Flaming Lips in Poughkeepsie in 2010 (more by Ryan Muir)
Flaming Lips

More info on those Weezer, Flaming Lips, Yeasayer shows...

...Some major additions to the 2011 Weezer concert calendar today, folks! First of all we got a special pair of shows in the NY/NJ area, co-headlining with The Flaming Lips in the first ever Weezer/Flaming Lips team up! The shows are being opened by Yeasayer, and Weezer will play in the middle slot... because the Flaming Lips make such a big mess that its sort of logistically unwise to take the stage after them! But Weezer and the Flaming Lips will be playing identical set lengths.

***PNC Bank Arts Center, Holmdel, NJ - 7/28/11- Co-headline with the Flaming Lips. With Yeasayer***

..The other big show announcement is for Seattle, at the WAMU Theater! This show will feature the Memories style setlist of the Blue Album and Pinkerton being performed in their entirety! While this isnt the only Memories style or Memories influenced setlist of the summer, it is definitely the only one in Seattle!

***WaMu Theater - Seattle, WA - August 19th***

I don't know what Weezer mean by "no password needed," unless they mean AmEx, but anyway tickets go on general sale on Saturday if all else fails. All tour dates are listed HERE.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 11:58 AM

no austin? no care!

"Uh, that news is a few days old by now."

Uh, Brooklynvegan announced the shows before Weezer even did and at that time the info wasn't announced yet.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 12:08 PM

Uh...

...eh, I got nothin to say. sorry.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 12:09 PM

The $74 were still pricey but at least not nosebleed.

Posted by Burg | May 6, 2011 12:09 PM

I bet a lot of people will leave after Weezer and before Lips.

"At least the sets in the right order...but this is still bullshit. I want a Soft Bulletin show."

You should have seen them during the Soft Bulletin tour then. Bands should focus on new stuff.

^ True, but the Flaming Lips basically ignore about 8 albums. (except to play Jelly, obviously)

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 12:15 PM

No. no. no!

Clouds Taste Metallic and Zaireeka both rule! I expect songs to be played from both those albums. Let's rock out Wayne and save all the naked little girl stuff for your own twisted adventures.

I bet a lot of people will leave after Weezer and The FLips, when the show is over.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 12:19 PM

^ ha!

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 12:21 PM

I hope Weezer plays nothing from Blue or Pinkerton.

I said
Where's my sex?
I thought it was here
Under the bench
But it isn't there
I've got no idea where it disappeared to
I'm running late, I can't be late
I can't go out without my sex
It's cold outside and my toes get wet
And people will think that I'm an alien
Just cruising in to make a friend

does jones beach still not sell alcohol?

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 12:35 PM

SO. OVER. RATED.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 12:38 PM

Sex = socks

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 12:42 PM

Other than on ridiculous parking fees, how does Jones Beach make money if they don't sell alcohol?

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 12:43 PM

I feel bad for people buying $70 tickets who have seen the FLIPs in the past 5 years. Show hasn't changed since at war with the Mystics except to add in one or two Embryonic songs. I saw this shit back in 2009 for $25.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 12:44 PM

@Blag the destroyer. YES! I FUCKING HATE BOTH OF THOSE, particularly curate. UGH.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 12:47 PM

Yeah, I saw that back in '89 when for $15 when I was walking uphill both to and from the show.

missed the 'blue' and 'pinkerton' tour so hoping they dip into those...

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 1:37 PM

Yeasayer is opening? Was Collective Soul unavailable?

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 1:48 PM

WHOAHOHHOHWHOA

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 1:59 PM

both of these bands are so 10 years ago

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 2:11 PM

Heaven let your light shine down...

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 2:18 PM

Damn. I put to much tahini in this mornings hummus, and now my girlfriend is pissed.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 2:19 PM

Stab you in the forehead .. Whoops ...thoughtyping again. My bad.

Posted by Burg | May 6, 2011 2:25 PM

doesn't weezer realize they are like the ugly, less-talented little brother of Pavement?

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 2:57 PM

They always lean heavy on Blue and to.a lesser extent Pinkerton. The rest will be radio hits like Hash Pipe, Island in the Sun, Perfect Situation, Beverly Hills, If you're Wondering..., The Greatest Man that ever lived, and more plus a random cover medley but not the full songs. Sometimes they pull out a Susanne or Jamie too. Usually end with Buddy Holly.

That is, unless they decide to mix it up more this tour.

^ who gives a good goddamn

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 4:19 PM

"Other than on ridiculous parking fees, how does Jones Beach make money if they don't sell alcohol? "

i think it is officially part of a state park

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 4:35 PM

i like collective soul SHYUT UP!

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 4:43 PM

Just go in at about 10pm, so you only have to see the Flaming Lips. Chill in the parking lot before that.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 8:32 PM

I heard that James Murphy will be in the pit giving free hummus to anyone that attends, with home made pita chips.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 9:25 PM

Zdeno Chara would destroy Weezer.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 10:59 PM

i feel bad for people who have daily contact with 12:44
