There's this really cool website called Wikipedia where you can find answers to all sorts of questions.

This is going to be so much better than the BMT shows last September. Just like the T5 Godspeed show was better than the BMT and the Church ones.

Haha, I know this is going to get people going.

Fire away, BV losers!

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 12:44 PM

HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 12:45 PM

great news for a Monday!

Posted by holly | March 21, 2011 12:46 PM

They better actually sing the verse to dopesmoker this time

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 12:52 PM

fuck yeah!!!

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 12:52 PM

Still don't know who they are, but they must be good if there are no T5 complaints.

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 12:55 PM

can't blame them for wanting to make some money... and i'm happy they're coming back...

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 12:57 PM

LSD

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 12:58 PM

They should play the wellmont, so I can sit down when I'm high.

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 1:14 PM

Bummed as I am that this is at T5, I was out of town for the Masonic Temple shows so I'm stoked I can actually catch them. Still wish Hakius was in the fold, but oh well.

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 1:18 PM

Hope if they play near Austin again, they play somewhere with the projection screen show. Mohawk couldn't fit it.

Posted by TXn | March 21, 2011 1:21 PM

12:44 is trolling. Venues like Brooklyn Masonic Temple are practically built for bands like Sleep. Why do you think Neurosis played there, too? T5 is such an awkward fit for this band and it makes zero sense.

Posted by GregBX | March 21, 2011 1:30 PM

Saw Sleep last year, such a great show! Go or stay home, but No complaining where they perform...if you like them, you'll LOVE seeing them live!!

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 1:43 PM

1:30, commenter 12:44 pointed out he/she was trolling to bait other people.

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 1:54 PM

cork sniffing venue haters haven't showered since Friday and spend their days hitting refresh, refresh, refresh to see if anyone has taken their trolling bait. don't even bother getting a life; stay gold, Pony Boy

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 1:57 PM

sleep was amazing last year. matt pike rules!

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 1:59 PM

"No complaining where they perform...if you like them, you'll LOVE seeing them live"

Well who made you the fucking god over others? Fucking twit, of course you can complain where a band performs. I think what you really meant to say was if you like them, you'll be happy to see them live although the crappy venue will lessen your enjoyment for sure.

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 2:00 PM

twit? ease up.

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 2:04 PM

The show at BMT was fucking amazing, but considering the volume limitation and general shittiness of T5, there's no way this will compare to that

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 2:11 PM

@ 2:11, OK, you win ... we're all losers for not seeing the show that you were at. your mom told me you had some issues, when i was boning her last night in an alleyway

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 2:14 PM

Stop talking about TwitPics, this is supposed to be about sleeping!

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 2:16 PM

I can't wait to see these guys.
And, anyone that argues about venues is a fucking idiot.

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 2:24 PM

although terminal 5 may not be the best venue they do book some killer bands

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 2:25 PM

Listen, you fucking little fuckfucks. Fucking stop shitting on my venue

Posted by T5 | March 21, 2011 2:28 PM

i have never had a bad experience at T5

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 2:28 PM

This band puts me to sleep.....

on the other hand, at least Converge is playing on 5/25 in NYC!

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 2:29 PM

@ 2:00...of course you can complain...I can also call you a pansy-ass sissy f--ker who I hope gets publicly humiliated by Matt Pike for sounding like such an annoying little cry-baby b!tch. Go ahead and complain...now go F yerself!

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 2:44 PM

"And, anyone that argues about venues is a fucking idiot."

"i have never had a bad experience at T5"

2 of the reasons why Terminal 5 still exists. Probably 2 bros from Jersey.

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 2:45 PM

this band is pretty good, not great

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 2:45 PM

Converge puts me to sleep

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 2:46 PM

@2:45 - you're right, there is a better venue than T5; it's your mouth, and everybody's coming

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 3:01 PM

Converge > Sleep

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 3:07 PM

horrible

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 3:20 PM

Melted my brain at ATP. That is all.

