Twerps

One of the international indie rock acts that did make it to SXSW this year was Melbourne, Australia's Twerps who are now on a U.S. tour that brings them to NYC this week. They play Glasslands tonight (3.23) with Family Portrait, La Big Vic and Family Trees, then Cake Shop tomorrow (3/24) with Big Troubles, Guy Blackman and The Hairs. All tour dates are at the bottom of the post.

It might not be a surprise, given who they're playing with here, that Twerps have a record out on Underwater Peoples, a just-released three-song 7" which you can stream below. Like a lot of bands on UP, you can hear the classic Flying Nun garage pop influence in their sound. (There's some Go-Betweens in there too.) There's another 7" coming out on Olde English Spelling Bee later this year. Good stuff. They live halfway round the world, do go see them if you get the chance.
