The Black Angels

The Black Angels toured through town with Suuns over the weekend, hitting Bowery Ballroom Friday, and Music Hall of Williamsburg on Saturday (4/9)...

"The show on Saturday was their fifth area show in support of Phosphene Dream. For me, it doesn't get old. I get pumped up by listening to the albums all day. Even though I can anticipate the ebb and flow of the songs, it still seems like I'm experiencing it for the first time. The way they blend a song into Black Grease, the prolonged jams of Bad Vibrations, the spaces and fortitude of both versions of The Sniper -- that's some serious shit there. I'm so stupid during parts of the show that I mouth the guitar parts -- the "bwoowww, beeeouh, beeeouh."" [Music Snobbery]
None of Suuns, but more pictures from the Saturday show, and the BA setlist, below....

Some of the greatest sets I ever heard!

I would pay good folding money to see the Music Snob guy mouthing the guitar parts wearing his fedora and a forty-year old's receding hairline.

@1:37 - I didn't know there was some kinda age cut off for enjoying music. Remember that when some jerk is saying the same thing about you in approx. 30 years (assuming you're about 10 years old now).

Actually, this crowd was older than your standard Friday Bowery show, which was a good thing.

stupid show, mid range annoying music for yr ears, it can be ok on cd but such a mess live. stiff band, so bleak.
Suuns was tending to be better

i find Black Angels to have a few acceptable songs. any three. after that, don't they all kinda sound the same?
i have seen them live, but could never handle seeing them sober.

Such an awesome show. I had such a great time. Of course, Alex Maas had to be stoned out of his mind, he could barely keep his eyes open, but still, everything was so spot on with the record.

Suuns were amazing too. The drone bits were so awesome and the jams were epic.

Great pair to tour with for sure.

Nice photos, really great quality. The photographer was really chill and cool too though by the way.

Great job!

Didn't expect the Goth people but hey, they were nice people regardless and just as into it.

Did I mention it was awesome? :D