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 3:20 PM

"@2:45 - you're right, there is a better venue than T5; it's your mouth, and everybody's coming"

With a level of intelligence and wit displayed above it is more than confirmed that those posts were bros from Jersey.

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 3:32 PM

Its funny that when Sleep was actually producing the music theyre famous for the only people who liked them were dirty squatters and oddball metalheads.

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 3:41 PM

Represent!!

Posted by dirty squatter/ odd metalhead | March 21, 2011 3:56 PM

@3:32 -- and what a erudite sense of sapience you have graced us with here. such droll insight is normally found exclusively within the social service and hospitality industries. perhaps you can criticize and troll some more, please? i suppose that you have only about 8 more minutes before mom comes home and makes you do your homework.

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 3:59 PM

^^^ hahaha dude @ 3:32 got PWNED! hahahahaha!

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 4:03 PM

Angry Guy has returned with his venue-bashing and pretentious nonsense which includes the words "twit," "fucktard," and "schmuck."

I <3 Angry Guy

Oh and anyone who infers someone is from New Jersey pejoratively is a moron. Y'all wish you could live somewhere as nice as Morris / Somerset / parts of Essex county. True, not as many hummus shacks exist as in Billysburg, but at least there are exponentially less douchebags.

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 4:12 PM

^^^^^ hahahaha the 2 bros @3:59 and @4:03 feel like they won something. Good work 3:59 going through the dictionary and thesaurus but unfortunately what you wrote makes no sense. Also, lol at morons who still use the word PWNED. Cmon guys, stick to trying to pick up fat ugly whores down at the shore.

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 4:12 PM

What the heck? Are the crew still exhausted from SXSW?

MHoW announced hours ago that the Melvins are playing five records over two nights in June and there is no post??

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 4:16 PM

hahahaha
everyone look at the hipster in his natural environment - unshowered, in front of his computer at coffee hut #2957, incoherently criticizing everyone
only one more day until you can go down and pick up your unemployment check

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 4:16 PM

dude, don't feed the troll.

What the heck? Are the crew still exhausted from SXSW? MHoW announced hours ago that the Melvins are playing five records over two nights in June and there is no post??
Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 4:16 PM

What does that have to do with the price of hummus?

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 4:19 PM

Here is something serious for a second. Can someone explain to me logically how people really think that comments that don't jibe with their feelings is all the work of one person?

Case in point, does this person who made that comment at 4:12 and attributed the Terminal 5 bashing to some "Angry Guy" really think it is all one person or just says that to make themselves feel better. Or are they just a mental patient. Seriously.

When you claim certain comments are all the work of 1 person you really really look very stupid. Actually dumber than any of the people making the comments you criticize.

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 4:43 PM

Scrolled right to the bottom, because I knew the headline would open up some beautiful comments...let me go back and scroll...

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 5:05 PM

i live in north carolina and have driven up to nyc on 3 separate occasions to see shows at T5.

it really wasn't ever worth it, but seeing as i missed sleep at both the temple and ATP, it looks like i might be doing it again.

i will say as an out of towner, that T5 is the second worst venue i've ever been to outside of death by audio where you had to navigate a maze to get to the stage.

In October 2008 the Association of Lebanese Industrialists petitioned to the Lebanese ministry of Economy to request protected status from the European Commission for hummus as a uniquely Lebanese food, similar to the Protected Geographical Status rights held over regional food items by various European Union countries. Fadi Abboud (president of the Lebanese Industrialists Association), stated that "Israelis have usurped several Lebanese and oriental products". According to Abboud, Lebanon exported the first hummus dish in 1959. As a response, food critic Janna Gur wrote: "The success of certain brands of Israeli hummus abroad may have been what brought about Abboud's anger", leading him to claim that Israel has been "stealing" their country's national dishes, like hummus, falafel, tabbouleh and baba ghanouj. In response, Shooky Galili, an Israeli journalist specialising in food who writes a blog dedicated to hummus, said that "trying to make a copyright claim over hummus is like claiming for the rights to bread or wine. [...] Hummus is a centuries old Arab dish—nobody owns it, it belongs to the region." As of late 2009, the Lebanese Industrialists Association was still "preparing documents and proof" to support its claim.

