Justin Vernon @ MHOW in 2010 (more by Paul Birman)
Bon Iver

According to a press release, Bon Iver's August 10th 'Celebrate Brooklyn' show at the Prospect Park Bandshell will be his biggest NYC show yet, and...

"For the shows Justin Vernon will perform with a 9-piece band that includes many musicians who contributed to the forthcoming album 'Bon Iver,' out June 21 on Jagjaguwar. The touring band will consist of regular Bon Iver contributors Sean Carey (drums, piano), Mike Noyce (guitar) and Matt McCaughan (drums), Rob Moose on violin and guitar (Antony and the Johnsons, The National), Mike Lewis on bass (Andrew Bird, Happy Apple), and a horn section including Reginald Pace, Colin Stetson (Tom Waits, Arcade Fire), and C.J. Camerieri (Rufus Wainwright, Sufjan Stevens).
Tickets go on "Celebrate Brooklyn" presale today (4/28) at noon. I believe the password is "celebratebklyn". Bon Iver's only other scheduled date at the moment is in Wisconsin.

Speaking of Sufjan Stevens, his Celebrate Brooklyn show is still on sale too.

Speaking of Andrew Bird, you don't need tickets at all to see him play the same venue this summer.

cheers

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 11:20 AM

Is he even big enough to sell this place out?

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 11:21 AM

Didn't know Prospect Park had ferrets.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 11:31 AM

That's pretty awesome that Tom Waits, The Arcade Fire and Sufjan all agreed to play with him!

Have fun paying $45+ for the presale. I'll wait 'til next week so I can buy them without fees at the Merc Lounge.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 11:33 AM

can't wait.
11:33, stop hating. do what you want to do, why do you care how others are buying their ticket?

Posted by anon | April 28, 2011 11:37 AM

Thanks so much for posting, can't wait! How do you use the pw? Do you have to sign in with a specific username, or do you purchase normally and get prompted for the pw?

Posted by newb | April 28, 2011 11:47 AM

11:37, it's inevitable that people will complain about the ticket price after Ticketmaster fees.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 11:53 AM

"Have fun paying $45+ for the presale. I'll wait 'til next week so I can buy them without fees at the Merc Lounge."

What are you going to save in fees, $8? You're a real savvy consumer (and likely unemployed). Good for you, though.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 11:57 AM

was this general admission floor like animal collective or did they have seats?

Posted by MvsH | April 28, 2011 11:58 AM

LCD'ed. No luck. Gone in miliseconds

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 12:01 PM

Anyone get anything? I tried right at noon and came up empty.

Posted by Paul | April 28, 2011 12:03 PM

password isn't working...

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 12:04 PM

nada? did it really get LCDed?

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 12:04 PM

Music vs Hunger, why are you asking your question as if this concert already took place?

11:57, saving 8 bucks per ticket is really clutch when you end up SCALPING THEM ~! That's rite, 11:33 is a scalper ~ !

Posted by Deano Bravo | April 28, 2011 12:05 PM

Nada

Posted by Ajax | April 28, 2011 12:05 PM

did that really just happen? wow.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 12:05 PM

Is that password legit? Because literally at noon on the dot there are no tickets apparently

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 12:05 PM

it is not sold out. just not working.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 12:05 PM

this summer's "LCDed" is last summer's "Draked"

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 12:06 PM

it actually let me in around 11:58 or 11:59 and there were not tix then, either.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 12:06 PM

password worked. thanks!

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 12:06 PM

not working

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 12:07 PM

I'm willing to bet there were no tix allocated just now, just to create a feeding frenzy tomorrow. Prospect park hasnt been selling out. Surfjan anyone? anyone?

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 12:07 PM

Keep trying - I finally got a ticket at 12:06.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 12:08 PM

not. working. garhg.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 12:09 PM

Got 2!!
Very Pumped!
I get the feeling this is Vernon's year.
(And Fleet Foxes's's's, but we already knew that.)

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 12:10 PM

How did people get them? Ugh. Not fair. LCD all over again.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 12:12 PM

there must have been 50 tix released or some dumb shit, that was ridiculous

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 12:12 PM

pw isn't working for me! celebratebklyn. anyone got anything else?

Posted by Melissa Hope | April 28, 2011 12:14 PM

There's no reason to think that tickets are all gone. Sufjan, AnCo, Cut Copy, and Decemberists all have tickets available.

Plus, this presale was for Celebrate Brooklyn members, anyway.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 12:14 PM

I'm psyched for the new album. The debut remains in my heavy rotation.

Posted by Dan | April 28, 2011 12:14 PM

Got one! Weird how they pop up periodically.

Posted by Paul | April 28, 2011 12:16 PM

Happy for those that got them, but getting really discouraged at the moment...

Am I doing something wrong?

