Steve Martin posted these...
Steve Martin

Hopefully Steve Martin will make a little more change with the release of "Rare Bird Alert", his second bluegrass album with The Steep Canyon Rangers. It comes out on on March 15th via Rounder Records. He should also make a little loot (not saying he needs it) from the series of intimate record release shows he's going to play with the band in NYC that week. The shows are happening at Highline Ballroom (on sale Friday at noon), Joe's Pub (three shows - probably go on sale Friday) and Music Hall of Williamsburg (on AmEx presale now with general sale starting Friday). It's also possible there are even more I don't know about yet (he seems to be taking 3/18 off). If so, let me know.

All tour dates, which also include one show at Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood, NJ (tickets), and another show at Mayo Center for the Performing Arts in Morristown, NJ (tickets), are below.

I went to one of these concerts before and it was a total ripoff. I thought he was going to talk about art history, but instead he just played the banjo the whole time. Boo!

Pictures of checks are bullshit. He hasn't recooped his advance.

Is he worth to check out? I'm curious! They had to cancel his Wellmont gig on his last tour - I'm guessing to poor ticket sales?

3:39: have you ever seen bowfinger?

...there's your answer.

if you like bluegrass then check it out. SCR are great and steve can really play. Dont go looking for comedy, aside from a funny line or 2 about song inspiration its not part of the show

he's the father of the bride.

Steve Martin is a jerk, and no I don't mean The Jerk, just a jerk.

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2011 3:55 PM

3:55 is a jerk for calling steve Martin a jerk.

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2011 3:58 PM

He's also a pink panther. And I don't mean The Pink Panther.

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2011 3:59 PM

l.a. story is really good, everything else he did is CRAP

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2011 4:01 PM

He's also a plane, a train, AND an automobile.

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2011 4:01 PM

I'm glad to see that the Harry Fox Agency is so generous after they take out their bloated fees and operations cost.

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2011 4:15 PM

Poor Steve Martin.
First his hair goes prematurely white, then his instrument becomes an anachronism.

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2011 4:25 PM

I hope King Tut is the oncore.

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2011 4:32 PM

who cares..

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2011 4:38 PM

will LCD be there?

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2011 4:41 PM

@3:31#2 - Harry Fox doesn't pay artist advances. They are a performing rights collection and administration agency...not a record label or publishing company.

Posted by anonypus | February 16, 2011 4:44 PM

how much hummus can you buy with $0.03?

Posted by Joe | February 16, 2011 4:45 PM

@3:31#2 - p.s. Not to be mean...but the word is spelled "recouped"...not "recooped."

Posted by anonypus | February 16, 2011 4:46 PM

Totally off topic but the last time I saw the Steve Martin , there was this amazingly annoying couple who were not only talking during the whole show but were talking about TMI info. The guy kept asking her "Do you like my seven and a half inches? Do you like my seven and a half inches? Is it the biggest you've ever had?" Yeah bro you're cool

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2011 5:00 PM

thirty nine dollars and fifty five CENTS!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2011 5:07 PM

does 5pm keep that retarded post saved in his clipboard? so sad.

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2011 5:19 PM

hey 5 pm, are you sure he measured correctly? Most dudes measure from the bottom and get wildly inaccurate size measurements.

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2011 5:34 PM

@4:44

They still have to to pay their staff and bills by taking portions of the monies owed to artists.

Posted by Anonymous | February 16, 2011 6:20 PM

he's good kind

Posted by Zoo Bait | February 16, 2011 6:33 PM

On a separate note, Marnie Stern has opened a DICK SUCKING booth at her shows. $300 gets you a cum shot in her face. For an extra $100 she'll let you put the tip in.

Posted by Oh My | February 16, 2011 6:40 PM

@6:20 - Sure...Harry Fox charges an admin fee just like any collection agency does. Any reason why they should be providing their services scott free? And nope...I don't work for Harry Fox.

If you dont know what you are getting into check out some videos of past performances. I recommend his Austin City Limits performance, 2010 (PBS). You can tell he takes his musical careers seriously. This is not a gimmick or way for a comedian to make some more money. He is a talented musican. Listen to his his first album. He's skilled at playing the bango and the creativity in his lyrics is hard to beat. I have always been a fan of steve martins comedy and movies. When his first album was released I was in the middle of a blue grass period which stemmed from Old Crow Medicine Show, Levon Helm, and later Cherryholmes... Anyway I got the album The Crow and can honestly say that every single song on the CD is good. I like the lyrics of late to school and Pretty flowers is beautiful. Dont expect stand up Steve Martin... expect good banjo pickin

Gotta love how people automatically try to make it look like anyone coming to someone's defense is that person itself.

Does it make you feel any better about yourself? "Ha Ha! I exposed Steve Martin!" Yeah, we care. Seriously.

Posted by Anonymous | February 17, 2011 10:43 AM

Steve Martin haters suck.