North Carolina .... great state. Y'all get television yet? I love how marrying cousins ain't just lawful but encouraged down in North Carolina. Sorry that T5 doesn't meet your standards ... not all the clubs can be like that Charlotte Coliseum shithole.

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 6:20 PM

douches

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 6:24 PM

Anonymous | March 21, 2011 3:41 PM:

thats only partially true, the people I knew who liked them at the time were into heavy music of all kinds, I must've seen them 8 times from 93-95. Good times. for me, at the time, they were the only band as heavy as the Swans had been.

Posted by nygrump | March 21, 2011 7:03 PM

Really, did it achieve total heaviosity?

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 7:13 PM

6:20:

i'm not comparing T5 to arenas, just other clubs. i've been to lots of other nyc venues and with the exception of death by audio, T5 was the worst.

i've tried being front row, in the back, and up on the sides. none of them did it for me.

i'd much rather see sleep somewhere else. maybe i'll just blow it all and go to LA.

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 8:31 PM

Serious question, 8:31

How is the hummus in North Carolina?

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 8:39 PM

8:39

awful.

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 8:52 PM

I've heard they use corn instead of chickpeas.

I feel sorry for that part of that world
:(

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 8:55 PM

@7:03 Im not saying people didnt like them but they werent accepted then as they are now. Its the same as how Eyehategod are now some kind of superband, but how many times did they play in front of 10 people in NYC... Its just funny that its so trendy I guess.

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 9:38 PM

Kyuss was heavier than Sleep 93-95.

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 10:24 PM

Jaccuzi Boys are way heavier than Kyuss 2011 - 2011

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2011 10:50 PM

Kyuss was not heavier than Sleep, ever. I saw Kyuss open for L7 and L7 was even heavier than Kyuss.

Posted by Anonymous | March 22, 2011 1:48 AM

proceed the weeeedian nazareth! fuck all yall...lulz.

Posted by Anonymous | March 22, 2011 8:30 AM

when i heard that Sleep were reuniting and coming to New York, I figured I would try an experiment. I bought a tub of hummus, and then one spoonful at a time, I loaded up my ass with hummus. it does get tough the more you get up there, as the peristaltic push tries to counteract the manual push of another spoonful of hummus, but eventually I was able to get the whole tub up the pooper. Then, I went for a walk. I made it down to the corner of N. 6th, but then I couldn't hold the torrent back any longer ... I erupted like Vesuvius all over a couple of hipsters looking for a cab (in Williamsburg, I know). Anyway, thought that I'd share that with al of you thinking about going to the Sleep reunion show.

Posted by Anonymous | March 22, 2011 9:29 AM

9:38 - I hear what you're saying - I just recall a much wider variety of folks, basically united around headspaces. back then, you could puff in the clubs. I saw them open for Hawkwind like 4 times, the version of Hawkwind with HElios Creed and Genesis P Orridge - so you know the audience was full of freaks.

Posted by nygrump | March 22, 2011 10:35 AM

And communists!

Posted by Anonymous | March 22, 2011 11:12 AM

9:29-

Thank you for sharing the valuable results of your experiment. Would you recommend I do the same for when I go to see Sleep? A hummus enema may be quite beneficial to my colon health. I have read in Hipster Health Weekly that phytonutrients in the chickpea are good for reducing the severity of adenomatous polyps. Of course, my rectum is not used to having hummus in there (especially any spicy variety, or variety used with excess olive oil), so I believe that the most comfortable place to perform a hummus enema would be at a rock 'n roll concert. Unfortunately I will not be able to perform the hip-thrust dance movement, but I believe the enema will be worth it.