Posted by Burg | April 28, 2011 12:20 PM

All the Kanye fans bought up the tickets in hopes of Yeezy being the special guest!

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 12:20 PM

15 tickets already on stubhub, $85 is the cheapest...

LOL the lcd curse.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 12:24 PM

Such a fucking scam ...

I must have tried over 20 times now.

Posted by Burg | April 28, 2011 12:26 PM

I am so frustrated now too. I am a Celebrate Brooklyn member & wasn't able to get one in spite of trying since 12 PM. They need to come up with a less scalper friendly way to handle the presales. I am going to try to speak to their membership office about this & would pass along any real suggestions of how they could do this that doesn't encourage scalping... (i.e. what website could they use for the presales that would help them match the presale tickets with their membership list or use will call, etc.)

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 12:30 PM

12:30pm. Relax.

It's not fuckin Radiohead playing at Prospect Park.

Just only Bon Iver.

Saw this dude at SoundFix.

It will take him weeks to sell this place out....or if at all.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 12:32 PM

I can show empathy for 12:30 getting shut out despite being an actual Celebrate Brooklyn member. The rest of y'all who clamored for the CB! members presale password? Deal with it. Y'all can wait like the rest of us until they go on sale tomorrow. Tickets will still be available this time next week, anyway.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 12:36 PM

@12:32 You underestimate Bon Iver. He's wildly popular, even more so now after Kanye. I could easily see this thing getting LCD'ed.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 12:36 PM

Yeah I don't think tickets will last actually. Of all of the CB shows so far I bet this one sells out first and fast.

Y'all?

C'mon man. Don't freaking Y'all an upset person. Not here at least. Thx.

Posted by Burg | April 28, 2011 12:41 PM

It's a big show, dude hasn't played here since Winter of '08. He seems to have lost a lot of hair since then...

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 12:43 PM

gaahhhh!!! im gonna buy a 100 tickets tomorrow cos I got locked out of the pre-sale!!! oh wait! its a field in brooklyn for some albeit popular still obscure guy.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 12:47 PM

deano- it was bad wording cause i thought the presale happened at 10am.. since I couldn't go through the tik purchase process I can't tell if it's just a general admission floor or if they're going to have seats.

Posted by MvsH | April 28, 2011 12:48 PM

They do have seats but it's always GM there MvSH

Posted by Burg | April 28, 2011 12:52 PM

ok thanks Burg, appreciate it.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 1:01 PM

^^^No seats. The tickets says General Admission Standing.

Posted by Paul | April 28, 2011 1:01 PM

Celebrate Hummus.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 1:02 PM

There are seats for really fancy Celebrate Brooklyn members, 1:01.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 1:05 PM

Yeah they always say standing... which technically is true becasue there's a standing / sitting area in the back.

But they will most definitely have seating from the stage to about 30 -40 rows back.

Basic fold up chairs..

Posted by Burg | April 28, 2011 1:12 PM

Burg, the show will be GA. There will be people pressed up against the railing near the stage. However, there will be a small seating area around the soundboard for CB! members.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 1:15 PM

usually only the shows that appeal to old people have seating. usually there's just that little section of seats for CB members.

oh, and free shows always have seating.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 1:25 PM

I got 3 tix.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 1:46 PM

i hear they're doing a series of shows leading up to it at T5

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 1:55 PM

oh. when did they release the lineup? yes i am the idiot who keeps saying celebrate brooklyn save us now

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 2:07 PM

F*CK TICKETMASTER!!!!! i am so sick of their fascist SH*T! come on hipsters - lets untie and revolt!

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 2:14 PM

the revolution will not be televised

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 2:14 PM

oh shut up gerald.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 2:15 PM

2:14,

How is it Ticketmaster people need to revolt against? Shouldn't it be scalpers/promoters?

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 2:18 PM

You people overreact the same way with every pre-sale. Just be patient, you'll get tickets with everyone else when they go on general sale. It's not like he's Jeff Mangum or this is his last show ever or anything. Relax.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 2:25 PM

yes, indeed...let's untie!

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 2:25 PM

bon iver IS jeff mangum and this IS his last show!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 2:28 PM

this is the PRE sale, meaning, there will be more tickets released very shortly... everyone relax.

and this venue doesn't have seating at all. it's first come, first stand/sit/lay out your blanket

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 2:42 PM

For the record, Brooklyn Vegan, if you publish a presale password publicly, you shouldn't complain about scalpers having it. Just saying.

Posted by WTF | April 28, 2011 3:11 PM

I was thinking of going to the Mercury Lounge box office at noon but, last time, there was a line of people and a few shows ended up selling out quickly due to me being stuck behind various dipshits who were slow or didn't know what the hell they were doing.

Anyone else had that problem?

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 3:35 PM

Nope.

Posted by Anonymous | April 28, 2011 9:21 PM

WOW look like a great show. Sorry I missed it. :(
