Have a 3-day ATP pass and really hope these shows won't be rescheduled on Friday/ Saturday of ATP weekend. Don' tmind seeing Mogwai twice in a week but was really excited to see them this week and again in October. Ohhhh well......

Posted by Anonymous | April 18, 2011 11:12 AM

These shows went on sale 6 months ago, how could they not have taken care of the visas in that vast amount of time?

Posted by Anonymous | April 18, 2011 11:14 AM

11:14am b/c US gov can't get anything done.

They can't even agree on one thing.

Posted by Anonymous | April 18, 2011 11:18 AM

Fuck.

Posted by Anonymous | April 18, 2011 11:19 AM

Silly booking agent, you should have applied for this visas earlier.

Except for the ticketmaster fees of course.

EXACTLY

Posted by Anonymous | April 18, 2011 11:22 AM

Visa processing seems to be a nightmare these days so blame the U.S., not the band...

Posted by Anonymous | April 18, 2011 11:23 AM

this is what happens when you feed mogwai after midnight.

Posted by chris g | April 18, 2011 11:23 AM

I'm surprised Bowery Presents STILL HAVEN'T MADE ANY ANNOUCEMENTS...

BV > Bowery Presents

Posted by Anonymous | April 18, 2011 11:27 AM

The government cant be entirely at fault here. Most bands coming from overseas don't seem to have this problem.

Posted by Anonymous | April 18, 2011 11:32 AM

" Don' tmind seeing Mogwai twice in a week but was really excited to see them this week and again in October"

My plan was also going to both shows, but I will skip the WH night if it is too close to ATP. Refund here I come.

"I'm surprised Bowery Presents STILL HAVEN'T MADE ANY ANNOUCEMENTS..."

Ticketmaster has stopped selling tickets, but Bowery Presents still has not gotten their act together.

Posted by Anonymous | April 18, 2011 11:36 AM

"Visa processing seems to be a nightmare these days so blame the U.S., not the band..."

I don't blame the band, but I think it is an insulting move to simply reschedule the dates to when they happen to be conveniently back in town.

Not sure about other cities, but Webster Hall is almost wide open starting in late May.

Posted by Anonymous | April 18, 2011 11:42 AM

I was going to sell my ticket, now stucks withit. Man, why canceld?

Posted by Anonymous | April 18, 2011 11:44 AM

Thanks a lot for cancelling these concerts, Mogwai! I don't think this was courteous toward your fan!

Posted by Anonymous | April 18, 2011 11:45 AM

Visas from UK entering US are such a bitch. Plus they're extremely expensive. From the bands standpoint, you may not know exactly what crew you are bringing over or what production you want. You can't do this 6 months in advance. No one is going to agree to tour with a band in 6 months with no work in between. ALSO, you can't get band visas first and then get working visas for crew after. The US government sees that as a red flag. Honestly, your best bet is to do it a few weeks before you leave. These things sometimes take forever to get processed. Don't blame the band. Obviously, they've been in the game long enough to know how it works. You get lucky or you get fucked. This time they got screwed. It's not like they went the night before to do it. Now, go take your gigbag to Union Pool and play for drink tickets.

^^ this

Posted by Anonymous | April 18, 2011 11:53 AM

This sucks because they were probably going to play more shows in October anyway.

Posted by Anonymous | April 18, 2011 11:54 AM

^ good point, I imagine a band like Mogwai has a lot of people travelling with them. I think people assume that it's only 5 people that are applying for visas for an international tour, when in reality it's probably more like a couple dozen

Posted by Anonymous | April 18, 2011 11:54 AM

Mehgweh

Posted by Anonymous | April 18, 2011 11:54 AM

I was really looking forward to using the earplugs that came with the new record. Oh well, that's a nice little dent in my credit card bill this month. Offsets part of record store day...

1:27 needs to get lost and no come around msuic site anytime agian

Posted by Anonymous | April 18, 2011 1:56 PM

If they don't drive up here after the Tennessee show and play in May, they are dead to me. wtf.

yes. Hey what do you want to bet the music lovers at Bowery Presents will reschedule these shows for TERMINAL 5?

Posted by Anonymous | April 18, 2011 3:05 PM

I got an email AND an automated phone call from Ticketmaster. And they're offering to refund the fees too. I hate them a little less now.

Posted by Anonymous | April 18, 2011 4:37 PM

Doesn't really help when you can't spell properly (or realize your typos) there, 1:56.

trying to get into the UK without the proper work permits is like trying to see Kayne West at SXSW. Forget about it.

Ticketmaster sent out emails saying "Attention ticket holder! We just learned that your upcoming event has been postponed:"

the email came at 3 pm, FOUR HOURS after this was posted on BV.

see you in October... at Terminal 5.

Posted by Anonymous | April 18, 2011 10:15 PM

"Hey what do you want to bet the music lovers at Bowery Presents will reschedule these shows for TERMINAL 5?"

Good point. I bet BP will combine the two WH hall shows into one T5 show. If they do, I will be getting a refund.

Remember when they would play Irving Plaza. Not the best venue, but on par with WH (after the remodeling).

Posted by Anonymous | April 19, 2011 9:59 AM

^ Yeah, it's not bad enough we had to deal with BP and the whole oil spill fiasco last year. Now this.

I'm coming in from Chicago for the NYC show...

Posted by ML | April 19, 2011 2:33 PM

Since I'm going to APW, I'll be getting a refund, I don't like seeing a band multiple times in such a short period of time. Bummed, because I wanted to see them, but at least I'm going to PJ Harvey tomorrow.

TO BOWERY PRESENTS --

Assuming one of you people reads this thing, PLEASE keep these shows at Webster Hall. Thank you kindly in advance.
