Titus

Remember when Tom Scharpling and Titus Andronicus asked people to join them on a video shoot NJ tour? Well, that video is now a video and you can watch it below.

Titus Andronicus have been on the road for most of March and April, Pogues shows at Terminal 5 included. They wrap things up with two shows in the NYC-area this weekend: tonight/Friday at Maxwell's with Dinowalrus, and Saturday at Music Hall of Williamsburg with Dinowalrus and The Suzan. Both are sold out, as is the "Our Band Could Be Your Life" show that Titus is part of at Bowery Ballroom on 5/22, but tickets are still on sale for the June 7th show at Terminal 5 where Titus will once again play opener, but this time to Okkervil River who they'll be out on tour with at the time. All dates and the new video, below...

Can't wait to see them tonight! Anyone know what time they go onstage?

love how this was premiered exclusively in NJ/everywhere else in the world simultaneously

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2011 1:02 PM

Love how these guys moved to Brooklyn.

Can't have it both ways dorks!

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2011 1:08 PM

Lets be honest here, Jersey plain sucks. People only claim to like it for the sake of "irony." That being said, tonight's show at Maxwell's will still be awesome.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2011 1:27 PM

New Jersey sucks.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2011 1:28 PM

Admitting you're from Jersey is like admitting you once made out with your "slow" cousin - you can't take it back once you've said it, and your friends won't let you live it down - unless they're secretly form Jersey too.

"New Jersey sucks."

says someone who is probably from Alabama

"Admitting you're from Jersey is like admitting you once made out with your "slow" cousin "

Says someone who is probably "from NYC" aka moved here 2 years ago from Wisconsin.

"Lets be honest here, Jersey plain sucks"

Says someone who probably is "from Brooklyn" but has never been anywhere except Williamsburg since they moved there after graduating NYU, not counting that one time they ventured to Bushwick for a party.

I guess New Jersey is all about horribly out-of-tune singing.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2011 1:44 PM

Let's be honest here, Titus Andronicus plain sucks. People only claim to like it because they are ignorant boobs who don't know any better.

And there is nothing wrong with NJ, there are way more douchebags per square mile in Brooklyn than just about anywhere else on the planet. Also, the relative level of douchebaggery per capita is extremely high, and bolstered by people who like Titus Andronicus.

1:42 and 1:42 - It must hurt to be from such a shitty state and realize there's no actual defense for it. You're better of saying you're from Deleware of Maryland. As for Douchebaggery per capita - 1:49 may have a point, but at least they don't live in New Jersey!

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2011 1:58 PM

^ Excuse me - 1:42 and 1:49

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2011 1:59 PM

1:58 seems chill. he must get all the ladies.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2011 2:00 PM

This band plays here every week, I swear.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2011 2:00 PM

2:00 - Only the ones who never want to go to Jersey!

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2011 2:03 PM

I think you mean 1:41 and 1:42

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2011 2:09 PM

I am from New Jersey and I agree that it sucks. Case closed.

i luv how u all bash NJ like its a 'person' or that only awful people live there.

The greater tri-state area is one inter-conneted megaopolis.

To draw any cultural distinction between NJ from that of metro NY and CT is retarded and just shows your not from around here and you don't get it.

Three of the top four highest per-capita states are NY, NJ and CT for a reason, stupid. We all work in NYC, grew up here and eventualy moved to NJ, NY state or CT to raise a family. These are three things none of you can relate to, being a native, having a need for a full time job and having people who depend on you. No go away.

waking up for breakfast
burning matches
Talking quickly
Breaking baubles
Throwing garbage
Drinking soda
Looking happy
Taking pictures
So completely stupid
Just go away

NJ has a lot of good diners, cheaper gas, no sales tax on clothing, Maxwell's and Uncle Floyd. Sounds pretty good to me.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2011 2:47 PM

NJ also has a few decent hummus joints. It's really not a bad state at all.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2011 2:49 PM

I've been to worse states...but not by much

Posted by Alvis | April 29, 2011 2:51 PM

you will always

BE LOSERS!!

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2011 3:00 PM

Great grease truck cameo at 3m16s. Long live the Fat Cat!

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2011 3:22 PM

2:30 PM: I am from the NYC metropolitan area; have lived here my whole life. To say that there is no cultural difference between NJ and the NYC metro area is ridiculous. There are nice areas in NJ, but the state is very different.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2011 3:55 PM

so are they a good band?

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2011 4:20 PM

Go to South Jersey! It is much nicer than the northern half and completely different from New York. Farms, Pine Barrens, and better beaches than North jersey.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2011 4:27 PM

Well, I, for one am pretty psyched about the show at MHOW tomorrow. If you don't like Titus... I feel a little sorry for you. Not much, just a little sorry. You must be one miserable, humorless fuck though.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2011 4:32 PM

For an accurate depiction of twenty-somethings in NJ I'd suggest watching Zach Braff's Garden State.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2011 4:33 PM

2:30 nailed it. Everyone else, go back to Ohio and leave us alone.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2011 6:54 PM

Jesus fucking Christ, would you guys listen to yourselves? I never thought people would start judging others on where they grew up. New York, Brooklyn, Jersey, Ohio, Alabama, fuck it - if you're a nice person to hang with, then you're a nice person to hang with. What fucking children you all are.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2011 7:14 PM

7:14 makes a good point. But there is an exception... Long island has nothing good about it at all.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2011 7:46 PM

As long as we're all proud to be Americans! At least we know we're free!

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2011 7:53 PM

NJ IS AWESOME you gotta be really stupid not to notice.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2011 7:56 PM

So are these bands any good?

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2011 11:16 PM

Welll...how was the show?

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2011 11:33 AM

2:30 knows what the fuck it up, and I'm born and raised in NYC. Good man.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2011 11:58 PM

FANTASTIC SHOW!!! My ears are still ringing. Never heard of The Suzan, they were great. And Titus, fucking rocked. 4 classic punk songs at the end was the ultimate. Sham 69, 7 Seconds, and the Ramones.

Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2011 8:03 AM

nj is part of ny,nuff said.

Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2011 2:10 PM

2:10 : wishful thinking doesn't make it true.

Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2011 4:47 PM
