Sick Of It All

Sick Of It All celebrated 25 years of New York Hardcore at Webster Hall on Saturday (3/26), playing to a sold-out Webster Hall with Snapcase, Merauder and Razorblade Handgrenade. For Snapcase, the show was their first appearance in NYC in three-plus years, since headlining Music Hall of Williamsburg as part of a Callum Roberts benefit. Snapcase currently has no other NYC dates in the near future, but those of you upset about missing out on Sick of It All are in luck; they have now been officially revealed as the special guest playing Black & Blue Bowl 2011 alongside Gorilla Biscuits, Agnostic Front, and many others. Tickets for that May 28th Webster Hall show are still on sale.

Webster Hall was an odd place to be on Saturday. The hardcore show, the Hull/Horseback/Batillus/Caltrop show at The Studio, and an "Awesome 80s Prom" were all going on at once in the mammoth venue. Pictures from the Hull show are on the way, but for now check out some more pictures and some videos from upstairs at Webster Hall, below...

Great pics. Heard nothing but good things about the show. Wish I couldve made it.

SIOA are the hardest working band around. If you can't have a good time at their show, you got no pulse.

Kings of NYHC.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 12:38 PM

Epic Sausagefest.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 12:41 PM

There's no point in even having opening bands when the headliner is SOIA.

People were going crazy, old dudes (myself included) were having a blast. So many old faces showed up for this. Looking forward to GB/AF/SOIA in May.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 12:41 PM

Sick fucking show. Also looking forward to the one in May.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 12:44 PM

at 38, G.I. Joe Headstomp still gives me chills and makes me want to run through a wall...

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 12:48 PM

@12:41 Snapcase was awesome. SOIA killed it, but having Snapcase on the bill was great.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 12:50 PM

Richie's 'Ramones' bowl-cut is dope. Dude was rocking mullets and staches while trust-fund hipsters were swimming in their daddy's nuts.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 12:52 PM

12:48: Same age here and same feeling. In the 30 or 40 times that I have seen them, they have NEVER mailed it in.

Thanks you very much for article

Posted by Henry | March 28, 2011 1:11 PM

1:06: wow, i wasn't aware that the hundreds of girls that I saw there had "sausages". You were ignored the first time you posted. Must you continue to act like a closet-case short-bus seat-warmer?

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 1:32 PM

1;06 is probably 18, just moved to BK from Kansas City and has no idea who SOIA are. Move along now, dickhead, move along.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 1:38 PM

Worse than Hitler

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 1:43 PM

I was there, and it was a blast, but, there really weren't many girls there. Just being honest. I mean, did we ever go to sick of it all shows for the girls? I think there's better places to meet women.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 1:44 PM

It's crazy how much hardcore and hip hop shows are alike, particularly in the backline of hype men/guys from other hardcore bands crowding the stage.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 1:45 PM

1:44 there were plenty of women. Either upstairs or in the back.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 1:47 PM

1:44: I saw a lot of them, but most of them were towards the back. Great show nonetheless.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 1:48 PM

NYHC was and always will be a scene!

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 1:55 PM

1:45, so true. When these bands played CB's there was more of their friends on stage than in the audience. Very 'you fuck with my people, I'm gonna fuck you up' look to it. Had a buddy with me at SOIA on Saturday that has never been to a HC show. Even he broug that up with "why do they have a huge posse on stage?"

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 2:01 PM

There were several chicks stage diving during SOIA. Need Proof? It's already on this page.

During Merauder I saw a (pretty drunk) guy Swan Dive off the stage and there was nowhere anywhere near him to catch him. He went head first to the floor with all of his body weight over him.

He looked like he was pretty much dead after he hit the ground. Anybody know what happened to that guy?

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 2:11 PM

Pls explain. What is up with the bro/hardcore basketball jersey/short thing? I don't fucking get it.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 2:12 PM

i grew up at coney island high and wetlands in the mid 90s and just cant get into this chugga chugga nyhc stuff anymore.

sounds weird but nyhc died for me when warzone ended.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 2:22 PM

It was my first time seeing these guys. I was not disappointed!

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 2:28 PM

2:22. I too used to attend CIH, Wetlands, CB's. SOIA ain't chugga, chugga .. that's for sure.

Wish Crown of Thornz did a reunion. Absolution is going to be insane!

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 2:37 PM

I used to attend Mamouns, oasis, hummus kitchen, and feinsteins... The food is chugga chugga in all them spots yo.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 2:46 PM

I was there and Sick Of It All were awesome! Great show by one of the greatest hardcore bands ever. Merauder and Snapcase played great sets as well. Fantastic pics! Thanks!

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 5:28 PM

@2:12 It's called wiggerism.

The whole scene is sickening. All these guys stand around all like they have all this shit to prove.Blah Blah Blah,oh were so strong, lifes so hard in the suburbs.Lets all have a great time beating the shit out of kids and weak people.Yeah were so cool were like in our 30s and 40s pissed off for no reason, god were so cool. Now dont get me wrong the musics great, but the scene really turned into shit cause of all these roid jacked half wigger assholes! Well I feel better now.Go ahead Meatheads let the "Oh hes a Homo" comments begin;)

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 9:00 PM

9:00 hasnt been to a single hardcore show in his life. What did you watch the Gangland documentary on Straightedge, and now youre an authority on hardcore? What a jackass.

