Foals @ Terminal 5
Foals

"Foals are the epitome of organized chaos. I was fortunate enough to catch them at their sold-out show at Terminal 5 (NY) with great up-and-coming kiwi band The Naked & Famous and Brooklyn's own Freelance Whales, and they blew my high expectations away. Incredible how a band can possess so much talent. Props to lead singer/guitarist Yannis Philippakis for sounding pitch-perfect, killing it on the guitar, and fueling the moshpit with his insane antics." -[Still Sound Music]
The Foals/Freelance Whales tour hit Terminal 5 in NYC last night (5/4) with opener The Naked & The Famous (who later played a show at Pianos many hours after a set by Emmy the Great). They move on to Philly tonight.

Pictures and some video from the NYC show (and Pianos) are in this post, and there's more of them below...

I love the Foals but shit watching that Two Steps video makes me piss off!

1) moshing? come on
2) you hipsters/kids under 18 can't even keep yannis up in the air?

TN&TF were absolutely ridiculous last night. Caught them at T5 and Pianos, which might have been one of the best musical experiences of my life.

Foals tore it up, after cringe worthy teen power pop snoozer Freelance Whales. The Naked & Famous were so cliche and unoriginal. The chick had a decent voice though! My ears still hurt from too much bass.

Saw this tour in Austin and I must say Freelance Whales are just terrible. There is nothing positive I can say about their music.

Foals were great.

I'm reluctant to see any band at T5, but Foals were worth it. glad they played "Black Gold", it's one of their best songs and they didn't play it the MHOW show for some reason. pretty sure the first song of their encore was a new one too.

I agree... Freelance Whales are terrible. My wife & I were actually looking forward to seeing them, but were completely bored! Drained the shit out of us. Thankfully The Foals turned it up!

I thought Freelance Whales were pretty good. Of course if you stand anywhere further than 15 feet from the stage, it's hard to enjoy any band at T5 because every body fucking talks. Seriously, shut the fuck up when you are at a concert.

im driving to fucking Providence Sunday to see this show bc i refuse to go to T5. Fuck you Bowery Presents, and fuck your shit ass venue.

Who the fuck wrote this review? 'Fortunate enough' to get into the show? They played fucking Terminal 5! Mosh pit?! God, shut up. Saw this band at Maxwell's a few years ago and they were decent at best.

The Foals sucked. They have absolutely zero soul. What a bullshit show.Crowd was up for a great show, biting at the bit, and the Foals proceeded to take the wind out of their sails with their pretentious noodling.

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2011 7:00 PM

The Foals did not suck. I came to the show to see the Freelance Whales and I agree with the boring comments. They do not translate well live at all. That said, the Foals are made to be a live band and they absolutely had the crowd going crazy, mosh pit and all. I can see why that would be annoying, but it was fun to watch from afar, and the Foals just brought incredible authentic energy. Naked and Famous was OK, but I agree with the cliche comments, and the sound was horrible for them.

Thanks for using my videos!

Foals are so fucking boring. Why do people on this website hype them up so much? The only people that seem to give a shit about that NME crap are the dumbass nerds who post on this site.

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2011 7:29 PM

Jesus people it's just Foals. Not The Foals. Only caught their set, and have to say they played better at MHOW last fall but it was still fucking great. If this was a bad night for them (happens to everyone) then I'm super impressed. But then I was already.

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2011 7:30 PM

Seriously correcting comments for adding "the" before Foals? Get over yourself. Even if you know it's Foals it still an easy mistake to make.

We hate our fans!

Posted by Freelance_Whales | May 5, 2011 10:58 PM

@7:29 People "hype them up so much' because they're a great live band and their last album was a classic. They just sold out T5, this isn't a niche BV band.

Foals melts face-one of the best live acts around

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 8:51 AM

Was this sold out? Seems like Foals got really big really fast.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2011 9:25 AM

Foals are terrible.

Terrible.

Glad to hear that Freelance haven't gotten any better. That shit was awful a year ago too.
