Apollo

Stevie Wonder will be inducted into the Apollo Legends Hall of Fame at this year's Apollo Theater annual Spring Gala. The Gala Benefit Concert and Awards Ceremony brings together the best and brightest in business and entertainment to raise funds in support of the non-profit theater's remarkable legacy and its initiatives for emerging artists and community and educational programs in New York City and beyond. Stevie Wonder joins past inductees into the Apollo Legends Hall of Fame including Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Quincy Jones, Patti Labelle, Smokey Robinson, James Brown, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Little Richard, and Ella Fitzgerald.

This star-studded concert and award show will feature music performances by some of the industry's hottest entertainers. Special guests who have appeared in the past include Jamie Foxx, Chris Tucker, Mariah Carey, Prince and many others. Sometimes the audience won't know who will show up until they walk out onto the famous Apollo stage!

Tickets for the June 13th event are on presale now (password = ALIST). General sale starts March 31st (it's a very long presale).

Oh and speaking of Prince, he plays NYC again THIS MONDAY (with Cee-Lo).

I would gladly pay $250 a ticket if it was a Stevie Wonder concert, but it's not.

I still haven't heard any of his records in full, just the hit songs and what not?
What album should I start with? "Songs In The Key of..." I guess any would be good to start with, but is there one that any of you found a kind affinity with the second you heard it?

Thanks.

Can we at least assume Stevie will do a few songs at this?

When Stevie Wonder finally started playing shows again a few years ago, he just stuck with the hits. Nothing from the back catalog, just the singles. Still, great show (although him singing "Obama" was annoying). Why can't they just have Stevie do a proper show and leave the guests at home?

Personally my favorite album of his is Signed, Sealed, Delivered (the song itself, however popular it may be, isnt nearly the best song on it). Absolutely perfect. Not a weak song in the bunch.
