QOTSA

Queens of the Stone Age have announced a March and April tour, but not just any tour, but a tour where they will perform their 1998 self-titled LP in its entirety (and other songs too). The LP is being re-released...

"The reissue of the first Queens' album will be happening through Rekords Rekords in partnership with Domino on 7th March 2011 and will be available on CD, double vinyl LP, and via digital download from here. The record has been remastered from the original tapes and features three additional tracks: The Bronze, These Aren't the Droids Your Looking For (from the split EP from '98) and Spiders and Vinegaroons (taken from the Kyuss/QOTSA split EP.)"
AND:
"..to celebrate the re-release of Queens Of The Stone Age eponymous 1st album, Rekords Rekords are releasing a VERY limited edition 7" of How To Handle A Rope (A Lesson In The Lariat) backed with Avon on Monday 28th February 2011. It will be sold exclusively here. It's limited to 1000 copies, all individually numbered, so we all know what that means; sleep on it and you haven't got a hope in Hell of owning a copy, unless you feel okay about forking out some stupid money on eBay."
Adding more fuel to the fire that the band will appear at SXSW in mid-March, the tour kicks off on March 18th in New Orleans. It hits Terminal 5 in NYC on March 25th. Tickets go on sale Friday February 18th at noon ($40 advance / $45 day of show). All tour dates below...

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 2:06 PM

Why T5...WHYYYYY!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 2:07 PM

Is this really like the best 72 hours of BV ever?!

LCD adding more shows, Radiohead's new album, Queens of the Stone Age playing their self-titled....

what's next?

Daft Punk playing at MSG on 4/1?

P.S. Bonnaroo line-up out tomorrow!

Fuck T5. Helmet/Vitus is is.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 2:14 PM

Would've rather heard Rated R.

Posted by Venkman | February 14, 2011 2:20 PM

Is there seriously any question RE: Helmet vs QOTSA? Until Nick Oliveri is back in the fold QOTSA is a lite-rock joke.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 2:21 PM

If they had the lineup from this album touring this might be worth $40, but for this price tag and T5...nah.

In celebration of the success of the "do you like my seven and a half inches? do you like my seven and a half inches?" comment meme, I'm doing a formal study of sizes here of all male BV commentators. Feel free to submit yours below.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 2:28 PM

The dude from Ash Ra Temple wins

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 2:32 PM

"Would've rather heard Rated R."

+1. Rated R is not only their best album, it's one of the best albums PERIOD. The S/T album is great too.

Considering this show is at T5, I am going to Crowbar, Vitus and Helmet.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 2:33 PM

No Oliveri, no peace

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 2:37 PM

Without Jason Bonham I'm not going

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 2:40 PM

"No Oliveri, no peace"

There never will be, considering how he was kicked out because he kicked the shit out of his wife.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 2:42 PM

jesus christ. Terminal 5? really? i think all these bands have no f*cking clue what a $hithole that place is. Last time QOTSA played it was at theatre at the garden = great! unbelievable. how many great bands will we miss because we refuse to go to terminal 5- shut that f*cking place down already. FU bowery presents

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 2:42 PM

These fuckers are going up against Thin Lizzy in NYC

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 2:43 PM

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 2:59 PM

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 3:05 PM

T5 sucks but i'll suck it up for queens of the stone age

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 3:05 PM

Sick! Can't wait. Too bad it's at Terminal 5 though. That place blows goats.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 3:05 PM

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 3:22 PM

w/o nick oliveiri it's not truly QOTSA and as a previous post stated Kyuss would be far better!!

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 3:24 PM

$50 to see this band at T5????

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 3:26 PM

Grammy award winner Josh Homme

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 3:31 PM

who is T5 blowing to keep getting these gigs???

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 3:32 PM

I've never gotten to T5 early enough to get a good spot on the first balcony. Does anyone know if the sound is any better if one was standing first row balcony towards the front of the stage?

i really hate t5.

Posted by HalfCehemical | February 14, 2011 3:35 PM

Call me when it's Rated R.

