LCD

Though the Thursday show sold out almost instantly, tickets seemed to be available to the Wednesday, Tuesday and Monday Terminal 5 shows for at least 45 minutes. Also worth noting: Stubhub doesn't list a single ticket and Craigslist and eBay are quiet too,

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 10:26 AM

Shocker. When you don'thold back all the tickets, fans actually have a real chance. We all love LCD, but this proves whomever they chose as promoters/tm were up to something shady. Thank the band for fixing it this time!

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 10:27 AM

Thanks to BV for hyping up the shows! I'm guessing there will be lots of people selling it on the day of for sure like last T5 shows!

what's so bad about t5?

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 10:38 AM

The fact is that concert promoters, like art dealers, are fiercely protective of the asymmetric information advantage they have over the general public. Bowery Presents, the promoter of these shows, knows full well how many tickets were sold to the MSG show, and when. But they’re not releasing that information, because it’s very much in their interest for everybody to believe that 13,000 tickets sold out in a matter of seconds.

Posted by James Murphy please answer.... | February 22, 2011 10:39 AM

Quit your bitching. These weren't even supposed to happen. Are you really going to be pretentious about T5? Obviously the demand for these shows is high, so they needed to get a last minute venue that would hold enough people and wasn't already booked. I managed to get 2 tickets a full 35 minutes after they went on sale. To the angry tweeter at the top of the post: you can't expect to get LCD tickets to their last show an HOUR after they go on sale in NEW YORK. It's called being prepared.

Is there any way that I can sell my 2 Thursday Terminal 5 tickets? I changed my mind and don't feel like going?

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 10:50 AM

Totally off topic but the last time I was at Terminal 5, there was this amazingly annoying couple who were not only talking during the whole show but were talking about TMI info. The guy kept asking her "Do you like my seven and a half inches? Do you like my seven and a half inches? Is it the biggest you've ever had?" Yeah bro you're cool

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 10:56 AM

I've never had trouble at T5. The staff have never been dicks. I get to shows early to get a spot up front. Good view, good sound, good location.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 11:33 AM

"what's so bad about t5?"

when you arrive late to one of these lcd shows you will then find out

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 11:43 AM

What 10:27AM said. Nice to see there are a few shows where actual non-connected fans were able to buy tickets.

I know James Murphy wants to sound like a good guy and all, but he'll never explained to you what really happened for the MSG sale.

Which is sort of reasonable as he runs a record label that will continue after all this nonsense is done. But everyone needs to realize it's a very corrupt system, and he's just as entrenched in it as TM/MSG, no matter what he writes on the internet.

Only real fix is write your congressman to make scalping illegal again and to encourage venues/promoters to use paperless ticketing. There's too much money involved to expect music douchebags to act ethically.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 12:00 PM

Twist ending is those weren't the Terminal 5 tickets onsale this morning - they were the missing MSG tickets! They removed sections 100-400 now it's a giant pit, see yall in the dancefloor

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 12:13 PM

Bowery Presents is warning concert goers that the level of chickpea gas could be at dangerous levels for the LCD shows. The gas will start on the floor and rise to the upper levels. Precautions should be taken to protect yourself from this nauseous gas.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 12:29 PM

Congrats to LCD selling out 4 dates at Terminal 5 within an hour, but on the downside, it probably now means tickets on Stubhub and other places won't be dropping since the demand still remains. I was hoping the T5 shows would take at least a week or two to get sold out, but to me, the T5 shows are LCD winning the battle while MSG is the scalpers winning the war.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 12:33 PM

Wait do we have to wear something black/white for these T5 shows?

Thanks,

I wish I had such disposable income

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 12:52 PM

I got MSG tix, albeit shitty, during the general on sale...very lucky I guess. What still confuses me is that StubHub has <900 tickets available, so where are the remaining 12,000 tickets? I know I have two of them. Is everyone going to MSG a richie who bought from a scalper? Me so confused.

I just hope that it's a great show and all of this ticket shit doesn't dampen what should be a great night.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 12:53 PM

Nah, what's going down on Stubhub is that its always going to show that around 900 tickets are for sale. Every time a ticket is sold, it'll be replenished. It's going to look like that probably all the way until the week of the show. StubHub sellers have more tickets in their hands than they're showing on site.

Just when you think you have seen all the idiocy on here, something else happens. Hilarious, one clueless moron copying and reprinting the ramblings of another.

I almost wish i knew how to contact both of these idiots to laugh at them when i show them my MSG GA pit tickets that i will for sure get for no more than Face come the week of the show.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 2:45 PM

^ oh shit, its the angry guy who frequents the LCD posts and always calls people clueless morons and often references their hilarity. everybody bow down to his regal intelligence. either that or run for your hummus.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 2:54 PM

Anyone who thinks they're getting MSG GA tickets for face value the week of show is woefully wrong. A tiny portion of the pit tickets are in the hands of actual scalpers, (all GA tickets were sold at Merc, some more went to band) most on Stubhub are just fans seeing if anyone will pay >$1000 for a fucking concert ticket.

