that celebrity rehab show is fun to watch in the "at least there's someone worse off than me" way, but it doesn't look like any of them actually get any help there. dr. drew ought to reconsider his career path at this point.

shit he made the band

Dr. Drew is an egomaniacal closet puff who exploits celebrities at their lowest to get his salt-n-pepper ass face time on the TV. Fuck him.
Posted by Anonymous | March 8, 2011 8:42 PM
Dr. Drew is a total vampire.
Posted by Anonymous | March 8, 2011 8:44 PM
This explains why Dr. Drew aired a sales pitch to Sheen today. Probably has his tiny pink balls in a vice.

ARe you serious? Do you assholes realize that only 7% of addicts recover? There is VERY low cure rate in rehabs, because ADDICTION cant be curred it can only be treated...unless you have addiction or perhaps are an addiction professional than maybe only can understand....you people are dumb about addition.
RIP Mike Starr.

Explain your problem with "salt-n-pepper," 8:42.
Posted by Anonymous | March 8, 2011 9:17 PM
I said Salt and Pepper, referring to his hair.
Not "salt-n-pepper" referring to a pair of rapping dykes
Posted by Anonymous | March 8, 2011 9:27 PM
No, you used "salt-n-pepper," and it was obvious you were referring to his hair.
Now, back to the original question; what's your problem with "salt-n-pepper," you shallow, ageist, homophobic douche?

"you shallow, ageist, homophobic douche"
Shallow? I guess so, depending on what cretinous level of society you feed off of.
Ageist? Maybe. I guess. When 65 year old women dress and act like they're 20, I want to destroy them. And dudes with grey hair wearing Affliction shirts. They can go to. If wishing people would act their age is ageism, then I am guilty as charged.
Homophobe? Nah. Calling someone a closet case isn't homophobia. I have no fear or revulsion for any fag or dyke.

"If wishing people would act their age is ageism, then I am guilty as charged."
...and apparently, 11-years-old (a socially-stunted 11-year-old).
Bleating about "destroying" 65-year-old women, and your lack of fear or revulsion regarding "fags" and "dykes" - now that's cretinous, "dude."

Starr was unhappy with his life, and had been since he was booted out of AiC. He knew what he was doing - mission accomplished.

To all the anti-Dr. Drew comments above, you obviously don't get the scope addicts who are also celebs are dealing with. Dr. Drew doesn't do Celebrity Rehab to exploit celebrities at their weakest. Instead, he uses money and the opportunity for celebs to potentially save their "careers" as a way to get them sober. If you watched the show, you'd know that because he talks candidly how offering a monetary reward for patients to get sober is at times a last resort tactic but it works. Most patients don't stay sober, but if the guy got Tom Sizemore clean (for the time being), he must be doing something.
He always speaks very seriously how the disease will kill the patients but this is the first time it actually has. RIP Mike Starr.

fukken A, guy was twisted but thought there was a chance he might pull thru the haze. RIP Mike and Lane. Sad sh*t

Um, 8:15, the bottom line is that it is a television program and it exists because it generates money. It's not being produced out of the goodness of people's hearts. When it stops getting ratings it will go off the air. Maybe Dr. Drew cares, maybe he doesn't, but I wouldn't take his "candid" talking head shots as evidence of either.
Posted by Anonymous | March 9, 2011 9:13 AM
@9:13am
For VH1, it probably is a money and ratings grab but I think Dr. Drew is aware of that and uses it to his advantage to help these pseudo-celebs out while VH1's footing the bill. Without the show, he may not have ever had the chance (or funds) to get through to some of the patients on there. Like I mentioned, the money ploy is what gets the celebs to sign on and in some cases, it works. VH1 ultimately foots the bill to get these celebs help. Why shit on something if it's helping save some of these people's lives? Would you rather them just not be given the chance at all? It's a give and take situation: Some celebs get help, VH1 gets ratings, we get entertained. Everyone wins in a sick, twisted way.
It should also be mentioned that Dr. Drew isn't just a rehab doctor to the stars. A friend of mine had a relative who went to rehab, and was assigned Drew as their doctor. The guy has a real job working with regular people on top of all this, too.

Dr. Pepper > Dr. Drew

FUUUUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKK!!!!
Posted by Anonymous | March 9, 2011 9:56 AM
People are ragging on Dr. Drew for being a douchey, smug guy with his own personal gain in mind while treating patients, others are trying to justify it. Hate to break it to all of you, but if you've ever actually been to the doctors, you'd know that most of them (especially the male ones) have an ego-driven god complex. Being a doctor is a tough job, takes a lot of cockiness and sadly plenty of them put themselves through med school because they love the large salary payoff. I hate doctors for that reason, but who else is going to keep us healthy?
We no longer live in a time where doctors are "good" people who want to save the world. There was a report I read that said due to the current economic downturn, a large amount of business and finance majors ended up going to med school instead because it suited their financial interests better. Doctors hearts are in their wallets and not in our health.

YES! What a haunting track. Come to think of it, the Singles soundtrack had the best songs by all those bands: PJam, Pumpkins, Screaming Trees, Alice. Breaking out the flannels in my mind.

"Celebrity Rehab" really works wonders with its celebrities.
Posted by Mary | March 9, 2011 12:18 PM
Damn. Whereas Layne dropped off the radar for several years until he was found dead, we were able to (sort of) keep track on how Mike was doing, making this even more eerie. Thought he was going to make it (eventually).
RIP Mike.

It was heart breaking hearing Mike Starr on Celebrity Rehab explain how hurt he was when Alice in Chains let him go. And that his dad, whom Mike considered his best friend, was also an addict who did drugs with Mike was so sad.
But Mike Starr will live on because I will always listen to those great Alice in Chains tunes. It was quite an accomplishment to be in one of the best bands from the nineties, right up there with Nirvana and Guns and Posers.
Rock on in heaven Mike Starr, rock on !

Yeah 12:36, Mike was still pretty beat up about getting kicked out of Alice In Chains during Celebrity Rehab. The part that stuck out in my mind was the episode where one of his friends came by and gave him personalized guitar picks to hand out to everyone and they were engraved "Mike Starr AIC." He was really proud of them and still had a lot of pride in his work from back then. I would not be surprised if he still thought he'd mount a comparable comeback as a musician, and the failure to do so once he got sober was too much for him to handle.

The latest report said he was mixing methadone and anxiety meds before he died.
