Jonny Corndawg @ Bowery Ballroom (more by Ryan Barkan)
Corndawg

"Expecting the usual d-bag bands who take their sweet time getting on stage, I arrived at 9:30 p.m. to find Dawes in full swing with some character on stage with them, wearing a horse cardigan, cowboy hat and Mariah Carey-fade sunglasses. What?

The Western-looking character, I later learned, was Jonny Corndawg who brought a Nashville twang and some knee-knocking dance moves to the stage. Post-performance, he threw out some of his ghetto airbrushed t-shirts denoting "nasty memories."" [Kelly Shea]

Jonny Corndawg's previously mentioned April residency at Brooklyn Bowl kicks off at the Williamsburg bowling alley music venue tonight (4/4), and then continues each Monday this month with different openers (Michael Hurley opens the final one).

Tickets are on sale for all four Brooklyn dates ($5.00 in advance, $7.00-day-of), and you can definitely pick them up at the door, OR... you can enter to win one of TEN PAIRS that we're giving away for EACH show. PLUS, every winner will also get a free veggie corndog (they'll be selling varieties at the venue) (they're not vegan, but they're not meat either and they got them just for us). In other words, we're giving away FORTY PAIRS OF TICKETS (and 40 veggie corndogs). Details on how to enter, with a a pre-beard video documentary on Jonny, details on Corndawg's new album (that he needs help funding), and more tour dates, below....

Meet Jonny Corndawg from Miku & Ryan on Vimeo.

Dear friends of Corndawg:

Things simply could not be going better for us these days: Jonny has been out there non-stop for the past year singing, touring, playing in packed music halls, and now, best of all, he has an amazing brand new record ready-to-go and waiting in the wings. The album is recorded, mixed, mastered and patiently waiting to be wrapped up in some gorgeous album art which has already been designed by Michael Gaughan. It is simply the best Corndawg album yet.

Which is why we're turning to you, friends and fans of Corndawg, we are looking to you to help us fund this album and spread the Corndawg word to the rest of the world. We have teamed up with our good friends at Thirty Tigers to help us start a label, manufacture, promote and release the album. We want this thing to hit BIG; so we're gathering together a good heap of capital to build an all-star team and make sure that it gets all the proper marketing and publicity it deserves. $20,000 is our ideal goal but we are starting with $7500 here just to get the album printed and things moving, the more we raise, the more we can do!

But what's in it for you? Glad you asked. For smaller donors, we have arranged some great care-packages of Corndawg goodies-- many handmade by Jonny himself. We've got leather goods-- belts, wallets, dog collars, all kinds of things that work well and smell great. We've got airbrush goods. We've got t-shirts. We've got drink coozies. And for larger donors we've got chicken dinners, a private show with Jonny in your own backyard and even the chance to run a marathon with Jonny! However if you don't see your dream package please just get in touch, and we'll work out a new deal that fits your needs (email christine@redlightmanagement.com if you want to "custom build your own package").

But, in all seriousness, we truly believe in this album and cant wait to share it with the world. Donate whatever you can, we appreciate everyone's support throughout this process and we know in our hearts, that there're enough of you true-country believers out there to help us turn this thing into a real classic. We can't wait. Happy Birthday to us.

Thanks a million, everyone,

The Corndawg Team