Posted by Justin | February 14, 2011 3:53 PM

Love Kyuss, but couldn't stand John Garcia's voice. Josh has better vocals. It actually prefer (early) QOTSA.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 4:06 PM

Fuck T5. This blows

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 4:07 PM

@3:35 - I've been on the first row balcony right near the stage and the sound is not that great. It's better on the balcony towards the back (behind the sound and lighting boards), and even then it's just a loud, bass-less, shapeless sound coming at you.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 4:13 PM

terminal five rules, it has a sick location

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 4:13 PM

yea, great location if you like to buy BMW's before seeing some crappy indie band with an inflated sense of self worth play

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 4:16 PM

Sick location? It's a 15 minute walk at least from the nearest subway and surrounded by luxury car dealerships. Obnoxious location.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 4:40 PM

ahahaha i love that cover

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 5:03 PM

Helmet >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Queens

Regardless of venue.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 5:18 PM

disappointed its at T5, but I can't miss this

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 5:27 PM

FUCK T5.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 5:55 PM

AAARRRGGGHHH!!! TERMINAL FUCKING-5. I've been waiting for QOTSA - with or without the woman-beating bass player - since they played the amusingly-titled WAMU. Now Bowery Pissants brings us a $50 show at THIS hellhole...

The second and last time (at least I swore it was the last time) I went to this dump (to see The Stooges), I staked-out a place toward the back and far side of the main floor. That's where I almost tore the head off of the late-arriving drunken frat boy (complete with "ironic" backwards trucker hat) who spilled beer all over myself and the girl next to me, despite our repeated attempts to avoid him. This is the kind of individual that LOVES this place.

Era Vulgaris, indeed.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 5:57 PM

the queens are king...
the queens on friday, motorhead on monday...

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 6:29 PM

T5 needs a new sound crew & a better board. PiL played there with there own gear and crew and it sounded freaking amazing.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 6:43 PM

T5 isn't THAT bad you pussies. Bands enjoy playing there and a majority of their shows are sold out. So stay home, no one cares.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 7:26 PM

4:13 (B) - made me lol. in my head it's jeff spicoli's voice.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 7:55 PM

are they even good live? i bought the live album and it was terrible, including and especially the dvd

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 8:00 PM

They were fucking great when they played the Theatre at MSG a few years back.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 8:04 PM

Fuck you, 7:26 - you know NOTHING. Go throw up on somebody at a festival.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 10:59 PM

8:00 is this for real? this is a joke comment right.

They are one of the best pure live rock bands out there. NEVER the same setlist twice. Always killer break downs and jams.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 11:07 PM

MSG was a good venue if you were in the standing room area. Everybody else was stuck in the fucken seats. NO ENERGY in the seats.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 11:14 PM

i have a feeling this tour will have the same setlist (more than) twice.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 11:16 PM

11:14, yeah I guess. I was up front in GA and it rules, but I heard the people in the seats were kinda lame.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 11:25 PM

queens of the BONEr age

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 11:29 PM

Alright dont be an asshole of course this tour is going to have the same setlist. Fuck off you hummus eating twats

Posted by Stevie Pills | February 14, 2011 11:49 PM

sound is way worse the higher u go...it gets lost i guess in all the bouncing around and turns more & more echoey and bassless. close to center on the floor is really your only safe bet.

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2011 11:50 PM

theyre playing a secret show at lpr

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 1:22 PM

"heyre playing a secret show at lpr"

yea sure they are, its not like they're playing in philly the day before and boston the day after

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 3:34 PM

i love how everybody has some problem with this like ,,, Rated R is better or Kyuss, Kyuss, kyuss or without Nick i'm not going ,,, if they like kyuss so much then they should have seen them in 1992 instead of being into new kids on the block... and i will bet money that the majority of people on this boards first taste of Qotsa came after they heard Dave Grohl was involved ... but that's just me..

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 6:05 PM

GOD i hate terminal 5 .... i can't go there they don't serve PBR and the L train doesn't stop there...

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2011 6:12 PM

You don't have to be a hipster to hate Terminal 5 - just capable of intelligent thought.

Sick, Sick, Sick !!!

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 11:08 AM

T5 FTL. I'm a big QOTSA fan but every time I see a band at Terminal 5 I always remind myself, "this is the last time." Ugh, worst.

Posted by Anonymous | March 25, 2011 11:03 AM

"You don't have to be a hipster to hate Terminal 5 - just capable of intelligent thought."

But apparently you DO have do be a trendy loser/hipster to spout cliched nonsense like "theyre playing a secret show at lpr", which was nowhere near funny the first time.

Posted by Anonymous | March 25, 2011 11:24 AM

I don't like Terminal 5 but, as long as I'm on the floor I'm fine. I'm not gonna be some dipshit stuck behind a pole watching the band. If I get there late, I'll just shove through and, once on the floor, it's fine.

Posted by Anonymous | March 25, 2011 11:46 AM

I'm down as fuck with this show, but I'd still rather see Them Crooked Vultures

Posted by Anonymous | March 25, 2011 12:20 PM

anybody know what time they are going on?

Posted by Anonymous | March 25, 2011 1:38 PM

9pm sharp