Posted by GregBX | March 28, 2011 9:16 PM

If I went to this show I would have said the same thing I say in the bathroom "Hey,is this where all the Dicks hang out? And another thing any true NYCH fan would not even be on this website! Foreal yo!

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 9:19 PM

^^ First off, great grammar!

Secondly, Sick of it All is so far from the scene you just described. They are one of the most politically aware bands in hardcore. You really have no clue. Read their lyrics. Also, they even have a song totally against what you are describing, "Pushed Too Far"

Walking around, think you're so cool
Beating up kids, weaker than you
Tried to avoid you, kept on coming
Pushed us too far, gotta do something

Most of the lyrics are about being pissed off about all the injustices and hypocrisy in society, the world and the US.

Finally, does the singer of Sick of it All or Snapcase look roid jacked? What the fuck? You are one clueless prick and have no clue. The scene is not about proving anything.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 9:22 PM

Hey Greg BX ,I grew up on all this shit,in fact went to many shows,I dont know how old you are but the HC scene is way different than years ago,

Posted by e | March 28, 2011 9:26 PM

Sick of all you!!! Oi Oi Oi.........new song that just came out by that new band called, Im gonna regret these tatoos forever.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 9:34 PM

I get it, youre one of the scene elders who hasnt been involved in years, yet claims to know what the fuck is going on now. I'm telling you, you dont. When was the last time you went to a show? If anything, the 90s were more violent than anything that's been happening in NYHC, or hardcore in general, since 2000. I very rarely see fights at any of the shows I go to, whether it's the NYC, LI, Jersey, Philly, or CT.

Posted by GregBX | March 28, 2011 9:46 PM

Greg your right, last show was super bowl of hardcore 4 yrs ago, best set was AF and the other 8 hrs were pretty shitty. It was just such a bad time and I was looking so forward to it.I based all of this on that one show.

Posted by Anonymous | March 28, 2011 10:00 PM

FYI: My 9:22 PM post was a comment on the 9:00 PM post that was so off the mark.

HARDCORE:

The delicious act of two men rubbing the heads of their dicks together, with one of the men's foreskin being stretched over the head of his partner's dick. Add a little leakage (precum) from one (or both of their dicks), mutua excitement, rubbing, grinding, heavy breathing and the result is a mind- blowing orgasm for both men.

Posted by I have no neck,I am cool..... | March 29, 2011 12:58 PM

is that yellow and black thing a white-power symbol on merauder's guitarist's t-shirt?

Posted by Anonymous | March 29, 2011 8:06 PM

2:31: My point was that indie/trendy/whatever knobs have no connection with the NYHC at all (generally speaking), so they treat the scene with ignorance and hostility. Sort of how a vegan would look at meat-eating. The analogy had nothing to do with whether or not any of the members of SOIA were vegan themselves.

Posted by Anonymous | March 29, 2011 10:19 PM

10:19 I thought you were calling vegans a bunch of pussies.

Urban Dic.

1. Male Hardcore Fans having fun.

Cosmetic technique whereby strong bleaching solutions like hydroquinones are used to lighten the anal area. This procedure is employed by sreamo fans, body builders, no necks and tough guys. Seems over time, the butticular area becomes darker (some say it's due to dark foods like coffee, others speculate it's due to staining from the bilirubin content in feces.) Either way, those who aspire to wear butt floss as moshwear or do slam dancing seem to feel a lighter sphincter will improve their image.

The treatment is said to sting quite a bit.

Posted by Still can't see my neck! | March 29, 2011 11:00 PM

Does Raoul sing this? Anyone, Anyone....

Rubber Ducky, you're the one,
You make bathtime so much fun,
Rubber Ducky, I'm awfully fond of you;
(woh woh, bee doh!)
Rubber Ducky, joy of joys,
When I squeeze you, you make noise!
Rubber Ducky, you're my very best friend, it's true!
(doo doo doo doooo, doo doo)
Every day when I
Make my to the tubby
I find a little fella who's
Cute and yellow and chubby
(rub-a-dub-a-dubby!)
Rubber Ducky, you're so fine!

The slap only hurts for a minute ... it's the humiliation that seems to last a bit longer. But you seem like a feckless dweeb, you won't even realize it.

Are "Merauder" aware that they spelled their own band name wrong?

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2012 5:25 PM

These people don't even realize that hardcore passed them by years ago. They're still out there, going through the motions, playing the same old shit in lame-ass metal/emo venues to the same old lunkheads, meanwhile a healthy new scene has sprung up and continues to carry on without them.

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2012 5:31 PM

Posted by kostüm karneval fasching | November 11, 2012 2:39 PM

"it's a business, not a fuckin' movement"

...it's funny because there is an old bootleg of a Youth of Today show from CBGB's in 1986 where the bass player, who is in one of the bands photographed above, states "it's a movement, man, not a fuckin' business".

although, in his defense he was probably 15 or 16 years old when he said that....
