538 Johnson
Government Warning

Richmond's Government Warning played their final two NYC shows back on 2/19 - first at Cake Shop (which we already posted a set of pictures from), and then at 538 Johnson later that night. Both were with Night Birds (ex-The Ergs). 538 Johnson also had Omegas.

A second set of pictures from Cake Shop (with Ex-Humans & Perdition), a first set of 538 pictures, and a new streaming Omegas song from their forthcoming Blasts of Lunacy, below...

If you are in these photos, you have gone past loser status to whatever is worse than a loser.

And if it's you holding the 40 ouncer, 2 stages below loser.

Looks like douche bag central... All you are missing is Dave Mathews in the pit

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2011 5:53 PM

Whoa. Judging solely on some of these pics and at the risk of sounding like an asshole, this looked like a douchefest.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2011 5:53 PM

Hope these kids did their schoolwork before going out.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2011 5:54 PM

Remind me never to go see this show if they come back around and do it again? Looks a little homoerotic mixed with physical violence.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2011 6:01 PM

That sure is a lot of dudes

Posted by Chris | February 28, 2011 6:10 PM

Nice rope of spooge!

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2011 6:13 PM

Yeah! Punk sucks! What a bunch of losers!
This blog should cover more nu-goth!

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2011 6:15 PM

Both shows looked fucking awesome.

Can any of the previous posters help me understand the advantages of being a sad, lonely, angry, frustrated pile of shit who hates themselves and all fun activities? You all fall into this category, so I was just wondering how that's working out for you?

Take your time, I'm sure the new Smith Westerns album is a little distracting.

looks kinda dangerous

Posted by Tom | February 28, 2011 6:45 PM

looks like a lot more fun than the shows I go these days. Nice to see that some people still know how to have a good time.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2011 6:52 PM

sick photos!

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2011 6:52 PM

Ugh, "Gasface" still exists? Nice beard dude, fits your ugly face well.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2011 6:55 PM

Kind of creepy that people have to go out and rub against sweaty cro-mags and cro-hags, simply to get human contact.

And why are there 100 photos of this nonsense?

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2011 7:13 PM

Ah, reminds me of some fun nights I had at basement shows ~20 years ago. If you've not attended such a concert, I'm sure it's hard to understand the appeal. I doubt I'd survive very long in that environment these days. When I was throwing myself into pits like that, there were never any meatheads like the guy in the Giants cap pumping his muscles in the one picture up there. There were occasionally skinheads who would show up...I'd rather not deal with either type.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2011 7:27 PM

Man, that little kid in the Adrenaline O.D. t-shirt is just going for it in every pic!

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2011 7:30 PM

looks awesome

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2011 8:14 PM

looks like a lot of man love at this sausage festival

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2011 8:26 PM

I wonder if those are punk rock silly bands?

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2011 8:38 PM

This is what you call a douche pit. Should you decide to enter a douche pit more than once, you are either a: 1) Qualified idiot. 2) Bonafide closet case.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2011 8:46 PM

Yeah, going to a hardcore show makes you a closet case, but constantly harping on the lack of girls at these shows and saying "sausage fest" as if we take that as an insult, doesnt make YOU a closet case.

Like I always say, enjoy your drab, lifeless Flavor of the Week bands at your nearest Williamsburg venue. You cant comment on quality of live music if your reference points are limited solely to artists who play MHOW, or some other Bowery Presents venue.

Posted by GregBX | February 28, 2011 9:12 PM

Quality of the crowd is not always corollary with the quality of music. However, its obvious in this case. Sorry to pop your little pink ego.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2011 9:31 PM

Right, because youve met all those people and you know for a fact that theyre all douchebags. These arent pictures of the Gathering of the Juggalos. It's a hardcore show. Something far more vital than the pathetically boring shit you probably witness on a weekly basis.

Posted by GregBX | February 28, 2011 9:34 PM

While the show looks ridiculous at least these guys are ripping off good bands like Necros and old RKL. Id take that over the neckbeard metal bullshit any day.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2011 9:43 PM

The very idea that someone would find the pit at this quasi-hardcore show minutely entertaining demonstrates category 1. Thank you for your assistance broham.

Posted by Anonymous | February 28, 2011 9:53 PM

rook sweet ^^

Posted by انمي | February 28, 2011 9:54 PM

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2011 9:04 AM

Is this a hardcore show re-enactment? Like those civil war dudes?

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2011 9:38 AM

Hooray for underage drinking!!!

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2011 9:38 AM

great photos

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2011 9:49 AM

everyone looks angry cuz they're mommy told them to be home by 11

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2011 10:01 AM

This is no different than any house show, ever. Including the high level of men, 40s being drank, and sweatiness. So people hating on it must be...out of touch...

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2011 10:19 AM

"Is this a hardcore show re-enactment? Like those civil war dudes?"

Yeah, instead of punches thrown it should be live ammunition.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2011 11:11 AM

I've been getting way too into pop music mind control hysteria and now that I look at it, the anarchy sign kinda looks like the pyramid with an all seeing eye ontop. I'm wearing a tinfoil hat.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2011 4:34 PM

PSA: Punk Rock is a product of the fashion industry.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2011 4:40 PM

lol brooklyn vegans. prob so many mustaches. pix aren't beachy enuf 4 u?

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2011 6:26 PM

Someone should burn 538 Johnson down, it's completely fucking fake.

Also Immortal was better.

Posted by Anonymous | March 2, 2011 1:35 AM

damn that looks like a fuckin great time.

Posted by the jim | March 2, 2011 7:37 AM

4:40, you're wrong. Your knowledge of punk rock clearly begins and ends with the Sex Pistols.

Posted by Anonymous | March 2, 2011 4:41 PM

Posted by Anonymous | March 3, 2011 12:58 AM

people hating on 538 have never been there or probably got punched once.

2) anarchy shirt is a Big Boys shirt. they were a band once.

Posted by Anonymous | March 3, 2011 12:48 PM

Whoever hates on me and the out needs to move to Park Slope and die already

Posted by Gasface | May 9, 2011 4:35 AM

This show was awesome, but hardcore needs to die already and just let the few good bands remain.
Is that the kid from Loud Youth in the AOD shirt? I saw them once but he had longer hair so I'm trying to figure that out.

Posted by sean | March 15, 2012 2:40 AM

Looks like a lot of fun.
