The Dears

Back on 3/29, The Dears made a post-SXSW stop in Brooklyn to play a show at Music Hall of Williamsburg with Rewards and the Rassle. A belated set of pictures from that show, continues below...

I have an arrow and a compound bow for The Dears

Posted by Anonymous | April 7, 2011 6:02 PM

these clowns are still trying to "make it" huh?

Posted by Anonymous | April 7, 2011 6:04 PM

the pic of the nerd in the front row, pretty much sums it all up

Posted by Anonymous | April 7, 2011 6:05 PM

keytar? oh dear...

Posted by Anonymous | April 7, 2011 6:15 PM

they had about 30 seconds where they were about to 'make it' but no dice.

Posted by Anonymous | April 7, 2011 6:26 PM

Love the shots, Amanda!

Posted by Anonymous | April 7, 2011 6:31 PM

I want to adopt lots of kittens with Amanda and let her take photos of all of them.

Posted by Anonymous | April 7, 2011 6:54 PM

Wow, these guys are still trying, huh?

Think they're big in France.

Posted by Anonymous | April 7, 2011 8:04 PM

^^^ So let the French have them. Keytar? Reallly?

gang of losers is a great album. everything else kind of sucks though.

U commentors are really sad. This was one of the best shows I have seen in a while. The Dears have put out great music for the past decade and sounded very tight the other night. Sorry they are not darlings of Pitchfork or as cool as Darwin the Douchefuck. BV used to be a great place to visit...now it's a pathetic place for angry nerds to post comments.

Posted by Anonymous | April 7, 2011 9:20 PM

^^ says the anonymous douche.
sorry, the easily amused anonymous douche.
and your bitching about the bitching is helping by ..... ?

I miss LCD.

Nothing but lawyers in the audience

Indeed, The Dears have a long-established, sustained following back home in Canada and do quite well in Europe too. Not my favorite band, but they've been passionately at it a long time & have created some quality music along the way. The bitter hate around here for just about everyone is getting distracting and old, very fast.

Posted by Anonymous | April 7, 2011 11:23 PM

On that note, seems like time for BV to consider a way to address this, no?
A login requirement like Stereogum?
Maybe suspending comments altogether for a while to cool things out?
Just feels like the site is spiraling fast, sad to see.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2011 12:44 AM

"...but no dice"

Fuck that, get Andrew Dice Clay to take care of that shit.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2011 12:45 AM

"Maybe suspending comments altogether for a while to cool things out?"

You've got to cool it now. Ooh, watch out; you're gonna lose control.

Posted by Your suggestions are bad and you should feel bad. 12:44 | April 8, 2011 12:56 AM

Yeah i admire that Gang of losers is a fabulous album....I love every song of this album...Also the pics here are very wonderfully clicked...Thanks for sharing.

I would love to see the day that BV bans comments. Tons of respectable music websites don't have them. It's typically just one guy posting all the vitriol anyway.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2011 7:29 AM

^ this. Or maybe....a moderator.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2011 7:38 AM

which artists would give pitchfork exclusive interviews and premiers if their album review page was full of the kind of honest comments you find here?

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2011 7:55 AM

I blame James Murphy.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2011 8:12 AM

These guys try to hard.

Posted by The Real Real Yup. PERIOD | April 8, 2011 9:42 AM

7:55!! hummus 4ever

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2011 9:45 AM

It would take a lot of money to convince someone to moderate the comments. Deal with it.

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2011 10:05 AM

^Exactly

Posted by The Real Real Yup. PERIOD | April 8, 2011 10:13 AM

Much like the "one guy posting all the vitriol," there is one individual clamoring for moderation. What's up with your totalitarian crusade, bro?

Posted by Anonymous | April 8, 2011 10:15 AM

Time out -- go sit in the corner. Just cool off, really. I'm sure everyone will mature in a few days.
