Totally off topic but the last time I saw the My Morning Jacket , there was this amazingly annoying couple who were not only talking during the whole show but were talking about TMI info. The guy kept asking her "Do you like my seven and a half inches? Do you like my seven and a half inches? Is it the biggest you've ever had?" Yeah bro you're cool

has anyone entered this and heard back yet?
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 11:40 AM
Props for @ 11:38 for continuing this trend. Oh wait.

Thanks for lessening my chances of being picked BV. I guess I'll forgive you for providing me many opportunities to get tix for secret shows in the past.
Posted by Venkman | February 17, 2011 11:42 AM
hahaha I thought the same think first Venkman, but BV has hooked me up multiple times for other shows in the past so I can't be too pissed.
At least this is somewhat based on y our personal answers (mine were awesome)
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 11:46 AM
BV ruins everything! Then again the comment board always makes me want to kill myself
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 11:47 AM
i wonder what people replied with. on a scale of 1-4, 4 being the best, mine were in the 3.333333 range, i'd say. we'll see!

I've heard of musicians recently taping episodes of Storytellers, but has anyone actually seen one of these things make it on air in between VH1's endless list shows and Celebrity Bootcamps?
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 12:13 PM
Footnote: this season also will feature Storyteller episodes from Death Cab for Cutie and Cee-Lo Green.

Hate to say it, but this isn't like a creative writing contest. I would guess getting a good mix of ages and genders plays as big a role, if not bigger, than the questions. They're there to make sure you know your stuff, but I doubt they care much about a "good" answer versus a "great" answer.
Posted by Paul | February 17, 2011 12:44 PM
i'd be pissed if i didnt already have 2 tix!
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 1:01 PM
tix $10,000 on Stubhub
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 1:07 PM
emails are going out already letting you know if you are in or not
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 1:22 PM
James Murphy didn't get in
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 1:55 PM
Sent in mine yesterday, going to be pissed if I don't get in.
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 1:58 PM
are they notifying rejections, too?
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 2:09 PM
They would not waste their time sending rejection emails.
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 2:52 PM
they already have...
"Thank you for your submission for tickets to this very exclusive taping of VH1 Presents Storytellers: My Morning Jacket! Unfortunately, we have decided that you are not the type of fan we are looking for. Please be sure to watch the performance, air date TBD. Thanks again!"
Oh well...
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 3:02 PM
^
for real? "you are not the type of fan we are looking for"?? ouch.
"your entry was not chosen" or some shit would have sufficed. then again, you might be lying.
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 3:22 PM
it's real, i got the same one. pretty harsh to be honest, and makes me a little angry
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 3:31 PM
That sounds like BS to me...If rejection letters were being sent, especially worded like THAT, there would be WAY more of an uproar. One or two people on a blog saying it(and pretty casually, at that) does not make any sense. I'm holding out for a confirmation email.
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 4:07 PM
i really hope i get chosen. i'm kinda awesome.
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 4:15 PM
i'm afraid it's true...

Ugh,does anyone remember the horrible Jim James/Eddie Vedder collaberation?

Haven't gotten a confirmation OR rejection email. The rejection thing can't be for real. It doesn't make sense.
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 4:32 PM
i'm either in a "maybe" holding pattern right now, or they just haven't gotten around to rejecting me yet :(
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 4:32 PM
The rejection thing is for real. MMJ message boards confirming this too.
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 4:36 PM
it's confirmed... vh1 are kinda mean:

if it's true, i bet they had some intern write up and send the rejection emails.
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 4:49 PM
did an intern come up with that? "you are not the type of fan we are looking for?" incredible.
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 4:49 PM
That's one of the douchiest rejection emails I've ever read. So many nicer ways they could have put that.
With that said, I haven't gotten confirmed or denied yet. Still hoping to get into this.
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 4:54 PM
"Unfortunately, we have decided that you are not the type of fan we are looking for."
i guess i'm not cool enough, just got this too.
VH1 = the epitome of cool (not)

WOW, you guys got polite letters, mine said:
Dear Boris,
You are far too old at 29 your questions for the band were too idiotic for this type of taping. We would, however, like you to audition for our upcoming celeb-reality show, "I Love Feltching."
Go Fuck Yourself,
GC
Posted by Boris | February 17, 2011 5:16 PM
If I submitted and didn't get a rejection yet, what does that mean?
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 5:22 PM
5:22, it means you didn't get a rejection yet.
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 5:23 PM
Hey, I work for Viamcom/VH1. Unfortunately, the producers of the show have to have a strict screening policy for these shows. Apparently at the Christina Aguilera taping there was this amazingly annoying couple who were not only talking during the whole show but were talking about TMI info. The guy kept asking her "Do you like my seven and a half inches? Do you like my seven and a half inches? Is it the biggest you've ever had?" Yeah bro you're cool
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 5:27 PM
Holy shit, that's the worst form letter I've ever heard. What tone deaf idiot is getting paid/college credit for that? Ever heard of an editor?
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 5:33 PM
somebody who tends to post on this site a lot has a serious case of "fucking idiot" and a splash of "so not funny."
guess who!
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 5:35 PM
Man seven and a half inches dude is just killing it. I gotta be honest, he's givin' hummus a run!
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 5:37 PM
I guarantee that those rejection letter posts are fake.
Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 5:39 PM
from the MMJ message board:
Hey guys,
we want you to be aware that we would never associate with a company that would write the kind of email that is rumored to have been sent. Here is an official statement from Gotham Casting:
"Gotham Casting became aware of a rumor being started regarding "Rejection Letters" to MMJ Fans for their upcoming Storytellers. We would like to make it very clear that NO such email ever went out, as we have NOT sent "Rejection Emails", and never have in the history of our company. Our company has been in charge of coordinating audiences for Storytellers and Unplugged for years and we pride ourselves on doing everything in our power to make sure the hardcore fans are represented. We have been working very closely this past week with MMJ's management to make sure that we got as many NYC hardcore fans in as we possibly could, hence why it was put on the Forum first. We are trying our best to get as many fans in as possible, but there is unfortunately a number of seats that we are allotted. However, as people cancel, and more seats are added, we add more people. This is why we would NEVER send a rejection letter, because there is always a chance of getting in, and we wouldn't exclude anyone so quickly. Not to mention that we would never reject someone because they are "not the type of fan we are looking for", because there are no "types" in specials like this. Our job is get the word out and make sure we have the biggest fans that are going to be the best audience for the band. MMJ and their management have been so helpful with this process and we would NEVER send an email that so rudely disrespects their fans. We hope to see as many of you as possible on February 24th, and we apologize for any inconvenience or anger this rumor may have caused, but hopefully you understand that this is something our company would never do."

They ARE fake. They just released a statement saying NO rejection letters ever went out:
http://mymorningjacket.com/forum/index.php?topic=13920.165
That solves that.

***totally off topic but everytime I read that comment regarding the amazingly annoying couple who were talking about TMI info, I always think back to a time when I brought a rather large container of hummus to a house party and when everyone was gathered around dipping their pita triangles into it I recall asking them, "Do like my seven and a half inch bowl of hummus? Do you like my seven and a half inch bowl of hummus? Is it the biggest you've ever had?" Yeah bro you're cool'
