Rolling Stone announced today that Queens of the Stone Age will headline the magazine's South by Southwest showcase on March 16, kicking off four days of events at La Zona Rosa.

Queens of the Stone Age will be re-releasing their self-titled 1998 debut album on their own label, Rekords Records, in March, and their SXSW performance will launch the band's 2011 North American tour.

"We're excited to be doing another year of concerts at SXSW," said Jason Fine, Rolling Stone. "We can't think of a better lineup to help kick it off."

The Wednesday showcase lineup also includes The Black Angels, Mini Mansions, J Mascis and Beast Make Bomb (winner of the Converse Get Out of the Garage contest). The complete lineup for all four days of events will be announced next week.
Presale tickets for QOTSA's show at Terminal 5 in NYC are already sold out, but general sale begins Friday at noon.

Rolling Stone also [finally] announced that no one gives a shit about their sorry excuse for a publication anymore.

Josh Homme = One of those people who thinks he's cooler/more badass than he really is.

"bah, play Mercury Lounge"

The show at the Box was even smaller than Mercury Lounge. That was a fun show.

Whose box?

Ugh, Does anyone remember the horrible QOTSA/Eddie Vedder collaberation?

Totally off topic but the last time I saw Queens of the Stone Age, there was this amazingly annoying couple who were not only talking during the whole show but were talking about TMI info. The guy kept asking her "Do you like my seven and a half inches? Do you like my seven and a half inches? Is it the biggest you've ever had?" Yeah bro you're cool

Mr. Self-Important doesn't want to be too far away from the phone in case Henry Kissinger calls.

He's got the Dalai Lama on line 2...

Hummus Queens of the Stone Age

Is the singer still married to that dude from the Distillers?

QOTSA have sucked huge balls ever since Nick Oliveri and Mark Lanegan left. I seriously would not go see them if they gave me a ticket and bought me beer.

Posted by Anon | February 17, 2011 5:18 PM

They really should get Oliveri back for this tour at least. How can they do and do their first album without him?

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 5:29 PM

So I hope with all these complaints, it is easy to get in w/ a wristband

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 5:33 PM

What a caveman. This guy makes me sick.

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 5:35 PM

Oliveri doesn't play on the s/t.

***totally off topic but the last time I read that comment regarding the amazingly annoying couple who were talking about TMI info, I always think back to a time when I brought a rather large container of hummus to a house party and when everyone was gathered around dipping their pita triangles into it I recall asking them, "Do like my seven and a half inch bowl of hummus? Do you like my seven and a half inches? Is it the biggest you've ever had?" Yeah bro you're cool'