LCD MSG pit tickets are the hottest NYC tickets of the year, maybe in the world. And now that all the T5 shows sold out in less than an hour, those prices aren't dropping anytime soon.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 3:06 PM

i hate scalpers as much as the next guy, but particularly given the quick T5 sellout this morning, i think anyone who plans on getting "GA pit tix for face day of show" are out of their fucking minds. good luck with though, angry guy.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 3:15 PM

I bought my 2tix for the Tues 3/29 show with a Ticketmaster gift card. Since it is just like a credit card, I sure as shit hope this thing will scan for my entry. However, it has no name on it.

While I'm here, I think that use of a TM gift card is about the only way that these tickets could in any way be transferrable, depending on how closely they decide to check ID's. In order to keep things moving, I can see them just looking at names on CC's to see if they match up. No idea if I had to show my license along with my CC for NIN in Aug' 09...meaning...pretty sure I was supposed to, but I have no idea if it was actually asked for.

Posted by Funderburgh | February 22, 2011 3:18 PM

Looks like the 100% paperless ticketing thing worked on this end. Kudos, James! Now we'll see if T5 holds up their end of the bargain by getting all those people inside in a timely manner. Too bad I slept on buying tickets this morning. Had some nice dreams though, so I can't complain.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 3:20 PM

LCD MSG pit tickets are the hottest NYC tickets of the year, maybe in the world.

- My favorite part of the above quote is 'maybe in the world.'

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 3:22 PM

"Looks like the 100% paperless ticketing thing worked on this end."

That is assuming nothing happens to you between now and then. If you can't go (it happens), then you are out $100.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 3:23 PM

i hope a lot of people end up not being able to go. more room to dance in that hell hole

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 3:26 PM

They are up in arms on the island of Luzon over not getting tickets to LCD Soundsystem.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 3:27 PM

to add some color to this lively discussion, thought i'd share this. was just watching a pair of SEC 7 floor seats for msg on ebay and they sold for $630 with the shipping included. i think the ebay auctions give a good indicator of market perception, what folks are willing to pay for the "premium" experience, and so on.

so yeah, good luck with those face value GA tix, lol.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 3:35 PM

when the fuck are they actually going to release all the msg seats that never even went on sale?

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 3:37 PM

^Never! Actually, they may have a ticket drop a day or 2 prior but those are usually awful seats partially behind the stage. The ones that never went on sale are held for comps, guest lists, etc (front loge). Being their last show, LCD has a ton for friends of friends, etc. They just don't want to talk about it.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 3:49 PM

I was comment 2:45 the so called "angry guy". Far from it actually. I love laughing at you idiots with your statements about what you think you know. Oh and sorry but i'm not the same person posting over and over. Deal with the fact that others in the know realize how clueless in fact you are.

And yes i agree with you 3:20 about the hilarious comment of the dummy saying they are the hottest tickets of the year or the world.

Trust me I and others will get GA for face at worst. I will keep calling you jackasses saying different clueless because you are. You have no idea what you are talking about. If you know what you are doing and how to work the system, you will get them at that price at worst.

But continue to spout off what you think you know about the demand and how the scalpers work or how many tickets were distributed when where and to whom.

I mean it is the BV comment section right? You are all geniuses who know exactly what is up.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 3:51 PM

dear angry guy,

no matter who is right, you seem like a real asshole, and it sounds permanent.

good luck with that.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 3:58 PM

it is def. weird that the term5 shows were all listed as SOLD OUT as soon as they sold out, but the MSG show still has a 'buy tickets' link. seems indicitive that they are gonna release more. hopefully a shit ton more. so at least 12 normal people can go.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 4:19 PM

I threw in the towel and paid $400 for two shitty tickets at MSG. I don't feel like dealing with this on my shoulders anymore, and just want to be at the show. The downside is now I owe my mother two weeks of pay. Guess I won't be eating the next few days...

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 4:19 PM

Prices are only to go up for MSG now that there are officially no more shows.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 4:21 PM

12:53, a lot of people (myself included) were able to buy tickets to the show.

A large portion of the "scalpers" on StubHub are probably also fans who will end up going, but want to see if they can get a four figure payday for the seats.

MSG is sold out and people are going to this show. The perception created by whiners that "no one has tickets" is basically impossible. Also of every major event that has hit MSG, LCD is the one where scalpers all organized to ruin the event? Why wouldn't they show their "power" with the Prince shows? Or the Strokes? Or Iron Maiden over the summer?

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 4:23 PM

Tickets on Stubhub were $90 yesterday, and now are $115. That's roughly a 22% hike in pricing in under 24 hours. At this rate, you can probably expect to see prices back up to $145-$150 by the weekend.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 4:25 PM

4:19, out of curiosity, what section (or level) were the "shitty" seats you got? i am in a similar mentality lately.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2011 4:30 PM

Terminal 5 - is the downward spiral of the NY music scene. Probably one of the worst venues in the eastern coast, possibly the United States. Please redesign that place or just turn into a bank.
