could be Windstein's best work yet.

Saint Vitus's Wino just completed a solo tour with Scott Kelly. Maybe you caught them Saturday night at Mercury Lounge.

Who even listens to metal anymore. Ever since Mastodon sold out, Pelican went boring and Isis broke up, the hipsters don't care enough to try to sound edgy.

@ anon 10:50 - obviously you are a fucking moron.

Meantime is one of my favorite albums ever.

"VIP TICKETS SOLD OUT"

Why would anyone attend a metal show and sit in the balcony?

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2011 11:20 AM

Seven bands? Are they playing 20 minute sets? Sounds like a clusterfuck.

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2011 11:26 AM

10:50, you're so right, maybe you should stop reading the metal posts. Bye.

Totally off topic but the last time I saw Helmet , there was this amazingly annoying couple who were not only talking during the whole show but were talking about TMI info. The guy kept asking her "Do you like my seven and a half inches? Do you like my seven and a half inches? Is it the biggest you've ever had?" Yeah bro you're cool

VIP tickets aren't in the balcony. They include a preshow meet and greet and a bunch of other crap you have to carry around all night.

Joliet and not Chicago? I love it.

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2011 1:31 PM

Based on the SXSW schedule it looks like they're all 30 min. - 45 min. sets. Anyhow, looks pretty awesome.

BEYOND psyched for this. The MIGHTY Saint Vitus! \m/

Gahwd dayng. Between the Motorhead/Clutch/Valiant Thorr gig and this? Two EXTREMELY AMAZING and IMPORTANT bills like this? And a month apart? Usually it's years apart to get a gig half this good, let alone two of 'em.

"Who even listens to metal anymore. Ever since Mastodon sold out, Pelican went boring and Isis broke up, the hipsters don't care enough to try to sound edgy."

I'm sure many people still listen to metal (maybe somewhat less these days). I agree with you on the status of the 3 bands you mentioned though.

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 12:18 PM

I would've just preferred the lineup with the way it started: Helmet, Crowbar, Saint Vitus.

Although Kylesa is a nice add, so maybe just those 4 would suffice.

"Ever since Mastodon sold out, Pelican went boring and Isis"

You just mentioned the most boring librarian metal out there. Who still listens to metal? People who actually like it.

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 7:58 PM

^ How about some examples. Something that's not boring librarian.
