Bon Iver

Bon Iver has announced a full summer tour and another NYC show. They'll kick things off with two home-state shows at Milwaukee's Pabst Theater on July 22 and July 23, and end things at the sold out August 10th Brooklyn show, which is one day after the newly-announced NYC show happening at United Palace Theater on August 9. Tickets for that one go on sale Friday at 10am.

As you know:

For the shows Justin Vernon will perform with a 8-piece band that includes many musicians who contributed to the forthcoming album 'Bon Iver,' out June 21 on Jagjaguwar. The touring band will consist of regular Bon Iver contributors Sean Carey (drums, piano), Mike Noyce (guitar) and Matt McCaughan (drums), Rob Moose on violin and guitar (Antony and the Johnsons, The National), Mike Lewis on bass (Andrew Bird, Happy Apple), and a horn section including Reginald Pace, Colin Stetson (Tom Waits, Arcade Fire), and C.J. Camerieri (Rufus Wainwright, Sufjan Stevens).
The Rosebuds, whose co-vocalist Ivan Howard also plays in Gayngs with Justin Vernon, will open all shows.

Before then the Rosebuds will spend the first half of the summer out on their own tour in support of their new Merge Records album Loud Planes Fly Low (out June 7th). A video promo for that album and all tour dates, below...

woah! this information certainly begs the question ... (drum roll please) ... will kanye fishsticks crybaby west be making any guest appearances?

Bandshell show will be much better. Fuck traveling up to 175th st...

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2011 11:53 AM

HE SUCKS.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2011 12:01 PM

11:53 -- I live a couple blocks from the bandshell, and I couldn't be bothered to buy a ticket and travel all the way down there for this. Unless I have trouble getting to sleep that night.

He doesn't suck, but the idea that he has enough talent to play a venue like United Palace is ridiculous. Hype product.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2011 12:24 PM

Other than the distance, is there any other reason why the Bandshell show will be better than United Palace?

Posted by Dan | May 9, 2011 12:31 PM

He plays the Riverside Theater in Milwaukee to start the tour
2 nights: 7/22, 7/23

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2011 12:51 PM

Yes, 11:53, heaven forbid you actually travel out of your five block radius in Hipster Central. The UP show will be better and even more so because you won't be there.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2011 1:00 PM

@12:31
the United Palace place will cost you extra $15 for a ticket.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2011 1:01 PM

The UP show will be unbearable. The late to the game hype followers will talk through the entire show, his hollow-sounding band and weak falsetto won't fill up the big venue, and after the show you'll have to deal with the idiotic train station situation.

Fuck all the haters! I have been waiting to see Bon Iver since Roo 2009. Highlight of the whole festival. This made my fucking day.

And United Palace, I live five blocks away!

Posted by call me goldie | May 9, 2011 1:39 PM

Why isn't he playing Town Hall again?

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2011 1:40 PM

Dude, it must have been the drugs at Bonnaroo.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2011 1:46 PM

overpriced

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2011 2:02 PM

12:12 obviously has a inflated ego. who gives a f*ck if you can't be bothered to see a band that many others like. save it for someone who cares. I live near the bandshell and I will be there.

I remember when Justin Vernon was just the touring guitarist for The Rosebuds - and they're opening for him...

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2011 5:41 PM

Any word on a pre-sale for United Palace?

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2011 12:16 PM
