"Had this awesome dream where Tame Impala covered Angel by Massive Attack. No wait...that actually happened." - Peter Sununu

Tame Impala @ Webster Hall
Tame Impala

Tame Impala and Yuck and less-advertised opener Yawn brought their tour to a sold out Webster Hall in NYC last night (4/25). It was the headliner's only NYC show this time around, though Yuck will be back soon to headline their own show at Bowery Ballroom on May 27th. Tickets are still on sale for that. Oh, AND Yuck play a free in-store at Other Music TONIGHT.

About last night...

"[Tame Impala] had 9 flat screen monitors behind them that featured a light show that responded to the music. As you can imagine, it was a pychedelic delight. Aside from "I Don't Really Mind," Tame Impala played the entire "Innerspeaker" album as well as a cover of Massive Attack's "Angel." They even dug deep and played "Skeleton Tiger" and "Half Full Glass of Wine" off their debut EP (which is quite hard to find in the United States). The set was just about 70 minutes long and it was awesome." [According to G]

this show was boring from top to bottom. Yawn were fucking terrible derivative music too similar to everything else these days.

Yuck were underwhelming - never matched any of the highs of their record - very boring to see live.

and every fucking Tame Impala song sounded the same - the whole thing blended into a mess with little melody and without standout moments.

BORING BORING BORING WHITE PEOPLE.

i need to see more

tame impala was incredible, great show from them.

yuck was a little dissapointing however, i was expecting more from them.

I love that they mention a psychedelic light show on flat screen tv's and all the pictures are b&w. Brilliant!

Caught Impala at Coachella. While I liked their record I found the live presentation was undeniably boring. Washy, thin, and just dull all around. Sounds like that must be par for the course, shame.

IT'S A DOUBLE RAINBOW!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 2:43 PM

psychadellic is a bit of a far fetched description. It was a mono-chrome green L.E.D strobe. I like the B&W shots it makes the light pop. Stop hating -

Tame was special

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 2:43 PM

@2:37 Na, it was a great show last night

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 2:43 PM

i'm getting sick of hair. know what i mean?

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 3:02 PM

Tame's drummer is really good, and while the songs did sound fairly similar to the records, I thought it was overall pretty great.

The MA cover was great.

Posted by Hbomb | April 26, 2011 3:13 PM

tame album better than tame live for sure. yuck stole the night

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 3:16 PM

lead singer of yuck, bob dylan look a like vibes

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 3:17 PM

for anyone who thought tame impala was boring- do you lack blood flowing through your veins?

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 3:23 PM

yeah, they shoulda had tyler jumping around to make it exciting. people playing music well = boring!

swagggg!!!

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 3:27 PM

dissapointed w/ tame impala. was hoping for more. yuck was on point.

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 3:33 PM

Yuck definitely stole the show. Tame Impala was too same same and staring at that oscilloscope got boring after a while. Yawn lived up to their name.

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 3:44 PM

Denim jackets are the best.

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 3:49 PM

apparently ron paul had some sort of rally at the studio at webster at the same time last night. funny that was going on downstairs while everyone upstairs was blissing out. they should've combined the events ("before we bring paul to the stage, here's yuck with 'suicide policeman'").

impressive show. both bands played and sounded great.

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 3:55 PM

lead singer of Yuck did in fact look like Bob Dylan, circa Blonde on Blone.

yuck was good.

tame impala did not rock out as I would have hoped from listening and loving their album this winter. they seemed scared and unfamiliar with their instruments. the light work behind them was as uninspired as their stage presence, made me feel my white-ness in a bad way.

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 3:56 PM

anyone got setlist of yuck?

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 3:56 PM

Tame Impala kicked ass. Haters gonna hate.

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 4:03 PM

couldn't stop cringing at yawn. yuck was aight. tame impala was great with the extended jams and whatnot, but then again it was my first time seeing them, excluding youtube videos

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 4:04 PM

"anyone got setlist of yuck?"

pssss....(whispers) you're the only one who cares

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 4:07 PM

Don't you fools know a projection of an oscilloscope when you see one?

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 4:14 PM

Perhaps Yuck and Yawn should swap band names?

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 4:15 PM

well...does a setlist matter? They only have an album.

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 4:15 PM

good show
terrible crowd
guess that's a webster hall show for you

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 4:18 PM

Damn Tame Impala are so hot...I really mean that.

Posted by The Real Real Yup. PERIOD | April 26, 2011 4:38 PM

terrible line up

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 5:50 PM

give me a break! but i must admit, the crowd was pretty lame last night - Bowery had more energy in november than this crowd - i would go see them again when i get the chance

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 6:41 PM

Chelsea,
I stabbed you because I liked you.

Posted by Casey | April 26, 2011 7:56 PM

I dont agree with the term "Psych" when describing Tame Impala. SO far off.

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 9:36 PM

dungen do it better

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 10:20 PM

That Abbott & Costello comment is one for the ages.

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 10:38 PM

hi. photos are great. but lose the sepia/cream tinted photos. theyre good as they are, and theyre well shot as is.

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2011 11:32 PM

Yawn, Yuck and Tame.... all well named. I had to leave after 3rd song of T.I.- boring.

Posted by Anonymous | April 27, 2011 4:52 AM

I'm so sick of every sound-guy at Bowery Presents events making everything sound like Ariel Pink. enough already. Poor bands for this show were lost in the fog

Posted by Anonymous | April 27, 2011 5:35 AM

"Chelsea,
I stabbed you because I liked you."
-- I am not getting it?

Posted by เพลง | April 27, 2011 8:13 AM

I agree with 11.32, septa toned concert photos don't even come close to B/W.

They are great shots, some of the best shots I have seen on BV yet.

Posted by Anonymous | April 27, 2011 8:47 AM

I agree with 10:30 PM, but (somewhat) disagree with 8:47 AM and 11:32 PM. I think sepia toned photos are nice when the mood is right. it also depends on where you are. However B/W is preferable in most cases.

Posted by Anonymous | April 27, 2011 10:04 AM

Y'all a bunch of haters. I guess NYC show-goers live up to their name of being whiny snobs...
